I heard their footsteps going out of the CR. We stayed at the cubicle for some time just to make sure that they had already gone out.
“Are you okay?” I said as I assisted her to stand up.
“I’m fine. Thanks, my feet must have been asleep. Can you check if they already left?” she said while massaging her calves
I unlocked the cubicle and peeped outside. No one was inside the CR so I looked back at her and nodded. She breathed deeply before going out of the cubicle.
“Can you stop pacing back and forth? You’re making me dizzy.” I said
“Oh! You’re still here. I thought you went out already.” she said surprised
“This is a men’s CR so I thought that I would accompany you in case someone enters again.”
“Right. It’s getting late. I think we need to go home now. I’m sure those jerks already went home. Your friends might also be waiting for you.” she said
She was walking ahead of me when I noticed Daniel standing near the gate as if waiting for someone. Althea stopped when she saw him and was about to go back but she saw me following her.
“Can we talk?” Daniel said when he noticed Althea.
“Oh, I’m with Vladimir. We were about to go home.” Althea said as she pulled me while I was walking past them.
“Me? I…” I was about to shake my head when I felt a pinch on my arm
“I just wanted to talk to you even if it is just for a short time. I also need to catch a ride home.” Daniel said
“Althea!” Henry’s voice boomed that made us all look back
He was running towards us and was about to hug Althea when he noticed Daniel. I find it funny when he puts down his arms slowly.
“What is happening here? Did I interrupt something?” Henry asked
“Ah, Daniel was asked if he could walk home with us. I was planning on walking home to release the stress from the exams.” Althea answered while staring at me as if asking me to help her out.
Daniel looked so confused as he looked at Althea but he nodded his head and smiled instead. I smiled and nodded my head while staring at Henry to give him a signal. He nodded his head and smiled back.
“Ahh. I forgot that Vladimir and I needed to do something so we needed to catch a ride home. Daniel is with you so I think you would be fine.” Henry said
“But..” Althea said
“I will see you on Monday okay?” Henry said
“What are you doing?” I asked him as he drag me away
“I noticed the awkwardness in the air and since we all know that they have a past, I know that they needed to talk to each other. They can’t do that if we are with them. We have to give them space.” he answered
I bit my lips to stop myself from talking because, in reality, I wanted to stay and listen to their story. Maybe I am curious about their past because Daniel never told me.
“Are you not interested in Althea? You will just allow them to talk together.” I asked him
“Why do you keep on asking that question? Oh my gosh! Don’t tell me that you’re interested in Althea!” he looked at me with suspicious eyes
“I’m not. Why would I be interested in her?” I snorted and looked ahead
“Really? Why do I feel that you wanted to ask a lot of questions today? It’s okay to like someone.” He said
“I am not admitting that I like her but… What if one day I told you that I like her?” I asked to see his reaction
“Are you serious? Do you like her?” he asked
“Ha? I said, what if in the future,” I said
“I can’t answer that now but you should inform first if you fell for her. She is too precious and we might fight if you will hurt her,” he answered
“Are you saying that you won’t give way if we fall in love with the same girl in the future?”
“I don’t think that we will fall for the same girl. We are the opposite pole so I guess we have different ideal girls,” he replied
I shrugged and continued walking. We haven’t talked about our ideal girls since relationships aren’t in our minds at the moment. I am sure with myself that I don’t like Althea and I don’t think I will fall for her. We won’t have any problems if Henry will like Althea. We stopped by the store to buy some ice cream when some churchmates of Henry passed by.
“Do you want to come with us? I forgot that we have some activities to do at church. I need to go with them,” he pointed to his churchmates who were waiting.
“You can go ahead. I can catch a ride easily so don’t mind me.” I said
“I will see you on Monday then.” he bade goodbye
I watched him walk away as I eat my ice cream. I don’t want to go home yet but I can’t see any of my friends around. I decided to finish eating my ice cream first before grabbing a ride home since I don’t want to walk alone.
“You better treat me for ice cream since you left me there alone.” I heard Althea say
I looked back and saw her almost knitting her eyebrows. You can tell that she is annoyed and didn’t like what I did.
“Where is Daniel?” I asked
“There, on his way home,” she said pointing to Daniel walking away.
“So how’s the conversation?” I asked
“Are you expecting some good news? Let me break your bubble because nothing happened. He just stared at me and didn’t say anything. Where is my ice cream?” she demanded
“Are you okay now?” I asked as she bite her ice cream.
“Do you want to walk home?” she asked after nodding her head
“Aren’t you worried that people might see us together and think that I am your boyfriend?”
“What? Are you kidding? Everyone knows that we are friends so no one will think like that. We may not be close but we have walked home together a lot of times,” she laughed
“Okay fine, you have a point so you don’t have to rub it. That was still painful,” I said pouting
“Let’s go home since it is getting late. I don’t want to be scolded,” she said leaving me
I shook my head as I followed her. I caught up with her since she has short legs and cannot walk that fast. She was focused on eating her ice cream and was ignoring me.
“So…” I said to get her attention
“Why?”
“Care to share about your past?” I said
“What about my past?”
“You and Daniel…”
“What about us?” she said as she looked at me looking innocent
“Don’t you want to talk about it? I am curious about your story,”
“We didn’t have a past and there was no love story. He wasn’t my ex-lover,” she said
“Your beloved friends told us that you have a thing in the past so why are you denying it?”
“It is up to you if you will believe them or me. I am not forcing you so I will say it again, he is not my ex.” I said
“Maybe you still love him that is why you don’t want to admit it,” I teased her
“Be thankful that I got my share of sugar so I will let you off for teasing me,” she said
“Do you like him?” I asked again
“You have seen how we treat each other. Does it look like I like him? Are you asking for a beating?” she was shaking her head
“Why? Are you going to beat me up?” I provoked her
“Not today because I don’t have the energy but I will beat you up someday,” she smirked
I laughed when she smirked because she looked so cute. I am trying to imagine how she would look if she got mad. I only stopped when I saw her glaring.
“I’m sorry. You look so cute.” I raised my hand as if surrendering.
“Why do I feel like you’re just another Jackson or Allyson? I think I should cut you off early,” she said
“Oh come on. Don’t be too serious. Don’t be like that,” I said
“You will have to treat me to another ice cream if you will keep on teasing me. I don’t forget things easily,” she whispered.
“Does that mean I can tease you as long as I will treat you another ice cream?” I asked
“Are you trying to get on my nerves? I might beat you up today. Vacation is almost here anyway so you have a lot of time to heal,” she said
“Are you sure that you can beat me up? I am bigger and taller than you. What if I suddenly kissed you accidentally just like what happens in those romantic movies that you love watching?”
She stopped in her tracks and stared at me with her mouth wide open. She squinted also her eyes before opening them widely when the words I said sank in.
