"She kissed you?" I asked and he nodded. "Wyatt, why didn't you tell me about this earlier? I should've known!" I said almost shouting because I'm frustrated and mad at myself. How can I not notice? "How are you?"
"Are you mad? I pushed her away when she did it, Gracie. I swear." He said so I shook my head and sighed. "I didn't expect her to do that. I'm so—stop, Wyatt. You have nothing to be sorry for." I cutted him. My heart feels heavy.
"How are you, Wyatt?" I asked as I reached for his cheeks. "I should be the one saying sorry. I'm sure it was traumatizing. I'm so sorry, I have no idea." I said as I wiped the tears coming down to his cheeks. "It must have been so hard." I said and leaned forward to kiss his nose. "I'm so sorry, Wyatt."
That night I cried with him but the next morning I acted like I always do. I cooked breakfast for the both of us before I woke him up. "Wake up, love. Let's eat. I cooked you bacon." I said as I gently tapped his cheeks. "Good morning, my love. Let's eat, love." I said when he opened his eyes.
"Good morning." He said then I kissed him. "Why did you wake up so early?"
"I cooked breakfast, Wyatt." I said to him and smiled. "We have work. You have 4 scheduled operations, right? So you need to wake up early and eat para may lakas ka mamaya."
We eat in our kitchen silently. Something changed and it's bothering me but I didn't say anything. "You'll take your car like you said last night?" Wyatt asked after we finished eating so I nodded. "Alright. Take care. Drive safely. I'll go take a shower." He said then stood up and walked away.
I just changed my clothes then knocked on the bathroom's door. "Should I wait for you, love?"
"No, you can go ahead." He said so I nodded and bid him goodbye before leaving.
We continued that set up for the whole week. We were so busy that we didn't even have enough time for our quality time and now we just got home from our ship just to eat since we're on-call. "Eat a lot, Wyatt." I said to him and I put down our plates. We ate before going to our bedroom to rest. "How are you?"
"I'm not fine, Gracie." He whispered but enough for me to hear. "Gracie, I need to tell you something." Wyatt said which made me look at him. He looks so sad. Things weren't good for the both of us for the past week. "I think I'm attracted to Liza." He said and looked away. "And things feel so different these days."
"Hmm? Do you still have something to say?" I asked because I feel that he still has something to say. He looked at me so I gave him a small smile to let him know that it's okay. "Continue, Chase."
"Gracie, I think I fell out of love. What should I do?" He asked as he bursted in tears. "I don't like this. Gracie, what should I do?"
"It's fine, Wyatt." I said as I hugged him. "Love comes and goes, love, so it's fine." I said as I patted his back. I can't help but cry too. What he confessed was painful but what pains me the most was him, how he reacted to what he said.
"Gracie, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I don't like this." He said as he continued to cry on my shoulder. "I don't want to give us up. What should I do?"
"It's fine, babe. I don't want to give up on us too. Don't worry, we'll work things up." I said as I tried to shush him. I was about to talk again when my phone rang. "Hold up, Wyatt. I'll just answer the call." I said as I broke the hug. I look at him when his phone rings too. I looked at the caller's ID in my phone and saw that it's ER. "I think I need to go to the hospital, love." I said before answering the call and walking to the closet to get my blazer.
"They need me there too. Are my eyes okay?" He said as he changed his pants.
"Yeah. Let's go there together, babe." I said as I got one of his jogger pants and wore it. "I'll drive us there."
"You don't want me to drive?" He asked so I nodded. "Alright. Let's go." He then gently dragged me with him.
I drove us there and throughout the ride we were so quiet but he didn't let go of my hand. "Let's talk about what we should do with our relationship later, Wyatt. Let's focus on our work first." I said and got my hand from him then we got out of the car. "Good luck, Wyatt, I love you." I said and kissed his neck before running away.
As soon as I got to the ER I saw how chaotic the place is. We started working as many people kept on coming in. I did 3 continuous surgeries so when I got out of the OR I threw myself on the sofa in the doctor's longue and not long after I closed my eyes I felt someone sit beside me which made me open my eyes again.
"It's so tiring. I want to sleep already. How are you?" Wyatt asked as he rested his head on my shoulder. "You were in the OR for 4 hours straight."
"I'm good. How about you? How are you feeling?" I asked as I held his hand. "You should sleep, love."
"I'm good. Can we go home?" He asked so I nodded. "I'll sleep when we get home. Let's rest for now." He said and hugged me.
"Wow ha. Kakalabas ko lang ng OR tapos ganto makikita ko. Nakakainggit naman." Joanna said which made me look at her then felt Wyatt moving away so I held his hand and put it back on my waist.
"Just rest, love. Don't mind her." I said to him and he went back to his position. "Let's just rest for a while then I'll drive us home."
"Dr. Hudgens. The patient that you operated just woke up. You need to go." I heard Nurse Liza's voice which made me look at her then to Wyatt who's also looking at me worriedly.
"He'll go there after a minute." I said to Nurse Liza and she nodded before walking away. "Go, love. Your patient is waiting for you. Don't worry about me. You're just doing your job." I said but I felt his hug tightened. "I'll just go with you. I'll check my patients then we'll go home."
