Xi Song's POV Coming up in front was a flower-adorned Valley. It looked no less than heaven. I was lost in those sights. The chirping of the birds, waving roses, touched my heart. Like a silent wave, I found myself mixed in that flowing lake. Keeping a tiny excitement close to my chest, I walked in towards the parasite. Nevertheless, my feet stopped at their place when she called out my name. "Xi Song." Turning my head, I gazed at her and found tears falling from her eyes. It stunned me. Why was she crying? Quickly, I made my way to her and cupped her face, staring deep into her eyes. "Xingyue, what's up?" She low-key smiled, wiping her tears off. "Nothing. I just... I want to thank you, Xi Song. Ever since you came into my life, I never stopped smiling. I just felt lonely, thinking I didn't deserve anyone or anything. But you made me feel loved. You're the one who covers up whenever I face something. You protected me like a shield, and I don't know how to thank you for being with me." I could feel the emotions that she kept inside for a long time. Her tears, her words, the way she called me, everything proved her precious love for me. The way she threw herself into my arms, I sensed a calling. A calling of need. She wanted me. And so she let herself fall for me, to get rid of loneliness. I thought she was simply like an open book, which I could read anytime in any way. But I was mistaken. She had more than she showed. The cruelty she went through that crushed her heart into million pieces. All the time, she faked a smile and let my false trust join her pieces again. Her tear falling over my hand made me realise I couldn't do this to her. She deserves someone better. But why am I being selfish? I clearly would break her again if I emitted the truth. And the hug, her soul told me not to break this faith again. Tears built up in my numbed eyes. I wanted to free her, but I wanted to be by her side too. I thought I was clear about my thoughts now, but why was this confusion eating me again? My hands trembled to pull her close, to caress her back, to touch her lips again. I felt a lack of breath. "Xingyue..." *Flashback* Getting out of the cabin, I had come and sat in the comfiest place of the hospital. The sun's rays coming from the window fell over my dark heart. I searched for a path to help me get out of this matter. Lowering my head, I kept looking at the ground when Ling Xiao arrived and sat next to me, looking at the window. "Still thinking about that, huh?" "You know it keeps eating me." "Humph!" He chuckled, gaining my attention. "She's likeable, cute, pretty. She's got gorgeous eyes. Her personality is stunning, and her smile is worth millions. I didn't say her name, but she popped into your mind, didn't she?" His words brought me towards her and took me away. No doubt, no fear, the moments spent with her started rewinding in my mind. My eyes twinkled with her smile, and he caught me fearlessly. "I guess you got the answer already, Xi Song." Standing up, I stared at the sun dawning as my lips curved into a smile. "I- I love her, Ling Xiao. I really do." *Flashback ended* Recalling the same memories, I inflated my eyes. She was there as always, though I stepped back and didn't let my inner warmth touch her. But not anymore because I lost control over my feelings. Even if the world called me selfish, I would love to be, but only for her. I chose not to step back again and follow the path my intense fate made for my life. Unfolding my tentative arms, I embraced her. "Xingyue, thank you for telling me the meaning of love. Whether I'm selfish or just a psycho, I want to be with you each day, every moment." Reaching her forehead, I planted a kiss over, and my tear dropped down her cheek. We were standing there, pausing the time and just feeling the hug we shared. ............................................................. Xingyue's POV With arms in arms, we reached an impartial spot. The decoration seemed like some festival-type thing. The people were getting ready for some event. There were heart-shaped balloons in their hands. Some were holding signboards. I noticed a beautiful ring placed in the middle on a glowing cushion. Maybe, a marriage proposal? Eagerly, I called his name, but he wasn't there. "Xi Song?" I turned back in search of him. He was not in my sight, which made me anxious. Unexpectedly, I heard my name echoing. Somebody called me out. I moved again, but no one was there. "Xingyue..." My pupil extended when I found this voice was of Xi Song. "Do you remember the day you told me you wanted someone to write a song for you?" A flashback hit my mind, driving me back to those memories. *Flashback* It was when the poison case took place. Passing by his room, I heard a melodious tune. The harmony to fascinate anyone listening. It was like this. I melted down within its sweetness, and my heart was also being drawn towards it. I just wanted to mix in that syrup-like sound. Walking straight to his room, I followed the voice until he arrived. "What are you doing here?" Dumbfounded, I shifted my gaze to him and apologised. "Umm... I'm sorry. The melody was too sweet for me to overlook. Did you compose it?" In a mumbling voice, he answered. "Yep!" "That's so fascinating! I mean, it can win any heart. I hope that someday someone will write a song for me, I'll be the happiest on the earth." *Flashback ended* It was long ago. Still, he remembered my words. Was he paying attention from the start? When I asked for the divorce, he didn't want it. But he agreed to my happiness. Was this the case? Was I too greedy to overlap someone's feelings? I clenched my fist, standing there like a fool with a pale look. Out of the blue, ladies grabbed my arms and took me ahead. They pushed me towards the cushion, and I heard someone playing the guitar. The signboards lifted up with our wedding pictures on them. We looked so ‘done’ there, but it itself was a memory for me. I smiled like an idiot watching them. Then I heard his voice. He was singing for me. [Found the reason for my smile, the day I found you. Will you let me be the reason for your smile? I love the feeling and the butterflies I get when I see you smiling. I would love to smile for the rest of my life, too. Counting stars with you like I never did before. Getting old with you, hugging you, kissing you, loving you, is all I need.] His words were taking me back to all those loving memories. Our first meet: Glancing sideways, he strolled at us as my heartbeat hastily raised. Coming, his searing breath touched my skin, sending a shudder down to my spine. Tugging my hair back on my earlobe, he murmured. "Think carefully a little and take a taxi from outside." Leaning back, he placed some cash on the table as he laughed. "No need to return me. Accept it as I drive you back." At that time, I felt like slapping him right away. I found him so annoying. Then, the moment he comforted me: "What will you get by crying?" With an empty stare, I smiled in pain. "You will never understand me, Dr. Song." Glancing sideways, he uttered. "But crying for something you never did. What a stupid thing it is, Xingyue." Heading down to the ground, I answered. "I don't understand. Why is it always me? Whenever I tried to make everything good, I ended up making it worse." Covering my eyes, he led my head on his shoulder. "Cry it out and let's fight after it together, okay?" Our first kiss: With tiny curved lips, he replied. "Xingyue, I-" Cutting his words off, I pressed my lips against him as he remained there, shocked. Remembering the time we argued for the first time, I thought we were over, but he keeled over and came to me. He let me win the argument. Looking back, I found myself childish. But thanks to him, he carried me the way I was.
