“What is wrong with you? Why can’t you keep still? You might break your neck at this rate.” Jessica said with an annoying voice
“I know, why do you keep on looking around? We are already here beside you. Are you looking for someone?” May asked
“I’m just curious why I haven’t seen Allyson yet. Jackson already came over to say hi but I can’t seem to find Allyson. It is almost time and I also didn’t see his name on the name of enrollees.” I said
“Relax. He might be late in enrolling so stop moving around.” Jessica said
“A week already passed and we started having lessons. I can’t even contact him so I think I have the right to be worried.”
“Have you tried asking Jackson? He might know the answer to your question. You better talk to him the soonest because you have been doing that every day.” May suggested
I was about to answer when the bell rang so we need to enter our designated classrooms. We are still in different classes for the new school year so we need to go our separate ways. I sat down on my seat sighing when my seatmate spoke.
“It’s early in the morning and you are frowning. Do you have a problem?” Vladimir asked
“Don’t mind me,” I answered
“You can talk to me if you have a problem. I feel distracted when you keep on tapping your fingers on your desk. You have been acting weird lately.” he said
“She is worried about Allyson since she hasn’t seen him and cannot contact him. Have you heard anything about him?” Jessica interrupted
“Is there something wrong? Why have you gathered around?” Daniel asked as he came over and stood behind Vladimir
“Nothing is wrong. Go back to your seats. I don’t want to get in trouble with our teacher at the beginning of the school year.” I shooed them
“Have you talked to Jackson? Allyson might have said something to him.” Vladimir said
“Maybe they are not on good terms since they are just saying hi when their paths crossed each other,” Jessica said
“Since when were you that attentive to what I do?” I raised an eyebrow at Jessica
“Not because I don’t point it out to you doesn’t mean that I don’t care. I have eyes, ears, and intuitions.” She smirked before going back to her seat
“Has she always been that attentive to what is happening with my life?” I asked Daniel
“She is one of your best friends so I bet she is. Don’t worry too much about Allyson. I’m sure that he will contact you soon.” Daniel whispered to me when our teacher came inside
“I can kiss you right now and you wouldn’t mind,” Vladimir said as he waved his hands in front of my face.
“What? Are you saying something?” I asked
“Nothing. Stop overthinking because we need to do some pair work,” he responded
I turned to my left side after hearing what he said to check on my partner but I saw her discussing already with someone else. I looked around the people around to find my partner before my eyes landed on Vladimir who was giving me a weird look.
“What?” I asked with a confused look
“Are you still in your world? Why do you keep on looking around?” he said
I looked at him, pursed my lips, squinted my eyes before puffing my cheeks and blinking my eyes fast. He smiled widely and started acting cute while raising his eyebrows. I ignored him and looked back to check on Jessica to ask her if she would be my partner but she is already busy talking to her partner.
“Are you telling me that you are my partner?” I asked
“Yep. You already looked around and all of them have their partners. Jessica and Daniel are already discussing with their partners.” he said after glancing in Daniel’s direction
“You better not tease me again. I am not in the mood to play with you.” I frowned at him
“I won’t if you say so. Shall we start answering the activity?” he said
“Which number would you like to answer? I heard that you were smart.” I asked
“What? Me? Smart?” he chuckled as he points to himself
“Yeah. I’ve heard rumors that you are as brilliant as Henry or was it more brilliant?” I said nonchalantly
“I’m not sure who spread that rumor but I will debunk it now. You will be disappointed after knowing that I am not smart but I heard that you’re somewhat intelligent,” he whispered while staring at me.
“I’m not. I just work hard.” I answered
“Says someone who is always a part of the top ten every grading and always aces the quizzes even if you didn’t listen during lessons.” he teased
“So Henry said some things to you huh. I am curious about how much information did he disclose to you. He should be thankful that he is in another section now.”
“I know that you are not just working hard since you are a part of the top five last school year. I think you can easily go to top 1 if you want to.” He said
“Shut up and let us start answering the activity. You better bring out your paper and pen because you will be the one writing.” I stared at him
“Me? Are you sure about that? Have you seen my handwriting? It is a mess.”
“I did that is why I am asking you to write our answers. I already know how this thing works. I know that you are either Jackson, Allyson, or Henry kind.” I smirked at him.
“Don’t compare me to them. I am different from them or maybe I am a combination of all of them. We don’t know yet so you better prepare yourself.” he whispered
“Oh please no! Are you trying to tell me that you will be my partner for the rest of the school year? I dealt with those three last year and you are telling me that I will deal with you too.” I glared at him
“Owwww, I forgot that you are quick-witted. You understood what I was trying to say,”
“What did I do to deserve this? I know that we are not yet considered close friends but you shouldn’t be paired with me. Try looking around and we are the only group who did not follow the seating arrangement,”
“So what? I chose you as my partner first so they can’t complain,” he said nonchalantly
“Fine. You should answer the activity now.” I said to stop him from talking
“Jackson, can I talk to you?” I shouted when I saw him walking towards the gate
“Me? Why? We are not in the same class so I know that I did not do anything wrong to be scolded.” he said
“What?” I asked annoyed
“I’m sorry your highness if I did something wrong. Please don’t punish me,” he said while raising his hands
I clenched my hands before putting them behind my back because my hands are itching to smack him. How can he say that when there are a lot of people around. Students are now going back home since it is already dismissal time. Some freshmen students are waiting for their friends and they might remember me as someone scary.
“What are you doing? Are you aware that there are new students around?” I said as I pinched him on the side
“Oh, I forgot that first impressions are very important to you,” he whispered
“I want to ask you something,” I said
“What?” he said while crossing his arms
“Have you heard anything from Allyson? Have you seen him?” I asked
He just stood there without saying anything. I can feel him staring at me that’s why I faced him. My neck was already painful from looking up at him when I noticed him trying to stop a smile. I knitted my eyes while waiting for his answer but he chuckled.
“How annoying?! My neck was already hurting while waiting for your answer.” I said while smacking his arm
“You are well aware that I am taller than you. It’s not my fault that you have to look up so you can see my face,” he said while avoiding my hands
“I’m asking you a serious question but you still managed to annoy me. Can’t you be serious for once? Ah, whatever!” I snapped at him before walking away.
“I was just joking,” he said laughing while walking beside me
“You know that I am serious so you should have answered me. You didn’t change at all.”
“You did not grow taller too.” he teased while walking relaxed beside me
“What?!” I stopped walking and looked at him with my mouth open.
“What’s wrong? Why are you staring at Jackson with disbelief?” Daniel said while patting me on the back