Like I said we checked our patients. Our ICU was full and there's a lot of people in the ER and we both stopped when we saw a kid on the floor crying. She has a huge cut on her arm. "Hi. Can you go with me? I'm a doctor." Wyatt said to the kid as he carefully carried the kid. It's good that we saw an empty bed so Wyatt put her there and called a nurse.
"The wound is deep, Dr. Hudgens. Bandage won't do anything with this." I said to Wyatt and sighed then called a nurse. "Can you do it? I'll keep her entertained."
"Of course." Wyatt answered then got the equipment to the nurse. "What's your name, princess?"
"Belle." The kid answered him, which made me smile.
"You're really a princess, Belle. Can you not move? Dr. Hudgens will just do something." I said and smiled at her. "How old is the princess I'm talking to?" I asked and she giggled.
"I'm 6. Where's mom?" She asked which made me look around then to Wyatt who's focused on suturing. "I want to see mommy."
"She'll be here in a few minutes. Do you want some lollipop? I have one." I said and got a lollipop on my white coat.
"That's mine." Wyatt said which made me glare at him. "I'm just telling the truth."
"Yeah, you are. Do you like milk flavor?" I asked the kid and she nodded as I opened the lollipop then gave it to her. "You're so beautiful."
"Thank you, Doctor." She said cutely which made me chuckle. "You're also so beautiful. My uncle will love you when he sees you." She said, which made me cough as Wyatt stopped. "Do you have a boyfriend, Doctor?"
"She's Dr. Solis and I'm her fiance." Wyatt said and peaked on her face which made me chuckle. "We're done." Wyatt said to me so I nodded. "But where's her parents?"
"How could I know?" I asked him back as he sat beside the kid. "What's the name of your mother, Belle?"
"Thena Garcia." Belle answered, which made me look at Wyatt.
"How old are you again?" Wyatt asked the kid again and she answered 6. "And your full name?"
"Belle Gavyna Garcia. I don't have a father." She said which made my eyes widen.
"Gavin is his father. That's why I can see familiar features." Wyatt whispered but enough for me to hear. "Should I call him?" He asked as he looked at me so I shook my head.
"You shouldn't. Let's ask the mother first." I said and called a nurse and lucky enough Nurse Liza walked towards us which made Wyatt stand up and sit next to me. "Nurse Liza, do we have a patient named Thena Garcia?" I asked and she scanned the paper she's holding before nodding and looking at me—no at Wyatt.
"She's in the ICU. Dr. Holland just finished operating on her. She's badly injured." She said, which made me sighed.
"Reese, Chase. I finally found you." Tianna said as she caught her breath. "I operated on Thena. She's stable." She said and looked at Belle. "She looks like a mixture of Gavin and Thena. She's beautiful."
"Who's the emergency contact of Ms. Garcia?" I asked Nurse Liza and she scanned the paper again before looking at me.
"We contacted Mr. Gavin Mendez. He's on his way here." She answered me and Wyatt, Tianna and I just looked at each other. "Is there a problem?"
"Nothing. You can go back to your work. Thank you." Tianna said to her then sighed. "I can't believe that they still have communication. Is she his daughter?"
"Looks like it." I answered her and Tianna looked at the kid with full interest before sitting beside her. When my phone rang, I quickly answered. "Good morning, tita. Why did you call this early?"
"Let's eat breakfast together. Your tito just arrived from his business meeting in Canada. He has a lot of chocolates for you guys." She said, which made me look at Wyatt who's watching me with furrowed eyebrows. "This is too early right? Did I wake you up?"
"Not really, tita. Wyatt and I are at the hospital. We'll just wait for someone before going there. We'll be there." I said to her and she bid goodbye before cutting the line. "We'll go straight to your parent's house, Wyatt."
"Gavin." Wyatt said as soon as he answered a call. "Go to the ER. We're waiting for you. Yeah ER not ICU. You have someone important here. Yeah, Thena's in ICU but go here." He said and then dropped the call. "What did mom say to you?"
"Breakfast and chocolate." I said and he sighed. "I can't decline chocolates, Wyatt."
"I want chocolate." Belle said and Wyatt got something from his pocket and gave it to her. "Dark chocolate! My favorite. Thank you, Doctor."
"How about me?" I asked him and he just rolled his eyes at me. "Let's trade. I know you're craving for some lollipop." I said to him and put out my lollipop and he snatched it from me then fastly opened it and put it in his mouth. "Where's mine?"
"No." He said then stood up. "Right here, Gavin." Wyatt said and I saw Gavin walking towards our direction. "You didn't tell me that you're still in contact with Thena."
"Bro, I'm not. If I am edi sana hindi ko hinahanap." Gavin said and looked at me then smiled. "Good morning, Reese." He greeted me.
"So your name is Reese. You have a beautiful name, Doctor." Belle said and she immediately caught Gavin's attention.
"Bro, she looks like Thena." Gavin said in surprise.
"Of course my mom is Thena. It's normal to look like her." She said to Gavin which made me chuckle. "I want Tito Grant. Can you call him, Doctor?" She asked me and said my twin's mobile number. "Can you tell him that I want to play with Gael?"
"Belle!" I heard Grant's voice and he rushed to our direction. He hugged Belle and checked on her before looking at us. "How's Thena?" He asked and Tianna answered him.
Gavin and Grant talked while Wyatt and I left to go to his parents house to eat breakfast.
