“Settle down everyone. Breaktime is already over. I will give you 30 minutes to study your notes before the exam. I will come back later.” he announced before leaving
“You better cover those ones and continue eating them after the exam.” Althea said
“It’s fine, we can eat while reviewing. Oh Let me go and get my notes so we can review here together. The others are also sitting with their friends so…” Jackson said
“You really don’t listen to what I say. Every time I say something, you always have something to say in return.” Althea clapped back
“We are just trying to spend some time with you. It is our final exam and we will go on vacation for two months. We won’t be seeing you for a long time.” Allyson said
“Oh stop it! I know too well that you won’t miss me. You just wanted to annoy me for the remaining school days.” Althea scoffed at them
I smiled as I watched them bicker with each other. I should be shaking my head because Althea seems like the boyish type and I still can’t understand why these boys are friends with her. I find her unique and cute though.
“Oh sorry. We might be disturbing you so if you find us noisy and feel uncomfortable you can tell us.” Althea whispered to me.
“No, not at all. I can still focus on my notes so no problem.” I whispered back to her
“You can just call us out if you feel like we are being rowdy. Don’t be shy to get some food there.” she grinned after speaking which made me stunned.
I nodded and reached out to try the turon when I heard some noise coming from the door. It even caught some attention of our classmates who aren’t really studying.
“Umm hello classmates! Can we come inside?” Jessica said loudly
“Do you really have to ask permission? Of course we can. It is still study time so they can’t call us out.” Hannah said before waving in our directions
I looked back to check on Althea but she was busy reading and highlighting her notes seriously. I nudged her softly to get her attention before looking back at the door. She stood up immediately and walked to the door.
“What the heck are you doing here? You’re not supposed to be going around the classrooms when we were told to review.” she said to them
Jessica and May brushed past her and walked directly towards our table. Most of our classmates are looking back in our direction as if something interesting is going to happen.
“We are on our break since we finished the exam late. We remembered you saying that there is food.” Jessica said
“Where is it? I hope you didn’t give it to them.” Hannah said while staring at us.
“Can you keep your voice down? People are studying and your voices are too loud. You really cannot wait for the lunch break to come and get the snack that I mentioned.” Althea said while looking at them dumbfounded.
“Our brains got tired from the exam so we are hungry.” Jessica answered
“Fine. I really don’t have anything to say when it comes to food. Did you not eat breakfast?” Althea asked them
“Food is food. Breakfast was already digested.” Jessica said
“Why are you staring at our food? This is ours so look away.” Allyson said when he caught Jessica and May staring.
“How greedy can you be?! Are you really not going to share if they will ask for a bite?” Althea asked
I covered my mouth to stop me from laughing out loud when I saw Jackson, Henry and Allyson shaking their heads while taking a bite on the cake. It’s as if all of them talked to each other to make the same gesture.
“I still can’t believe that all of my friends are the same when it comes to food.” Althea said before grabbing another paper bag from her bag.
“Thank you. We need to go now since we already disturbed you. The other students might start complaining.” May said as she grabbed the bag.
“We’ll see you at lunch time.” Jessica winked
I could hear Althea sigh as she watched them go out of the room. I immediately looked away when she caught me staring at her. I cleared my throat and then focused on my notes.
“Why are you watching her move around? You should be ignoring her. What if she feels awkward having you around?” I scolded myself
“You should go now in your seats since you have already finished eating.” I heard Althea said
I can see her collecting the tupperwares and pushing them to go away on the side of my eyes.
“We want to stay here. Can’t we review our notes here all together?” Allyson said, pouting.
“Umm, can I compare my notes to yours? I might have missed some important details.” Althea said to me as she moved her chair nearer.
“Wow! Are you close friends now? You really have the nerve to ignore us now.” Allyson said again
“Since you have noticed it then go away. We may not have known each other for a long time but I know you three.” Althea said to them
“What? As if we are going to do something bad. Remember that we are in school.” Jackson answered back
Althea gestured to them to move closer and the three of them leaned . I think 10 seconds have passed before Henry spoke.
“What do you want to say? Is it a secret? Why aren’t you talking?”
I looked back at them when I heard some tonk sounds. Althea had flicked them and they were holding their foreheads while frowning.
“Go back to your seats! We will just be talking about nonsense things and no studying will happen if we will be together. We are all bad influences to each other when it comes to studying during exams.” Althea smirked
“We aren’t like that!” Henry said while shaking his head
“Do you want another flick? I can give you a stronger one! I’ve had enough of you three.” Althea threatened them while stretching her hands.
“Fine! I’m going since I know how strong your flick is.” Jackson said standing up.
“I am watching you. I will deal with you one of these days.” Allyson said before following Jackson
“Look after her okay? She is annoying but very precious. She might even help you with the exam.” Henry said to me before patting my back
“Take care princess. See you later.” Henry whispered to Althea
I almost choked on my saliva because of what he said. When did he start being so cheesy? I can’t believe that the shy and not talkative friend of mine said those words.
“Yuck! Go away! You could really use some beating.” Althea said in an annoyed voice before acting as if she was gagging.
Henry smirked and laughed as he walked away. I shook my head to remove the thought from my head.
“Why do you look so disgusted when he is your friend?” Althea asked
“He never did that before, that is why I never expected him to do that. I don’t know what he ate to be doing that.” I replied
She smiled slightly before ignoring me to focus on her notes. I am still in awe of the big change that happened to Henry. I think I need to talk to him after the exam to check if he is doing okay. He might be sick right now, that's why he was acting weird.
“I don’t know how he is when you’re around him but he is always acting weird when he is around me. I can understand him since we are both introverts and homebody.” Althea said
“He must be comfortable around you to act like that. I think you’re the first girl to be his friend.” I answered her
“I’m not really sure if I should be happy with that. I know that he is also your friend but he is annoying at times. I will stop there and let us focus now on studying.”
I approached Henry when the exam was over and we were on our lunch break. We brought lunch boxes so we won’t have to go home. He was bringing out his lunchbox when I sat down in front of him.
“Are you going to eat lunch now?” I asked
“I’m just preparing. I was planning on eating with Althea. Why?” he answered
“Are you feeling well?” I said while studying him
“Of course I am. Why shouldn’t I be?” Henry smiled
“Are you sure?” I asked again to make sure before I touched his forehead.
“What are you doing? I already said that I am okay.” he said while avoiding my hand
“Do you know that you’re acting weird?” I stared at him
“No, I’m not. I am my normal self so why are you saying that I am weird.”
