Wyatt and I slept in his room in his parent's house since we don't want to drive anymore. When we woke up it's already lunch so we ate with tito and tita.
"Why don't you guys plan a vacation for the two of you? Relax somewhere, even for 3 days." Tita said so I shook my head. "Why?"
"We have a full schedule this month, mom. We can't take a sudden leave." Wyatt answered Tita.
"You guys are working 4 days a week, right? Why don't you guys take the 3 days to go on a vacation?" Tito asked and we shook our heads. Our schedule isn't the same so it's hard.
"Hindi kaya, tito pero baka next month." I said to Tito and looked at Wyatt. "Pag uusapan namin ni Wyatt, tito."
"I-bakante nyo yung birthday ko next month kung hindi mag tatampo ako." Tita said which made me chuckle and nodded. "3 days. We're going out of town."
"We'll do that, mom." Wyatt said to her.
Wyatt and I just took a rest at their house before we went home and slept again. The next morning, we left the house early so we didn't bother to eat breakfast.
At lunch time I was so hungry so I went straight to the cafeteria after my surgery and saw that Wyatt and Nurse Liza were eating together, which made me lose my appetite. I watch how Wyatt looks at her and it's kinda how he looks at me. He looks happy listening to her. I ended up leaving the cafeteria and just resting at my office.
"Reese. I bought you some sandwiches and a chocolate drink." I lifted my head when I heard Pia. She's with Tianna. "You didn't eat breakfast and lunch, didn't you?"
"Yeah. I have no appetite." I answered her and gave her a small smile. "Can I have the chocolate drink?"
"Of course, that's yours to begin with." Tianna said and chuckled. We all look at the door when it opens revealing Joanna. "You're late."
"I just got out of the OR. I'm hungry." Joanna said and got the sandwich on my desk. "Can I have this?" She asked so I nodded. "Why are we here?"
"Just accompanying, Reese. Our baby doesn't have an appetite." Pia answered her and they chuckled.
"Is there something wrong, Reese? You can talk to us." Joanna said, which made me look around then my eyes landed on the clock.
"I actually don't have time for lunch. I need to leave." I said and took a sip on my chocolate drink before standing up and running back to the operating room.
I operated on my patient then went back to my office and took a nap. When I woke up it was the time that I should run to the OR again but I stopped in my tracks when I saw Wyatt and Nurse Liza talking. "Fuck it. I don't have time for this." I whispered to myself as I shook my head before continuing to the OR.
When I finished operating on the patient I talked to the patient's family like we always do before going back to my office. That was my last operation but then the ER called me so I need to go back and operate on a patient again. Pia and Jaxon tried to stop me and said that they'll operate but I didn't let them.
The patient is in critical condition and I tried my very best but I failed to save her. I talked to the patient's family with a heavy heart before I went back to my office. I washed my face as I stopped myself from crying then changed my clothes so I can go home and rest.
"You're going home?" Jaxon asked when he entered my office so I nodded. "Can you drive? I can drive you home. Wyatt is in OR."
"I can drive, Jaxon. Thank you for your concern." I said and sighed. I closed my eyes tightly when I suddenly felt dizzy and I felt someone holding my shoulder. "I'll take a rest for a while. Can you leave me alone?" I asked Jaxon when I opened my eyes and took a seat.
"No. I'll stay." Jaxon said and sat on the sofa. "You should have let me take over your last surgery. Ang kulit mo kasi. Bakit ayaw mong mag papigil?"
For the next few days things were like that and I actually hated it. I badly want my day off because I don't want to see how Wyatt looks and talk to Nurse Liza. For a long time of working at the hospital I just realized how I hate working at it and it's because of them.
"I'll take over, Graciella Reese." Pia said as she stopped me from leaving my office. "You're not feeling well."
"I'm feeling well. Let me, Pia. This is my last surgery for today, then I'll go home." I said to her then look behind her because I saw Wyatt there. "What are you doing here?" I asked him, while Pia left the room.
"Stop it already, Graciella." He said to me and I glared at him.
"Don't tell me what to do. Leave my office, Chase." I said to him as I pointed at the door he just closed. "I don't need you here. Leave."
"Sit down, Gracie." He said calmly. I wanted to shout at him but I couldn't. I wanted to hate him but I can't. What's the matter with me? "Let's talk."
"I don't want to talk to you." I said firmly. "Leave my office, Dr. Hudgens. You don't have a business here."
"Reese." I heard Jaxon which made me look at the door. "Should I leave?"
"Yeah, go with your friend. Leave me alone." I answered him and he sighed. "Why don't you guys leave? Leave. I want the two of you to leave me alone." I said but none of them moved so I did. I got my bag and tried to walk past Wyatt but he grabbed my elbow. "Don't touch me. I hate you." I said to him and slapped his hand away but he didn't let go. "Let go. I'm going home, Dr. Hudgens."
"You don't mean that. You're just mad at me." He said and hugged me and there I broke down in tears. "Gracie."
"I hate you. I hate you so much." I said as I punched his chest. "I hate you, Wyatt. How could you do that to me?" I asked him, "why are you so happy while talking to her but you can't even spare me a minute? How can you eat lunch with her without even telling me? I thought you wanted to fix our relationship? You don't want me anymore? Sure, Chastille." I said and stood up straight as I wiped my tears. "Itigil na natin 'to. I don't think we can still fix this." I said as I stopped myself crying again. I feel like I'm dying. I can hardly breathe.
