"Where is Phillip?" Kate kept on asking the nurses and they became frantic. All efforts to get Phillip proved abortive.
As soon as I got to Kate's ward, the nurses yelled, "Thank God, Dr. Derin is around!!!"
"Ha ha, is there any trouble?" I demanded from one of the nurses. They looked cheerful upon sighting me as if I am the cure to Kate's pain.
"A lot of problems Dr. She has been screaming, speaking incoherent words. We tried to calm her down but to no avail. Mr. Phillip is not reachable. We are not able to do a thing. We've succeeded in giving her drugs but she needs food.
I glided and met her a bit drowsy, looking like a moron. I touched her neck and she pouted her lips and looked the other way.
Then I did the unthinkable and yelled out, "Phillip, please come over here." That was to no one in particular. I kept on. She became alert, and stirred up herself, looking in the direction of the door with a smirk on her face.
How I prayed that Phillip would appear. I was thinking about what to say next when a man came right in, looking handsome with a smirk on his face.
"I am right here, my love." Turning to me. I stood stupefied.
"Who are you?" I managed to talk.
"I am Phillips. Were you not calling me?"
Then I quickly changed my mind and talked
"Yes, Yes, welcome Phillips, it's my friend asking for you?" I uttered pointing to Kate looking dazed on the bed.
"What happened to the beautiful lady?"
"Yeah, she is, em- looking for you. Why can't you just sit down and make her comfortable?"
"Hey pretty, I am here for you." Phillips declared, touching her cheeks and playing with one of her fingers.
"Wow! This is good. I better leave the two of you to tangle." I left them to go to my patients while the two were alone.
The nurses later told me that the new man is the psychiatrist that took over from the former one.
"Oh, my God! What a beautiful coincidence."
"You need to see Dr. Phillips gisting with your friend as if they had known each other for years." One of the nurses spilled out.
"Then Phillip is free from Kate then."
I made a call to Phillip telling him not to come again so that the psychiatrist can be more acquainted with her.
Could you imagine that by the next day, when I went to see my friend, she was not there again?
"Dr. Derin, I forgot to tell you that Kate, your sick friend is in Dr. Phillips' house. She held on to him and refused to leave him. The poor doctor had to go home with her."
"What the fucking hell is that?" I screamed and called Isaac to see me.
"Hope there is no problem?" He said sweetly.
"Kate slept in the psychiatrist's house!"
"Wow, that's too dramatic."
I explained the whole saga to him. He kept on shaking his head.
"So both you and Phillip wanted her to tangle with another. Your thoughts and desires are granted. This is interesting then. Maybe we should know the doctor and thank him for being so kind.
" Or he should thank us for having Kate free of charge." We both giggled. Phillip met us and asked,
"Hey two love birds, can I share in your joy."
"Of course, what you both planted with my love has germinated so fast beyond your imagination." Isaac teased.
"Hey mon ami, we were just thinking aloud and never meant it."
"I'm lost please, make things plain my man." Phillip pleaded.
Just as Isaac wanted to talk, Dr. Phillips came in holding his patient Kate, and the two looked like a perfect couple. Kate's face was lit with joy and full of life.
"Here comes the latest couple. No more controversy. Phillip meets your brother Dr. Phillips the new Psychiatrist." I joked before they could come to us.
"Hi Derin, you have been asking after me right?" Kate rushed to my side.
"Yes of course. How are you doing?"
"I'm well now. I had to follow Dr. Phillips home. He is such a great kind-hearted man. Please do appreciate him for me. Hi Isaac, thank you for everything."
"Hi Phillip, how are you doing? Meet my doctor, Phillips." Kate introduced him.
"Wow, Dr. Phillips, I'm so full of joy for giving your attention," Phillip said.
"Well, it's a pleasure. Kate has told me about every one of you. She is fine and I have told her people to come and see her before she returns to my house." Dr. Phillips explained.
"Oh my God, isn't that too early?" Phillip screamed.
"What do you mean, "too early?" I scolded furrowing my face.
"What he meant was that she should be allowed to stay in the hospital for a while." Isaac clarified.
"Hmmm, I think Kate will be better in his house." I insisted
Isaac glanced at me, and I looked away.
"It's me we are talking about. I want to stay with Dr. Phillips. I'm comfortable there. The hospital makes me sick."
"Dr.Phillips, do you mind?" Phillip asked.
"He doesn't mind, unlike you that shattered our lives. He is too much of a gentleman to misbehave." Kate grew angry with Phillip.
"So he is your new catch, right? Better give him a chance to think through." Phillip shared his mind.
"It's not your business. Just go away. I don't need you again." Kate responded.
"Okay now, I'm on my way right away," Phillip replied.
"Please, ladies, and gentlemen, I am inviting you to my house. Tomorrow is her birthday and supposedly the day of her planned wedding and that cannot be. Let's make her happy."
"Happy Birthday Kate. I'm very sorry for being insensitive though. Dr. Phillip thank you so much. I'm very grateful. I will be there." Phillip declared. He went to Kate and kissed her on her forehead.
"Kate, please you remain my friend forever. Forgive me." Philip said again.
All of us clapped and Kate was happily smiling.
"Derin, get us a cake and food." Isaac declared.
"Yes, of course, the bills on me."
"Yes, the bills on us." Isaac corrected.
"Aww, this is awesome! " Kate said holding her face with excitement.
