Chapter 33 ALL IS WELL

ALL IS WELL
'All is well that end well' Isaac told me two days later.
'You did so well, Isaac. You know that I became awed by your show of love towards the wayward Phillip.' I replied.
Isaac came to visit me and I became grateful for his coming. I was a bit down. It could be stress that brought me down. My throat was parched and had been vomiting all day long. When Isaac called I was glad.
'You mean you've been throwing up? I'm coming over please!' He voiced.
Before an hour, he was around to take care of me. Being a consultant himself, he examined me and gave me an injection to sleep. I woke up feeling strong and much better.
'Phillip is a changed man now, Derin!'
'That wicked sexually depraved guy' I replied, pouting my lips, and furrowing my eyebrows.
'Derin, It's not Phillip's fault.'
'Is it my fault?'
'Listen to me, my love!' Isaac reiterated gazing into my eyes. He stood up and beckoned me to stand up. He drew me very close to himself and my breathing almost stopped. This is one man that takes my breath away. I sighed because I was almost suffocating.
I coughed and he withdrew and went back to sit down. I became disappointed because I wanted him closer, but couldn't bear to say it.
'You were saying something about Phillip.' I reminded.
He bent his head as if thinking. What was going on in his handsome head? He called me his love for the very first time!
Finally, he raised his head and declared,
I'm in love with you Derin. You have stolen my heart away. I have not been able to concentrate on anything. Your thoughts..' He halted and stood up, to go.
'Where do you think you are going?' I seemed to find my voice.
'You've made up your mind to reject me because of Sophia. There is no need to convince you again.' He declared, with a sober face.
I moved closer to him, and cupped his face in my slender hands, he smirked and his face gleamed with joy written all over him.
'Can we talk about Phillip, my heart?'
'Hmmm, I love you to say this again!'
'I will love to keep on saying this for the rest of my life.
'Are you proposing to me, Derin ?'
'Oh no, I've been waiting for you to make the overture, my heart.
'Which one should I say first?' He demanded.
'Tell me about us first!'
He knelt down and declared,
'Will you marry me?'
The door was flung open and Lilian came in. She looked at us and screamed.
'No not now, please! I'm here to discuss my burden with Derin. Phillip said that he can not marry me. Can you imagine?'
Isaac got up and sat down, while I went to hold Lilian in my embrace.
'Listen here Lilian, You cannot force Phillip to marry you. He has accepted to father your child and that of your cousin. That should be sufficient. After all, it was just a fling, nothing serious. Give Phillip a break to sort out his life. Isaac growled.
I felt he was unusually harsh on Lilian. I have never seen him talk like that to a lady.
To calm my friend down I decided to encourage her.
'Who knows if the two of you may later find solace in each other. Just be an ordinary friend to him first. Anything can happen.'
'Oh, my God! I'm brought low. How could I have fallen so cheaply with Phillip?'
'That's okay girl. No one is perfect. Just give him a break. Let him be please baby girl.' I pleaded.
'Don't give false hope. Let Phillip be left alone. God has a perfect plan for you. Hand over your life to Him.
'Do you think it is easy to be a single mother, Isaac? Why are you so cold and insensitive?' Lilian yelled.
'Oh, I didn't realise that. Forgive my firmness. I hate to sound negative but you are expecting too much. Look at what has just occurred.
Phillip was about to get married to the lady he considered worthy. All were dashed. They were preparing to wed in about two months. He is shattered. Please get hold of yourself, dear sister. Move on with your life.
'You are right Isaac. I'm only being selfish. Thanks for speaking sense to me.'
Just as Lilian was about going the door flung open again!
I was amazed to discover that my house has become a meeting point again!
'Oh, it's you again?
I hope there is no problem.
'Why all these questions, can't I visit my friend again before I travel to Nigeria?'
'I'm sorry, but I do not want any quarrel again!
'And why should I quarrel with Lily?' Kate mumbled.

I didn't expect to find a Christian content in romance novel. It feels really refreshing and new. Keep it up!