"No, Graciella." He said and pulled me back into his arms and I tried to leave his arms but I couldn't. He's holding me too tight.
"Chase, ayoko na. Pagod na ako. Hindi ko na kayo kayang makita sa hallway." I said to him, "tama naman na. You know how much it pains me when you look at someone the way you look at me. Ayoko nang makita 'yon, Wyatt. Ayoko na." I said in between my sobs. I couldn't see him clearly as tears kept coming out of my eyes. "Let me go. Hiwalayan mo na ako, Chase."
"Why would I do that?" He asked and I wanted to answer him but I felt too dizzy until everything went black.
"Get a new nurse. Not her." I can hear Wyatt's voice and Jaxon arguing but I didn't bother to open my eyes. "Jaxon, just fucking listen to me. Get a new nurse. My Graciella won't be happy to see her." They didn't utter the name once but I know who it is.
"Stop fighting. Go call a different nurse." Pia said and sighed. "Ano ba naman kasi 'to, Chase. Dapat sinabi mo agad na hindi kayo okay. Nagawan sana natin ng paraan."
"I want to be alone. Leave." I utter without opening my eyes. I don't want to see any of them right now. "I want to rest and I want food."
"Of course you want food. Puro ka chocolate drink hindi ka naman pala kumakain sa bahay n'yo. Ano ba naman 'yan, Graciella." I heard Tianna and she sighed. "Fix this. Hindi na kayo mga bata."
"Let's leave them alone." I heard Joanna say and the door opened and closed. Wyatt was left with me. I know and I can feel his stares.
"Don't stare at me and leave." I said and opened my eyes. I sat down and looked at him. "Ano pa bang gusto mo, Wyatt? Hinahayaan na kita. You can be happy for all I care."
"You misunderstood it. It was a misunderstanding, Gracie." Wyatt said as he walked towards me. "I ate lunch with my team that day. It's just they're still getting their food and I got to the table first and then Nurse Liza sat with me and started telling stories about how you did well in the OR. Whenever she sees me she talks to me about how well you did in your operation since she was there." He said but my heart refused to accept it. Maybe not today.
"Stop, Wyatt. I don't have the energy to listen to any of the things you'll say. I'm hungry and tired." I said to him and he did stop and handed me a chocolate bar. "Thank you."
"I already ordered your food. It's on its way." He said so I nodded. Then suddenly someone knocked on the door and he went to the door and opened it. "Nurse Cynthia, come in."
"I heard the news. You guys are engaged. Kaya naman pala ganon. Dineny pa, sabi mag bestfriend lang." Nurse Cynthia said and chuckled. "I'm here to check on you. I got worried, Graciella."
"I'm sorry. You should've just stayed at your station." I said to her and gave her a small smile. She's the head nurse. "There's nothing to worry about, Nurse. I was just tired."
"And hungry." She added, which made me chuckle as I nodded. "Why did you let Graciella not eat in time, Chastille? You know that the nutrients we get from the foods are essential for our body."
"Chase, here's the food you ordered." I heard Nurse Liza's voice which made me look at Wyatt's direction but quickly look away.
"Thank you." He said and closed the door and Nurse Cynthia laughed at it. "I'm rude, I know."
"Buti naman alam mong bata ka. That's not how you treat a girl, Chastille." Nurse Cynthia said as she adjusted the IV.
"She's going to get jealous. That's why I declined her to be her nurse." Wyatt said to Nurse Cynthia which made me glare at him. "Don't glare at me. I bought you carbona, garlic mushroom cauliflower skillet, creamy beef and mushroom. All your favorites."
"How about rice?" I asked as he fixed my food. He let me see rice and then put some on the plate.
"I'll get going. Get well, Graciella. Take care of her, Chastille." Nurse Cynthia said and we thanked her before she left the room.
"Eat a lot." He said as he gave me a plate that had rice, skillet, beef and mushroom.
"Where's my carbonara?" I asked and he got the tupperware and opened it. "Thank you. I'll eat a lot." I said to him and started eating. "Take a bite, Wyatt."
"No, not the carbonara." He said which made me chuckle and heard him sighed. "Continue eating."
"Take a bite." I said and fed him a spoonful of carbonara. He swallowed it without even saying anything and just drank water. "Does this taste better than your mother's carbonara?"
"No, my mom's carbonara is the most delicious but mine is the best." He said, which made me curious. "You ignored my cooking for the past few days. I always cook your favorite. It's all in our fridge."
"I ignored it because I hate you, Wyatt." I said to him and rolled my eyes. "But I ate some of the carbonara when you were sleeping, I can agree with you. Yours is the best."
"Are you full already? Can I explain again?" He asked so I shook my head. "Graciella. Let me explain."
"Maybe, I really did misunderstand it but I really mean what I said, Wyatt. There's no point in continuing a relationship if only I have feelings. No matter how hard we try to fix it if you like someone else that won't change a thing." I said and sighed. "But I'm always open, Wyatt. I can take you again if you find your way back to me. I can accept you again. Ganon kita kamahal, Chastille."
