“There. You have your answer.” he looked back smiling proudly
“Uhuh! They were just bluffing. They have done that before and they didn’t kiss. They were just pretending to kiss.” Jackson said
“What do you mean by they have done it before?” Jessica asked
“Yeah! When we had the book month and they acted out a story. How can you forget?”
“Okay? Still, I am not convinced that nothing is going on between the two of you. I am starting to notice something odd between you.” May said raising an eyebrow
“Let us leave them so they can talk about their relationship and stop giving us mixed signals,” Henry said before going away
“My eyes are watching the two of you. You better not hide anything behind my back.” Jessica warned before leaving
May followed him and Shane glared at me before following them. If looks could kill then I might be dead right now. Jackson came near me and patted me on the shoulder before whispering.
“I saved your ass so you should be careful next time. They might catch the two of you kissing, which would be big trouble. Detention is waving if you are in school,”
“Do you want to die?! I could strangle you right now! What do you mean by saving my ass? I am going to say it one more time, nothing is going on between us.” I said
“Who knows? Maybe that is what you are saying. Perhaps you are hiding something from us.” he continued teasing me.
I got so annoyed that I raised the book I was holding to bonk him on the head but he was ready and was able to dodge it. He tapped my hand away and the book slipped from my hand and fell.
“Ouch!” a familiar voice shouted below and the three of us looked down
We held our breaths when we locked eyes with the most terror teacher in our school. We immediately got down and hid because we knew we were in trouble.
“Wilson, Anton, and Martinez! You better get down here fast and don’t make me go up there.” Mr. Lim shouted
We went down as fast as we could since we know how strict he is and he might give us a severe punishment. We held our hands at our back and bowed our heads politely.
“Whose book is this? What were you doing for it to fall?” he asked
The three of us kept quiet and no one dared to answer because it might make him angrier. We all know his characteristic that he will take an explanation as answering him back.
“So no one is going to answer. Report to the guidance office.” He said before handing the book to Vladimir
The three of us sighed and went to the guidance office. We stood outside the office while waiting for the counselor to come back. Students who are on their way to the faculty room kept on throwing glances at us.
“Whose gonna explain this time?” Vladimir broke the silence
“I did the explanation last time so you do it today,” I said
“I am also done with my turn so…” Jackson smiled
“Should I get us in trouble this time?” Vladimir grinned
“Don’t you dare!” I gasped
“Well, our punishment would be up to me. Should I stir it up?” he said
I am still annoyed because of what he did a while ago by pretending that we are in a relationship and now he is trying to get us in more trouble. I pulled his hair and he shouted at me to let it go. Jackson stood there watching and cheering me.
“Pull harder hahaha. Watching a fight is exciting no matter what kind it is,” he said with his arms folded
“Wilson, Anton, and Martinez! What brought you here this time? Do I have to deal with you every school year?” Ms. Bernice, the counselor said frowning
“Umm, hi ma’am. I didn’t know that you were there.” I smiled hesitantly
“Good afternoon ma’am.” Vladimir and Jackson said
“Aren’t you going to let your friend’s hair go?” she asked me
“Oh, of course, I should let it go,” I said but pulled Vladimir’s hair more
“Awww!” Vladimir said
“Let it go,” she said again while opening the office
“That’s what you get for messing with me,” I whispered to Vladimir
“I should be the one threatening you. Remember that the punishment depends on what will come out of my mouth.” he winked at me
“Come in and start explaining. I thought I will not be able to see you in my office this school year since the school year is almost over but here we are.” Ms. Bernice said
“It’s not like we wanted to be here either,” Jackson said
“Sorry, ma’am. He must be out of his mind and express his thoughts.” I pinched Jackson to let him get back to reality
“You are not the worst kind of student who reported to me but your group is still giving me a headache. I don’t know if I should be thankful that your group is incomplete.” she sighed
“We didn’t do anything this time,” The three of us started talking at the same time
“Are we going to do this again? I only want one of you to explain what happened.”
“It is this book's fault,” Vladimir said
“Are we blaming a book?” Ms. Bernice frowned
“You can blame Althea then since it is her book. It was placed on the railings and it fell accidentally when Jackson leaned back. Why would we drop it on Mr. Lim’s head when everyone is afraid of him?” Vladimir explained
“Do you have anything else that you wanted to share?” she said
We shook our heads and waited for her to tell us our punishment. She stared at us while massaging her temple. We stood there in silence hoping that she will accept our alibi.
“You better be careful next time and stop messing around. You should have said sorry to Mr. Lim and not just shut those mouths of yours,” she said
“Yes, ma’am. We are going to say sorry next time.” we all said
“What are you still doing here? You can go home now. I hope I will not be seeing any of you next year.” she said
“Oh, that was easier than what I expected,” Jackson said before going on his way
I went back to our classroom to grab my bag and saw Daniel standing by the door which is locked already. He was holding my bag while leaning on the wall.
“Hey,” I said softly to get his attention
He handed me my bag without uttering a word. We are from the same class while Vladimir, Jessica, and May are in another class.
“Have you seen if my friends I mean Jessica and May went home already?” I asked since I can’t stand the awkwardness
He nodded his head without even looking at me. I sighed and walked ahead to wait for the car in the parking lot since the driver told me that he will come to pick me up. I can feel him following behind me.
“You should get going. Don’t worry about me since the driver will pick me up here.”
“Is that your way of telling me to go away?” he frowned
“Huh? What? I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Then what are you trying to say?”
“Are you mad at me?” I asked
“Who? Me? Mad at you? Why would I do that?”
“Then stop being sarcastic.”
“Stop being sarcastic. As if someone hiding their relationship,” he said rolling his eyes
“Do I have to make an announcement or post a poster that I am single and I am not in a relationship? Should I make a business card for you to believe what I am saying?” I explained
“Then make one for all I care.”
I smiled when I saw him sulking. What is wrong with him? Is he jealous? He didn’t pursue me after confessing his feeling last year so I thought he must have gotten over it. He didn’t mention it after his confession and I didn’t notice any signs at all.
“Oh. Are you jealous?” I asked
“Excuse me! Why would I be jealous? I don’t like you anymore.” he said with his eyebrows almost meeting each other
“Really? If you don’t like me then why are you suddenly acting strange? You even walked out as if something big happened.” I said looking straight at his eyes
“Because I am a drama queen. Do you have any problem with that?” he said in his deep voice before flipping his imaginary hair
I closed my eyes to stop myself from laughing because I wanted to tease him but the hair flip got me. I burst out laughing which made him smile. I don’t know if he is trying to make me laugh or if he is trying to divert the topic.
