Xi Song's POV While walking, we reached a corner in the lobby. Xia Na looked around before telling me anything. Her fiery eyes would burn me down if she could. At such a time, I tried to recall all my mistakes. What did I do that made her look at me with such eyes? I squinted when she mentioned Chen Ting. Did she know her? "Xingyue met Chen Ting." For a second, I couldn't process her words. What did she say? I felt chills down my spine as she started telling me the truth. "She told her everything you hid from her, Dr. Song." Her hands wrapped around her arms, and with her pointed, sharp glares, I could see my end. Not too long after, her eyes got moist. "Do you even know how painful it is for her? Ever since Li Shing's death, she has developed an intense hatred for that guy. Did you know how shattered she felt? You always end up hurting her, Xi Song." My world seemed to collapse. I couldn't even utter a word. She sighed heavily. "As her best friend, I don't want to see her suffer." Please stop hurting her. The least you could do for her is to let her go." Wiping her tears, she walked away. My knees weakened as I hit the ground, still processing. "Is it for real, Xingyue? We don't have any time left anymore." Wrapping my hands around my knees, I lowered my head and sobbed my heart out. The fear of losing her turned into reality. "Am I really going to lose you, Xingyue? Tell me you still love me, Xingyue. Hold me, please. I need you. Please don't go, Xingyue." Pressing my lips together, I shrieked. .............................................. Tang Xue's POV Holding the file in one hand, I knocked on the door. A sound came from inside as I opened the door and went inside. I approached him and put the file on the table. "Mr. Han, here's the plan you've asked for." Handing him the file, I continued to explain. "It's a three-day, two-night plan at Xingzhong Hills station. The greenery and fun activities will help the staff relax their minds and work efficiently." He kept turning pages, and I waited patiently for his response. Putting the file on the table, he glanced at me. "Your plan is so great, Ms. Tang. You prepared it in just one night?" Nodding my head, I could feel myself bouncing excitedly inside when I noticed his curled lips. "Nice job, Ms. Tang. You can go with the plan and book the rooms. Also, inform the staff." "I will let you know, Mr. Han, once I'm done." I was about to head back when he called my name, stopping me. Turning, I asked, "Anything else, Mr. Han?" Taking out a perfectly wrapped box, he placed it in front of me. "Our partner, Mr. Lee, gifted everyone a necklace from their new collection launch. You can take it." It would be a lie if I said I didn't choke on my breath at that time. Amazed, I said nothing and gazed at him, waiting for his explanation. "Oh! Oh!" Stuttering on his words, he stood up. "It's not like that. You've worked hard; take it as a reward. I'm a man; I can't wear such a necklace anyway." With a shaky smile plastered on my lips, I nodded and took the box. "Have a nice day, Mr. Han." I walked away without waiting for his greeting. As I closed the door, a sigh of relief escaped my lips. Putting a hand over my heart, I squinted. "What's wrong with you, Tang Xue? Were you expecting him to ask you out? Of course, it was for working hard." Keeping my hand over my head, I screamed silently. "I was so dumb for making it awkward. What to do? I'm in a mess already." ...................................................... Xia Na's POV Caressing my hand, he glanced at me. His eyes showed me the concern and love he had for me. A part of me was broken to see him care so much. He gently cupped my cheek with his warm hand. "Were you busy, Xia Na? It's okay if you were. I just wanted to know if you're okay or not." Smiling at me, he added. "Have you eaten? Shall we go and grab something to eat?" The more he showed his caring side, the more discouraging it got for me. How would I break your heart, Ling Xiao, when you treat me like this? I wondered what reason I would give you for this. You brought nothing but the happiest moments into my life. Tell me, Ling Xiao, how to let you go. Pulling me closer, he placed another hand on my cheek. "Xia Na, is everything okay? You are not looking okay." Only I knew how badly I wanted to throw myself into your arms and cry my heart out. If only I could tell you without telling you and ask you for your comforting hug. I clenched my fist, breathed, and stepped back. Frowning, he put his hands back. I knew the next moment would be so heavy for us to carry. "Ling Xiao... Let's break up." He laughed, looked at me, and asked. "It is a prank, right, Xia Na?" "It is not. I think we're two different from each other." "Xia Na, you know it was never you and I. It was always us." "You're wrong, Ling Xiao. It was always you and I trying to be us. But we never could be the ones for each other." "You're kidding me. Did someone say something to you? My mom..." He grabbed my waist, pulling me closer to him. Our faces were right next to each other. His fiery breath hit my skin, sending shivers down my spine. "My mom came to you, right? She asked you for this. I'm sure. I can pursue my mom. Don't worry about this." Trying to push him back, I burst out as I yelled at him for the first time. "No one said anything. Grown-up, Ling Xiao. I don't want to continue anymore. That's it." His eyes were wide open, searching for truth in my eyes. He grabbed me tightly as a tear fell over my shoulder. "We- We are n-not breaking up." I tried my best to push him back and break his hold. But he tightened the grip. "We will not break up until you admit you don't love me anymore."
