My heart was beating fast.i knew she was coming in today,I had styled my new haircut carefully, I had made sure my outfit was ironed carefully,I had made sure that I smelled nice today.I had made sure to remind myself that no matter how incredibly georgeous Dahlia Cooper was,I was not going to flirt with her or even take a long look at her because I didn't deserve it.I knew it and if she knew what I had done she would think so it too.So when she entered my office today and came close to me,so close that I could smell her,touch her,my brain sort of scrambled. Her voice was soothing,it was the kind of sound that you wanted to hear again and again and not get tired.And she smelled like flowers,like beautiful freshly picked flowers. Something about her was just elegant and stupid as it was I realized in that moment that I had a crush on her.
I know it's not right,I know calling her in for files I didn't need just so I could see her face again was utterly stupid but I couldn't control myself,it had been a while since I had been interested in someone but the fact that the person my idiot brain chose to crush on was the one person I absolutely couldn't get was driving me crazy.I knew I had to stop that it made no sense ,that it would be cruel to try to start anything with her after everything I had done to her. So I decided as soon as she walked out that I was going to deal with my feelings.I mean at the end of the day
It was just a stupid crush,right?

After my attractive new boss called me in the other time, he didn't call me again until around after 5 when he walked out of his office carrying his things,I bowed my head as he walked by without acknowedging me and fell into the chair tired.I didn't think he liked me very much but I was determined to change that.It was just my first day.I smiled brightly and stretched.Then I went to lock his door and kept the key in my bag.I packed up and made my way out of the building as well.

I still had on my big smile when I got home, Jenny was in the living room watching something on her phone with her headphones on,I ran over to her and hug her.
"Hey"she said removing the headphones.
"How was your first day? Did anybody bully you?" She asked with such care in her voice that my heart melted.
"Awwn....you care about me?" I asked and she rolled her eyes making me laugh
"My first day was great Jen,and no nobody bullied I really loved it. There's Sasha the receptionist and Jessica the other secretary they were all so fun and accomdating.Except my boss though.Mr Micheal. I don't think he likes me very much" I said and she knitted her brows.
"Why wouldn't he like you? You're a peach" She replied and I giggled.
"I know right.but don't worry baby...I'll make him like me,I'll make everyone like me and then I'll earn enough money to send you to law school and then all our dream would come true" I said and she nodded then hug me.
"Hey Lia?" She started like she was going to say something,so I pulled her out of the hug and made her look at me.
"Yes baby?"
"It's.... nothing.I love you that's all" she replied and I hugged her again. Life was good.
I got back to my room to put myself in something casual,when I returned to the living room,Jason was there in front of the TV arguing with Jenny about a tvshow. I sat next to them and showed Jason my new ID card and he made a huge fuss about it like I knew he would he also talked about how he would make it into a portrait and hang it on our wall which I vehemently refused. We had dinner out as celebration and for the first time in a long time,I slept with a smile on my face.There was only one problem now Micheal Lancaster and I was determined to make him like me.Whatever it took.

It was Monday morning.It had been a week since I started and my boss hasn't spoken a word to me since my first day,I don't think he has even made eye contact. Every morning before entering his office he would take every file he needed and he wouldn't even reply my greetings. It was like he was actively trying to avoid me which frankly made no sense,so the other reason for him to act this way was probably because he felt like I wasn't good enough to work for him.It felt like he was looking down on me and I was already getting upset.
I entered the building again hoping that he would at least fucking talk to me today. I got to my desk and sat down,it was past 8 he usually arrived around 8:30,so he would probably be here soon,it wasn't up to 5 minutes when I heard his footsteps approaching, I smoothened my hair and got up as he walked up to the door I bowed my head.
"Morning mr Lancaster" I said silently waiting for a reply. Nothing .I sighed in frustration and opened the door and then he entered without saying a word as usual.
I laid my head on the table frustrated and then I heard the sound of heels,a woman was walking towards me.She was dressed so elegantly.she was wearing a black dress and her black hair was let down she had on a lot of jewelry and she was carrying two gift baskets with her. She was beautiful. She finally got to my table and gave me a bright smile.
"Good morning" I said returning her smile. She dropped one of the baskets on the table.
" You must be Dahlia right? The new secretary?" She asked and I nodded.
" I got you a fruit basket to welcome you.my name is Anna,it is such a pleasure to meet you" She said and stretched her hand forward. I shook it.
"Huhm ,thanks,are you a friend of me Lancaster's?"
" You could say that,is he in?
" Yes, but I would have to call to make sure he's not busy at the moment" I replied,took the landline and called him. He answered almost immediately.
" What is it?" The voice on the other side asked,I heard on to the phone tightly.It had been a while since I had heard his voice.
" Someone is here to see you,she says her name is Anna"
" Let her in" He replied then hung up.I turned to the still smiling woman.
"You can go"
" Thanks,and I have to say you are even more georgeous up close" She said and I knitted my brows in confusion.
" Thanks" I replied and she entered his office.
I knew she wasn't one of his clients. Which meant she was probably his girlfriend or something similar. I looked at the fruit basket and rolled my eyes. He probably talked to her a lot,he probably replied her greetings I mean why wouldn't he? She was just like him. I put my head back on the table.I really don't like rich people.

Anna walked into my office with a gift basket.I shifted what I was doing before to the side and smiled at her,she sat down.
"I see you've cut your hair" she said pointing to my hair
"I see you've dyed yours back" I replied and she giggled.
" I'm really sorry about the other day,I shouldn't have said what I said,it was stupid" She said apologetically and I shook my head.
" No, it's fine,I'm not upset at you" I replied giving her a reassuring smile.She dropped the gift basket on my table.
" A token" She said smiling.
"Thanks. Hey Dad wants you to come work at the firm"
" Oh wow,I am so honored by the invite but you know I can't right?"
"I understand but I will keep trying to convince you though" I said and she giggled then she reached for the landline.
" What do you want to do with that?" I asked
" Oh I just want tea. She can get it for me right?" She asked giving me one of her fake smiles.I didn't want that,I don't want to stress Dahlia but if I said that to Anna that would just bring up a whole new conversation.
" Sure" I replied nonchalantly and she took it and called Dahlia. A few minutes later,Dahlia entered with a tray that had two cups on it. She dropped them on the table and looked at me. I turned to face the other side.
" Do you want anything sir?" She asked
" No and take the other cup with you,I don't want tea" I replied trying to sound as authoritative as possible.She took the cup and started walking away.The cup slipped and shattered.
" Oh my God...I'm so sorry" Dahlia said quickly and got down to pick up the pieces of the cup that fell. I wanted to help her but I didn't and then she winced. I ran over to her and her hand was bleeding. I bent down and held the hand.
" Fuck, are you okay?" I asked and she stared at me silently,I snapped at her.
" I asked if you were okay!" She didn't reply and just glared back at me.
" Okay let's just chill, I know Mike keeps a first aid kit in his office so let's just chill okay?" Anna inputed snapping me out of my own head,I realized I was holding her hand and I quickly dropped it and got up,she got up as well.
" I can take care of myself" She said and walked out.I ran my hand through my hair
"Fuck"
"What was that about?" Anna asked, I sighed.
" I have no idea"I said and Anna nodded her head in a way that showed she was not convinced.
" Well whatever it is get it sorted and stop scaring the girl,before she gets upset and leaves on her own and then you can never feel better about your guilt.I'm going to leave". She finished and left. I sat down on the table frustrated.
