“As if!” he whispered
“I’m not feeling well and even said sorry but you’re still mad. Okay, I understand.” I said in a sad voice.
He looked at me with serious eyes as if he was trying to read what was on my mind. I clenched my mouth to stop myself from smiling because I am trying to play the pitiful card.
“Fine. I forgive you.” he sighed
I slowly smiled and then offered him a hug. He moved away and just tapped me on the back. I frowned because of what he did but he made a sign to look behind me. All of my friends were standing there and watching us.
“What are you doing here?” I asked
“The nurse asked us to leave because the boys were too noisy.” Jessica said
I stared at Jackson and Allyson and they looked away to avoid my eyes. I already know that they are the ones who were at fault.
“Thank you for visiting me but I think you need to go back to school now. I don’t want to be the reason if you will be late.” I said
Jessica and May nodded their heads before hugging me. Allyson and Jackson are still avoiding my gaze. I raised an eyebrow when they finally looked at me.
“Fine. We’re sorry because we got carried away and things happened.” Allyson finally said
“I’m still glad that you’re tied or else you would have smacked us already.” Jackson said softly.
“Are you saying something?” I asked Jackson.
I heard what he said but I pretended because it would lead to discussions and they might start teasing me.
“Oh no. I didn’t say anything. Anyways, I hope you get better. We really need to go back.” He said before walking away first.
“Thank goodness and your results are okay.” I said to Vladimir as soon as the doctor said that we could go home.
“I am also relieved that there is nothing wrong with your elbow. You still need to apply some cold compress on it though.” he said
I stared at him for a moment because of his sweetness. I snapped back to reality when I heard a car engine in front of us.
“If you need someone to accompany you in going back to the hospital for your wound then you can call you. It was my fault that you got hurt so..” I said
“Stop worrying about me. I am okay according to the doctor and I will say it again, it was an accident.” he smiled at me.
“Goodbye. I will see you again on Monday.” I bade goodbye when the car stopped in our neighborhood.
“See you around.” he nodded and watched me go down.
I was watering Nana’s plants when I heard a voice behind me. I took a deep breath before looking behind me.
“How are you? I dropped by the hospital when I was done with my work but they told me that you went home already.” a worried voice said as she checked my body.
“Aunt Sheina, I’m okay. You don’t have to be worried. I’m still breathing fine.” I said
She was speechless by what I said. I could see her eyebrows starting going up before she looked behind him. Ace was standing behind him with his headphones on and was startled when Aunt Sheina hit him on the arm.
“What did I do?” he asked surprised
“Look at what you taught her! Have you heard what she answered?” she said
I giggled and turned my back to compose myself. I might laugh in front of them and I’m afraid it would make Auntie more annoyed.
“What are you talking about? I did not teach her anything.” Ace said
“That is what she learned from hanging out with you.”
“Mom! I didn’t teach her to talk or answer like that. Why do you always blame me?” Ace said
“Of course, she would have learned it from you. You have been answering me in that way.”
“Umm, I know that you’re worried about me but you don’t have to because I’m really fine.” I said to stop her from blaming Ace
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, so you don’t have to be worried. Shall we go inside and have some tea?” I said before linking my arm to her.
“I need to go home and change my clothes and finish some of the work that I have. We are not on a holiday tomorrow.” she said
She checked my body again to see if there was something wrong with me. I turned around and raised my sleeves for her to be really content.
“I am really fine, Aunt Sheina.”
“I will believe you on that. Anyways, do not tire yourself out and you should rest more. I will go home first and then check on you later.” she said
I watched them go away before going back inside the house. I don’t know why I feel so tired when I haven’t done any vigorous activities. I turned on the TV and then laid on the sofa. I woke up when I smelled something nice coming from the kitchen.
“Are you awake already?” Ace said
“What are you doing here?” I asked
“You still cannot guess what I am doing here after what happened a while ago.” he said
I shook my head as I stared at him. I am still out of my mind since I just woke up and he has not come to our house for a long time.
“Then think of the reason why I am here. I don’t really want to explain myself.” he answered sarcastically
I rolled my eyes as I stood up and walked over to the kitchen. I am still yawning as I watch him prepare the food.
“Are you going to cook?” I asked
“What do you think? You can see it with your own eyes so why do you have to ask?”
“Did your mom beat your ass? Why are you so annoyed when I am only asking some questions?” I said
He sat down in front of me and stared at me. I swallowed hard because I suddenly felt uncomfortable.
“Stop staring. Is there something wrong with my face?” I said
He just raised an eyebrow before standing up and checked on the food he was cooking.
“Do you need help?” I asked
“No. I want you to sit still there and not disturb me.”
I stood up and went back to the living room to watch TV. He might explode if I get in his way and I am not in the mood to fight with him.
“Come here now and let us eat dinner.” he called me after some time.
“You’re going to have dinner with me?” I asked after sitting down
“Umm yeah. I really don’t have a choice. Oh, I occupied the guest room upstairs.”
“And you will sleep here?” I said in a bewildered voice
“Yeah. I don’t want to sleep outside.” he answered
I am sure that I was the one who got hurt and was brought to the hospital but why was he acting weird all of a sudden.
“Don’t look at me as if I have gone crazy. It was mom's order for me to come here and accompany you since you got hurt.” he said
I ate my food in silence and he also did the same. I can still feel the awkwardness around us. He stood up after finishing his dinner.
“Wash the dishes since I was the one who cooked.”
I nodded my head and looked at him as he went to the living room. I gobbled up the remaining food on my plate before clearing up the table.
“Do you want to drink some tea or coffee?” I asked him when I was done washing the dishes.
“No, thanks.” he answered, then focused again on the TV.
I made coffee before sitting down on the opposite side of the sofa. I was about to open the book that I am reading but the sound from the TV is too loud. I looked at Ace first before standing up and going to my room. I opened my laptop to turn on some music before reading the novel I haven’t finished yet.
“Oh gosh!” I shouted
“Oh. Did I startle you?” Ace asked
“What do you think? Would I shout and throw the book I was reading if I’m not shocked? Don’t you know how to knock?” I said
“I did knock on the door and I also know that you wouldn’t notice me because you are already in your own world.”
“What do you want?” I asked
“I am just checking on you. Are you okay?
“I am fine so don’t worry and leave me alone.” I said as I picked up the book.
He laid down and closed his eyes on my bed as if he didn’t hear what I said. I stared at him with disbelief.
