Chapter 36 Her lost sister

Chapter 36 - Her lost sister
Tears filled in his red eyes while he ran towards Xingyue's room, leaving every work behind.
The moment took his breath away as he turned his head towards the bed and found Xing smiling.
There was a relief on his face as if he had come out of the mouth of death.
With his hitched breaths, he moved to her and mumbled her name.
"Xingyue?"
When she found Xi Song close to her, the moment of sadness disappeared somewhere. Meeting his moist eyes made her feel upset, knowing she almost gave him a heart attack.
"Xi Song... I..."
Before she could say anything further, Xi Song sat beside her and pulled her into his embrace.
A tear escaped his eyes, falling off on her back.
Frowned on her spot, she didn't expect to see him shedding tears. But when a close person was admitted to the hospital, no one could control their tears.
"Xingyue, how scared I was? I can't even imagine seeing you laying on this bed."
With her tiny hands, she rubbed his back and assured him. "Xi Song, I'm all okay. See?"
Breaking the hug, she showed her muscles. "I'm a strong lady. Nothing can happen to me."
He didn't want to break her confidence. Thus, he just kept on shaking his head silently.
Pausing, he shifted his gaze to Ling Xiao, who seemed lost staring at them.
"Ling Xiao, back to earth." Xi Song clasped his hands together in front of his eyes, which startled him.
"Huh?"
Seeing him so lost, Xing couldn't stop laughing.
With his eyebrows furrowed, he struck his arms. "Did you not get enough sleep? Still sleeping at work time?"
"I took Wen Reng's shift last night."
"Where was he?"
"Sick."
With his eyes shifted to Xing, he asked Ling Xiao again. "What's wrong with Xingyue?"
"Oh, yeah, here." He handed him Xing's report and explained. "Sister-in-law has weakness due to lack of sleep and eating less. If it continues, she can be in danger."
He turned the page and looked at Xing, and by his gesture, Ling Xiao understood his signal.
"Oh, yeah. I have many patients to attend to, Sister-in-law. I may leave now."
Showing her a thumbs-up, he left the room to give this couple a space.
As he read her reports, there was an obvious disappointment on Xi Song's face. He tried to calm his nerves but failed.
"Xingyue. You promised me you'll take care of yourself. And that's why I allowed you to go to the office at midnight."
Showing her those reports, he commented. "That's how you take care of yourself? Ended up in the hospital."
"I took care of myself, Xi Song. But I was busy with all those projects."
She lifted her head, meeting his eyes. "I'm sorry, Xi Song. It will not happen next time."
Upon hearing her confession, it left his mouth open. Looking through his pissed eyes, he scoffed. "HUH? Will there be a next time?"
"No way! Not at all. No next time."
Still, Xi Song was not satisfied with her words. It was now time to play her master card.
She held his hands, making him sit beside her.
With a cute pout on her lips, she cupped his face. "The project is over. As promised, I'll give time to us. You and I are now my priority."
"For real?"
"Hmm!" She excitedly pulled him into a hug as a smile appeared on his lips. "I forgive you then."
He could breathe a sigh of relief as Xingyue was right beside him.
With his hands, he gently caressed her head when his gaze fell on Han Shuo.
He just stood in one corner and stared at them.
...........................................
Leaving Xingyue in the room, he went to the garden, where he found Han Shuo sitting on the bench.
"Humph! Humph!" he cleared his throat and sat down beside Han Shuo.
And both of them just kept staring at the stars shining in the sky for a few moments.
Seeing this growing silence, Han Shuo decided to break it.
"So... Xingyue is your girlfriend?"
With his head lowered, he nodded. "Hmm! She is my wife."
Hearing this, his heart seemed troubled. His eyes popped out of the socket as he stood up with his mouth wide open. "WhAt? Since when?"
"We had an arranged marriage, but somehow, we fell for each other."
"And you think I'll believe in your words? What about Winter Bear? Did you forget her?"
The tension kept growing between them. Thus, Xi Song couldn't stop himself and spill the truth over.
"Han Shuo, Xingyue is Winter Bear's sister. When I found out about her, I couldn't stop grieving. You know how guilty I feel for not saving her."
"And... Don't tell me you married Xingyue only to compensate for her sister's loss?"
"I... I thought it's the best way to let out my guilt."
Han Shuo pressed his hand against his forehead, regretting. "Are you crazy, Xi Song? Do you know you're playing with her feelings?"
A tear escaped his eyes and rolled down to his cheeks. "I did what I felt was right, Han Shuo. I'm missing her a lot. Han Shuo, will she forgive me?"
Seeing Xi Song breaking down like this, Han Shuo also shed tears. He gripped his arm and pulled Xi Song into a hug. "She'll forgive you, Xi Song. But did you only marry Xingyue just to compensate? Are you sure you don't have feelings for Xingyue?"
"I... I only love Winter Bear. I want to let my guilt out. I don't want to harm Xingyue as well."
"Don't you think Xingyue deserves to be loved by someone? If you keep holding her, how can she find someone else?"
Xi Song himself was unaware of his feelings. Did he do all this just to compensate his winter bear? Or was his heart developed feelings for Xingyue?
What would happen if one-day Xingyue found the truth?
