“Is that how it works? Aren’t you supposed to court me first? I just admitted that I like you.” I asked confused
“This is why I love you. Your innocence makes you precious,” he replied while giving me a smug look
“Don’t give me that look. It’s giving me goosebumps.” I warned him
“Okay. I will court you if that is what you want even if you admitted your feelings. Thank you for being my valentine,” he teased before giving me a tight hug
I was about to answer him when the lights turned off and people started talking at the same time.
“Guys, stay in your place to avoid getting hurt. We are already checking the power source.” the MC announced
“Thank you also for being my date tonight. Court me if you want to but I am answering you yes.” I whispered to his ear before tiptoeing and giving him a smacking kiss on the lips using the faint light from the stage
He didn’t respond but I could feel his breath getting heavy and his arms stiffened. He was blushing and has a surprised look when the lights came back. Embarrassment enveloped me after I saw him smiling widely.
“I don’t know where I got the boldness to do that. I didn’t mean to… Oh gosh! That’s so embarrassing.” I said burying my head unto his chest
“Don’t be embarrassed. I admit that I did not expect you to do that but I am not saying I didn’t like it. That was so bold and I love it.” he said caressing my hair
“Still that is not so ladylike. My Nana would kill me if she knew that I just did that.”
“Don’t worry about it. I am your boyfriend now so you don’t need to be shy about it. I won’t tell your Nana about it.”
“Of course, you’re not going to tell her. Both of us will be dead if she knows.” I said before stomping away and leaving him on the dance floor
“Let’s call it a night then. I am guessing that Vladimir will accompany you home.” Jessica said when the prom was over
“Of course, I will,” Vladimir answered
“You better bring her home in one piece,” May added
“Don’t worry about that. She will arrive home safe and sound.” Vladimir smiled
“Don’t worry about me. I will hitch a ride with Jackson too.” I said before giving them a hug
“And you should talk to Daniel too. Tell him that we aren’t mad at him anymore.” May whispered to me before looking at Daniel who was standing away from us
“I will. You should go in the car now. They are waiting for you.” I said to them
I waved them goodbye and waited for their car to leave before looking back at Daniel. He avoided my eyes so I approached Jackson who was talking to his girlfriend.
“Can you give me five minutes? I need to talk to Daniel first.” I said
“Sure. Take your time,” he responded
“And no, you don’t have to come with me,” I said to Vladimir
“But..” he groaned
“No buts. I need to talk to him alone.” I said
“Fine. Go on. I’ll wait here.” he pouted
I walked over to Daniel who was leaning on his motorcycle. I sighed when he avoided my eyes again.
“Don’t be too hard on yourself. I forgive you because you know what you did wrong. I don’t want to end this night knowing that you are feeling miserable.” I said before opening my arms as a sign for a hug
‘I’m sorry.” his voice cracked
“Oh stop it! Don’t you dare cry? I forgive you. Come here and let me hug you.” I hug him first
“Thank you,” he whispered as he hug me back
“Anyways, my friends passed a message that they are not mad at you anymore,” I whispered
“Should I feel at ease with that?”
“Yeah. They won’t harm you so relax.” I said as I pulled away
“I can finally go home not feeling guilty,” he said before riding his motorcycle
“Goodnight and take care,” I said before kissing him on the cheeks
“I will. I’ll send you a message when I get home.” he put on his helmet
I waved and watched him go away before I walk back to Jackson’s car. He started the car as soon as I got inside.
“You can drop me here,” I said when we arrived at a crossing
“Are you sure about that? We can drop Nathalia at home first then I will drive you home.” Jackson said
“It’s fine. A five-minute walk won’t hurt. And it is getting late. I have Vladimir with me.” I said to convince him
“Fine. I know that I won’t win with you in this argument but you have to send me a message when you got home.” he sighed
“Bring her home as a whole or else,” he warned Vladimir
“Chill man! Why is everyone so aggressive tonight? She is precious to all of us.” Vladimir answered
“I will send you a message as soon as I get home. I will even send a photo to show that I am safe, sound and whole.” I told him
“Do they know that I confessed to you?” Vladimir asked as we started walking
“No. I haven’t told anyone yet.” I said
“How would they react if we told them? I think we should keep it a secret first. They might rip me apart if they knew that we are together.” he said
“If you’re not ready to tell them then fine with me,” I said
“Thanks. I just need some time before telling them. I need more courage facing them than confessing to you.” he explained
“It’s fine. You do need to prepare yourself but I think they would understand.” I smiled at him to make him relax
“I hope so,” he whispered
He slowly held my hand as we walked together under the moonlight. I am feeling ecstatic because I am not used to holding hands with someone.
“Do you want to come inside?” I asked when we arrived in front of the gate
“I don’t want to disturb your Nana so I think walking you till the door is fine.”
“You don’t have to do that. I will walk you back later anyway.” I chuckled
“I will walk you halfway through the garden then,” he said
“Or never mind. You can watch me get inside the door. Deal?” I offered
“Halfway through the garden. I won’t take No for an answer,” he said
“Thank you for spending this wonderful night with me. I wouldn’t have known what to do if you did not accompany.” I said
“As someone who likes you for a long time, it was a pleasure. My prom wouldn’t be that enjoyable and memorable if not for you,” he whispered
“Does that mean that we are dating starting today?” I asked innocently
He didn’t respond to my question but pulled me instead and lowered his face to match mine. I swallowed hard because I could feel my heart fluttering. He gave me a tight hug and a quick kiss.
“I better get going now. I want to spend more time with you but it is late and I know how tired you are. Good night and see you again on Monday.” he said
I waved goodbye to him and watch him get out of the gate before going inside. I laid down in bed that night smiling and contented. I fell asleep after I received a goodnight message from him. A lot of unexpected things happened tonight but it all ended with a happy memory.
