We were chatting and laughing so loud like we had known each other for a very long time. Luckily, their was a loud music playing in the bar, so our laughter wasn't that penetrating, except you were too close to our table. Stacy was a very funny, lively and jovial lady. She was bringing up funny ideas and I bet no one could resist the urge to laugh, except the person is a sadist, of which I am sure not one. I didn't know she was this friendly, light hearted and so free. Though, she mentioned that I looked and acted different from other guys that she meets, that was one reason she was being like that. Let me add that I said a little words of prayer of gratefulness when she mentioned that and of course, I was proud of myself. We were still talking about some silly stuff and laughing about it. "Hahahaha. I remember the first time my elder brother returned from the US after just four years of study. Oh my goodness, hahahaha. I couldn't stop laughing, because I could predict what the next statement of hers would be. "His changed his accent and you know, my Mom got pissed off. It was my Dad that still supported him. My brother had issues with my mom, because she travels to a lot of countries for years and her accent didn't just change like that. Hahaha. My mom said she won't send him out again if he continues like that. Guess what? She said, laughing hysterically. "The next morning he continued with his usual African speech, ha ha." I added still in laughter. "Exactly. I used that incident to taunt him. I still do that now, especially when he's trying to brag. I just use that to humble him." She said, this time the laughter had subsided a little. We still went on with our little chitchat, bringing up old memories of ours and tabling it for discussion as that was majorly the only thing we thought we could discuss that would make me more lively, as she suggested. Thanks to her it was working and at that point when we were chatting, I had forgotten my predicament just as I had wanted. I knew it wasn't going to last for ever, but then, it would give me more opportunity to let out my pain before going back to think of a way to sort things out. After a while, I heard my phone ringing, so I took it up from the table where I kept it earlier. Checking the caller ID, I saw it was Eddy. "Uhm, please spare me some time, I need to take this call." "Oh go on, it's no problem. I might have to leave now though. I have an appointment with someone." She replied. I looked at her questioningly but she just shrugged and signalled me to take the call. I whispered to her asking her not to leave till I am done with the call. She agreed and stayed put while I went ahead to answer the call that came in from Eddy. "Hey buddy, what's up? I was going to call you before I go to bed." "Hey, my man. Seriously, you should have seen me earlier. Damn man. I got into a serious fight with Jessica today. You know the lady I told you that I have been hanging with lately? "Uhmm, the nurse lady? What's her name again? I asked, still trying to recall what he said her name was. "Just forget her name for the meantime, that isn't the reason I brought it up." "Wait, so you guys still hang out? You only mentioned it twice to me and I remember telling you to give up on that chase because you have a wife. You still went on with the goose chase? Hope you guys haven't done any stuff yet? I asked in a more rather stern voice. "Calm down Alex. Well, we haven't. But..." "Good good. That's the important thing I want to hear. So, tell me, what happened between you and Jessica this time around? I asked. "It's about the nurse lady. She caught me today Alex, red handed." Eddy confessed though in a remorseful way. "Damn! Shit. This has gone bad. But how? How did you let that happen? I asked, very concerned about him. "I left my phone and she saw it by mistake. Unfortunately, the lady was calling. I think she wanted to get me the phone. I used this sweetheart emoji to save her contact, so Jessica got pissed off and started to call me a cheat and all sorts of names. Yeah I tried to apologise to her because I know I messed up, but then she wouldn't listen to me." "I can't believe this is happening right now. I don't even know what to say to you." "I understand if you say whatever, but I know that... Wait, are you still in the bar? Eddy tripped over all of a sudden, now sounding excited. "Yeah, I still am. You wanna come around? I asked. "I am on my way already. Are you alone or with someone? He asked. "With a lady. Just come around you will see her when you do, okay." "A lady? Owwww. Is this pot calling kettle black now, huh? He asked ridiculously in a way to make a jest of me. "Actually, it's far from what you think and if you don't come around quickly, you will miss out on the interesting topic we have at hand." I added, just to make him come around without hesitation. "That's my guy. I will be there in a jiffy okay. See you soon Alex." "Yep." I said lastly before dropping the call. "I hope everything is okay? Stacy asked after I had ended the call with Eddy. "Still family issue or something? "Of course, everything is fine and it wasn't family issue okay. I was talking to my best friend. He is actually on his way here now and would be here probably in the next ten minutes." "Your best friend? You guys are having a reunion or something? "Hahaha. You are really funny Stacy. He was supposed to come with me earlier, but he was very busy with something. I think he is free now, that was why he called." I lied, to avoid further questions. "Oh that's cool." "Yeah yeah. He is on his way here, like I said. So I would introduce him to you when he comes around. He is a nice guy actually." "Well, uhm I don't think that would be possible, just easier said than done." "Why? Is there a problem or something? I asked, wondering why she would bring that up and quite confused at the same time. "No no, not at all. I would love to meet him, but I am not sure I can wait. While you were on a call, I got a message from someone I need to meet. So, I should be on my way right now. My apologies for that." She answered giving off that innocent look. "No no no, that's fine, trust me. Your work is definitely important and I would be the last person to stop you from attending to it. I just guess we would meet again, Stacy." I assured her, like I was the time keeper of the universe. "Yeah, I guess so. Would you mind if I get your contact details, so I can give you a call some day? She asked, smiling seductively and wriggling her body. "Well, yeah, yeah. That's simple." I answered, whilst smiling back at her. I touched my pockets to check if I had my business card in it, but I didn't find out. I checked my wallet and was lucky to find one in it. I handed it over to her, while she collected it from me without wasting time. "Call me when you are less busy." I said to her, as she took the card from me. "That won't be a problem Alex. I would definitely put a call across. You will get a call from me. Anyway, at this juncture, let's call it a night, shall we." "Have a blessed night and thanks for keeping me company. I really do appreciate your time and company." I complimented, with she giggling. "We kept each other company, so I am really grateful for allowing me join you." "I am glad you took the bold step to come around and say hi. Thank you once again." She laughed briefly. I hope I will see you soon then." She said that, turned around and walked stylishly out of the bar. Her carriage and boldness was out of this world and I found myself admiring that silently. Few minutes later, she had disappeared into the darkness outside the bar and I was left alone on the table once again. I had no other at that moment, so I went back to my drink again, quietly waiting for Eddy to show up anytime.
