“Stop staring.” he said
“Why are you in my room? The guest room is in the other room.” I said
“Well, I missed talking to you.” he said
“We don’t really have anything to talk about.” I said
“Actually we do, we have a lot to talk about.” he whispered
“Can’t you just go straight to the point? What do you want?” I said
“Why are you so furious? I just wanted to talk.” he sat down and faced me
“I am thirsty.” I said before I stood up and went to the kitchen.
I wanted to run down the stairs to get away from him as fast as I could. My heart was beating fast and my hands were shaking as I drank water. Why am I like this when he just wanted to talk?
“Do you want some tea or coffee? I can make one for you.” I said calmly when he followed me to the kitchen.
“You shouldn’t be drinking coffee at this time. You will be having a hard time sleeping.” he said
“Then do you want some tea?” I said
“”I can manage. Just make some for yourself.” He said
“What do you want to talk about?” I said as I was making some tea.
“How are you?” he said in a very serious voice.
“I’m fine. You already know that I made friends in school.” I said
“I wasn’t really worried about that. I have faith in you that you can make friends easily. You know why I am asking you how you’re doing.”
“If you were talking about that incident in the past then don’t worry about that.” I said shrugging my shoulders before sitting down in front of him
I stared at him when I heard him let out a sigh. I opened my eyes and mouth wide and blinked my eyes a couple of times.
“Stop that! I am trying to be serious here.” he said smiling
“Not too serious because it is awkward.” I said
“I still want to say sorry for what happened before. I know that I should have talked to you and listened to your side of the story.”
“It’s already in the past. Let’s forget about that.” I said
“I know how hurt you were because of what happened so I want to apologize. You started avoiding me after that incident.” he said
I smiled faintly because of what he said. I can still remember the incident where I was humiliated in front of many students of our school because of a love letter. Someone asked me to give it to him but it was snatched by a random student while we were having a flag ceremony.
“It’s not a big deal. It was already in the past so it is better for us to forget it.” I said
“I know that I should have hidden the letter. I have a lot of what if’s about that incident. I never wanted you to be humiliated in front of many students.”
“Oh really. I doubt that.” I whispered
“You know that I was a model student so I can’t disobey the teacher’s order. My friends were also there.” he said
I squinted my eyes because of what he said. Does he really have to make excuses on why he did that thing before. I only needed a sincere apology but here he is trying to save his ass.
“I think it is better not to say sorry if you are not apologizing sincerely.” I said
“Why are you making things more complicated? I am apologizing.” he said
“Of course you are. Your apology is so delayed but you still manage to make up excuses. I can understand that you were a model student before and you can’t disobey our teachers but you should have said something when your friends bullied me.” I said with an annoyed voice
“I didn’t know that you would be affected.” he said
“Huh! Of course you wouldn’t know because you always look away every time. You never really cared.” I said before leaving him while stomping my feet
“Why are you leaving again? I want us to make amends.” he said
I looked back at him and snickered. I closed the door in my room since he already knows that he is not allowed to disturb me. I put on my headset and played a movie on my laptop.
“Hey. I cooked some fried chicken. Wanna have some midnight snacks?” Ace said as his head popped at the door
“Are you trying to bribe me?” I said
“I was just wondering if you wanted to eat something since it is already half past 12 but you’re still awake having a movie marathon. I can bring it here if you want.” he said smiling
I stared at him seriously while pursing my lips tightly. He knows that I cannot resist his fried chicken so he is using it to talk to me. I heard my stomach make a sound.
“So.. What do you think? You need to decide fast unless you want it cold.” he winked at me
I closed my laptop and then walked past him without giving him a glance. I immediately grabbed a piece of chicken that he placed in the living room. He had placed the movie Harry Potter on the TV that was waiting to be played.
“How is it?” he asked me as soon as he sat down beside me.
“Jerk!” I whispered
“I will pretend that I did not hear what you said. How is it?” he asked again
“It’s just how I remembered it.” I said while staring at the movie
“Soooo….”
“What? Go straight to the point.” I said
“You already know what I wanted to say.”
“Why are you obsessing on that? I already said that it was already in the past.” I said
“I’m really sorry. I mean it.” he said
I looked at him while biting on the chicken leg that I was holding. I was chewing slowly as I stared at him.
“I promise,” he said, smiling faintly while looking me straight in the eyes.
“Ugh! Cringe! Here, eat!” I said before giving him a chicken
“Hey, that’s not fair. I am trying to be sincere here.” he said
“I know that you’re sincere and I have already forgiven you. I am just feeling awkward around you. I’m having goosebumps with that look from you.” I said
“You said, you wanted me to say sorry sincerely.” he said
“I did but don’t make that smug look of yours. Ughh! I can’t take it.” I said as I shuddered with the thought.
“Fine. You already said that you have forgiven me. You can’t take that back.”
I nodded my head and then focused on watching the movie. I know that we needed to have a heart to heart talk but I can’t stand his seriousness.
“I won’t take it back so you can stop staring now.” I said stuttering.
My heart was beating fast and I was afraid that he would notice it. I still like him after all.
“Why are you blushing? Do you still like me that much?” he whispered on my ears
I could feel my face heating up. He is trying to make fun of me again. I drank water first before facing him.
“If I said yes, would you kiss me?” I whispered back at him
He was caught off-guard by what I said that he was unable to say something. I immediately snapped a photo using my phone. I giggled at his photo which made him come back to reality.
“Where did you learn to answer like that?” he asked
“Stop treating me like a child. For the record, I don’t like you that much anymore. I only like you as an older brother so stop being so confident.” I said
“Ouch! I didn’t expect you to say something hurtful.” he said while holding his chest
“Stop being so dramatic.” I smirked at him
“Remember that I am still older than you.” he frowned
I stuffed a chicken on his mouth to stop him from talking. I want to focus on watching Harry Potter while enjoying the chicken.
“Fine. I will keep my mouth shut.” he said
I slowly opened my eyes when I felt the hot sunlight on my feet. I closed my eyes before opening them again to make sure that I was not dreaming. I looked around and realized that I am really inside my room. It was already 9 in the morning according to the clock on the wall.
I was still out of my mind as I washed my face. I started brushing my teeth as I went downstairs to drink water. I stopped on my tracks when I saw a boy cooking in the kitchen.
“Oh, you’re awake. Good morning. I haven’t seen you looking like a mess for a long time.” Ace said smiling
I choked when I realized who was inside my house. I forgot that he was here last night to keep me company. I ran to the sink and finished brushing before facing him again.
