"Derin, Please Dr. Derin! Where are you?" I heard a voice, a familiar voice, a frantic voice, from afar.
Isaac's eyes started to dilate, he was wondering why the voice was hysterical.
"Who could be looking for you at this early hour of the morning? Do you know the voice, my love?"
"Yea, I think it could be Kate." I moaned, raising my hands in despair. I recalled that I had not acquainted him with my responsibility. Now I have no choice but to stand up for whatever is right.
"It's like you have been hiding something from me, I guess!" Isaac pouted his lips.
"Not really, the truth is that I wanted to but you were mad at me. I had no choice but to keep mute.
Kate wanted me to mediate and get Phillip for her. Phillip on the other hand love Lilian and desire that I should reconcile them."
"Seriously? Huuu. So what do you want to do?" Isaac smiled.
"I don't know but I feel Phillip should go for the woman who is with his child. It's only right that Phillip should marry the one he loves."
"Yes, a broken courtship is better than a broken marriage. Kate should forget about Phillip. He has no love for her. I pity her though. Please don't get me wrong. She deserves someone who is heads over heels in love with her."
"I quite understand you very well. After all, I should be like Abigail in the Bible, a good and understanding woman. I'm glad we are on the same page, Isaac."
"I'm glad too, my love. A man should be understanding too. The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:7
"Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered."
"Hmmm, I love this. So if husbands do not understand their wife's weakness and maltreat them, their prayers may not be answered?"
"Yes, it's like that. I forgave you because God wants me to understand your weakness as a woman. You are weaker emotionally."
"But some ladies do not agree that they are weaker."
"Even some men do not believe it too."
"What does God mean?"
"I believe that we should know that a woman is different and not as strong emotionally. They need our help and love to stabilize them.
God wants us to be more caring towards our women. Treat them well and not quarrel with them. Okay. And it takes a lot of maturity not to quarrel with women. They can be unreasonable sometimes." Isaac declared with a sober look.
"Gosh, I agree with you. They can behave like a child sometimes. Unnecessarily demanding!" I yelled in excitement.
The door of Isaac's office opened and Kate rushed at me. I quickly held her in my embrace while she wept on my shoulders.
"This is not happening to me? I'm finished!!!" She wailed, tears streaming from her pretty face.
"That is okay Kate, what is the problem?" I asked desiring to know.
"Phillip told me plainly that he doesn't love me. He wants Lilian and has determined to have her. Can you imagine this son of a bitch?" She moaned in pain.
"No, I'm not a son of a bitch. I'm sorry but I have my senses opened enough to know what is right for me. I made a mistake but it's all working for my good. I now know that I love Lilian and would love to live the rest of my life with the mother of my child.
Can you please stop railing abuses and curses at me? Please! I don't want to hurt you further. I've done enough damage. Allow me to take the responsibility for my child. He deserves a good home too. God will give you your home. We are not meant to be." Phillip explained.
Phillip and Kate met and had a serious talk about their relationship. Phillip took his stand for Lilian.
"Kate that is enough!!!
We've spoken a lot about this. Why are you insisting on deriding yourself? You doubt your worth a lot. You are somebody's wife and he will soon locate you. Stop being desperate. You are a valuable woman. Be patient." Isaac counselled and she stopped crying.
"Thank you, Isaac, for believing in my stand as a man. I've lived a rough life and it's high time I changed from this destructive life of promiscuity." Phillip uttered.
He looked frail and exhausted. It has not been easy on him. I respected his decision and I hope Kate will understand too.
"Dear Kate, please don't be hard on yourself. You deserve a better man. Look at you. You are beautiful and intelligent. Someone's dream of a woman. Don't lose it. Please, my friend!!!" I hugged her again.
"Honestly, I am sick and tired of crying. I wish to stop but I can't." She muttered.
"To be candid, you can. Change your mindset. Phillip is not your man!!!" Isaac scolded her.
She let out a scream, holding her two ears. I felt she wanted to be free too. She started to pace back and forth, mumbling incoherent words. Isaac looked at me.
I knew she had entered into trauma. We rushed her out to one of the wards and invited a psychiatrist to attend to her. She was given an injection and slept off.
"What do I do?" Phillip whispered.
"What do you think?"
