Jackson pursed his lips and walked away when Daniel came. He looked back when he was sure that I cannot reach him and stuck out his tongue to me. I could feel my anger rising because of what he did. He continued making faces at me that made me lose all my patience.
“Run!” Daniel shouted when he noticed me clenching my hands tightly.
He immediately held my hand to stop me from running after Jackson. Jackson immediately fled when he noticed how mad I am.
“You better come back here,” I shouted
“I will see you tomorrow. Allyson hasn’t contacted me yet,” he said
“You and your anger. Why are you so mad?” Daniel said as he tapped my back
“Jackson should be thankful for you or else he would be dead meat now,” I said
“You better start breathing in and out to release that anger inside of you. I know that you’re an Amazona when your mad,” he said
“Excuse me?!” I snapped at him
“Don’t get mad at me. We both know that I am telling the truth,” he whispered
“Oh yeah!” I said before I pinched him in the arm
“Ouch! That’s painful,” he said as he held both of my arms.
“Are you having a lover’s quarrel?” Vladimir who popped out asked
“I already told you that we are not together. Why are you so consistent in linking us? We are JUST FRIENDS” I said emphasizing my words
I was about to continue and lecture him when a motorcycle stopped opposite us. We all looked when the person riding honked.
“Whoa! Look at this person, is he trying to pick up girls with his motorcycle? As if girls would be interested in that.” I said frowning
“And here we are with the worst version, she is now mad with everyone,” Daniel said
I rolled my eyes at what he said because I know that he is telling the truth. That is why people whom I am close to would keep quiet when they noticed that I am very angry.
“Daniel, come on.” the person said
“Oh, I forgot that was my uncle. He was in town today and decided to wait for me so we can go home together,” he said
“And you didn’t even tell me that he is your uncle. What if he heard what I said?” I whispered while panicking
“Do you want to come and say hi?” Daniel asked
“Hello. Good afternoon.” we both greeted
“Oh, isn’t this Althea? You have already grown into a beautiful lady. I didn’t expect to see you with Daniel.” he said as he removed his helmet
“Hello, uncle. We are classmates so we finished our classes together.” I answered
“So are you still together?” he pointed at the two of us
“Ha?” I blushed
“Uncle, this is Vladimir a friend of mine,” Daniel introduce Vladimir
“So you made another friend at school. I am proud of you. Nice to meet you, young man,” he said
“Nice to meet you too,” Vladimir replied
“Are you supposed to walk Althea home? Should I go home first?” he asked
“Ah no, we were just talking. We will see you tomorrow. It was nice seeing you again uncle.” I said before pulling Vladimir and moving back
“Okay, see you tomorrow,” Daniel said while putting on his helmet
“Are you sure that you are not together? Why would his uncle say those things?” Vladimir asked when they are out of sight
I ignored him and walked away since I know that he will start teasing me again. He followed me and put his arm on my shoulder as he walked with me. I just let him be because he would put it back even if I brushed it away.
“Why don’t you admit your relationship? There is nothing wrong if you are back in each other's arms,” he said
“Honestly, are you interested in me? Why are you always asking that?” I asked as I stared at him
“What? Why are you asking me that question?” he blushed
“Why are you blushing? So you’re interested in me.” I winked at him
He cleared his throat before removing his arm around my shoulder and looking away. I frowned because I cannot understand why he was acting that way. I was just joking but why was he acting awkward.
“Are you going to walk home or will you grab a ride?” he changed the subject
“Are you rushing to go home? I was thinking of eating a snack first since Nana isn’t home. I want to ask Jessica and May but they live far away and I don’t want them to get home late.” I said
“Should I accompany you? I also don’t have anything much to do at home and we are practically neighbors so I think it is better to keep you company,”
“Well if you want to hang out with me then sure. It is much better to have company anyways.”
“Have you asked Jackson about Allyson? I noticed that you were worried about him?”
“He didn’t contact him too so I am not sure if he blocked us or changed his number. He is very special to me so I cannot help but worry about him.” I said
He nodded his head before changing the subject. I haven’t talked to him for a long time so I felt closer to him. He isn’t as annoying as I thought he would be and I find him interesting but he would always avoid my eyes every time we locked eyes which I find weird.
“Can I talk to you?” Daniel said as he sat down in front of me while I was busy reading a book in the library
“What is it about?” I said after giving him a glance
I put down the book that was on my face when he didn’t speak. I tried reading his face when I noticed his dark expressions. I closed the book and then gestured for him to speak.
“Do you want to talk somewhere else?” I asked
“That would be better because we can’t talk in the library,” he said before standing up and leaving me.
I returned the books before following him out of the library. He started walking when he saw me and didn’t even wait for me. I followed him until we got to the oval where there are few students.
“Do we need to talk in here? We can just whisper in the library.” I said
‘I need to talk about something important so the library is not a good place because the librarian will call us out.” he said
“Okay, what do you want to talk about. Is it that urgent?” I asked
“Why are you always hanging out with Vladimir?” he asked
“Because we are friends?”
“Friends? It doesn’t seem like you are friends.”
“What are you trying to say? Of course, we are friends,”
“I’m jealous of your closeness,” he said
“Why would you be jealous? And we are that close because we are seatmates. It was the same thing last year when I was with Allyson and Jackson.” I said
“You’re clueless aren’t you? How naïve can you be?” he whispered
“What was that? Sorry, I didn’t hear you properly.” I asked
“Forget it. It was not important. Shall I walk you home today?” he asked
“Oh about that. Ace is at the parking lot and waiting for me. He just sent a message that he is fetching me.” I said while showing him the message.
“Is that so? Then should I walk you to the parking lot?”
“It’s okay, I can manage,” I said
He was about to say something when we heard a honked from the street. I immediately recognized Ace who removed his helmet before waving his hand.
“Nathaniel is here. I guess I don’t need to walk you there. Tell him that I said hi.” he said before leaving me
I shook my head because he would normally greet Ace but he is walking away now. He has been acting weird to this day. I walked towards Ace who was garnering attention from students passing by.
“What are you doing here?” I asked
“I already told you that I came here to fetch you. Do I have to explain my message to you?” He said with his hands in his pockets.
“Hi Nathaniel.” some of the senior students who passed by said
He smiled at every one of them and I could notice some of the girls shrieked silently when he can’t see them.
“Are you hungry? Do you want to go and eat something first before we go home?” he asked
“No need. I am not that hungry.” I replied
“Okay, if you say so,” he said as he grabbed the extra helmet and put it in my head
“Hi, Nathaniel. Is she your girlfriend?” another student who was passing by asked
I guess they cannot recognize me well since I am wearing a helmet. I want to make it clear so I tried removing my helmet but Ace was holding it down.
