I was in the living room watching TV when Jenny finally arrived home. I was starting to get really worried,I scanned her face to see if she was sad or in any kind of discomfort,she was eating chocolate,I hit her shoulder lightly.
"Why are you back so late?" I asked upset
"Chill,I was doing an assignment, that's why" She replied
"Why didn't you tell me? I was so worried"
" I didn't know that I was going to be late,I'm sorry" She said giving a suspiciously cheeky smile. I squinted my eyes.
" Fine"I said and then she started walking to her room.she topped for a minute and then turned to me.
"Oh your boss by the way...great guy,you should go out with him" She said and I frowned.
" What are you talking about? You literally don't know the guy" I retorted
" Don't I though?"She asked grinning
"Wait a minute.... don't tell me you met him"I asked
" I'm not crazy,okay? He met me."
"What?" I asked asked widened in shock
"He came over to school today and asked how he could be of help,then he let me in his car and helped me with my homework" She replied smiling
"What did I tell you about strangers? Why would you relate so much with someone you literally just met let alone enter his car?"I asked anger boiling in my stomach
"He's your boss isn't he? And you brought him to school the other day so I figured it was okay"She replied nonchalantly
"No,Jen it's absolutely not okay, it's extremely disrespectful and I will make sure that I talk some serious sense into him"
"You're not even going to ask why he did it?" She asked still maintaining that cocky smile
"Why else? He's an annoying know-it-all"
"He said he liked you,said you were the most incredible woman on the planet" She replied and I widened my eyes in shock
"What?" I asked previous anger completely leaving my mind
"He said what?" I asked again
"He said he liked you dummy, that's why he's doing all that and spending all that money,so maybe talk to him about that before going full Godzilla" She said and walked away.
I sat down on the chair trying to think for a minute,there was no way that Micheal Lancaster,my boss, said that I was "the most incredible woman on the planet" It made no sense why would he like me? His type was Anna,I paced around the living room all day thinking about it,I contemplated calling him but then I decided to wait till the next day to confront him. I was so confused. On one hand,he completely neglected my previous warning and got involved in my family,but then on the other hand he apparently called me "The most incredible woman on the planet" Everytime I imagined tall, attractive, charming Micheal being interested in me,it just made my mind explode,he had never acted like he was interested in me before.so this made absolutely no sense. And if he does like me,what does that mean? Does that mean he'll try to pursue a relationship with me? I knew I didn't like him,he made me blush and all,but I didn't think I had feelings for him. I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about it.i didn't know what to think so I decided to not listen to anything Jen said and confront him myself.

I got to work the next day way earlier than I usually did and waited for him patiently,when he finally arrived, My heart started beating rapidly.i walked closer to him.
"Morning..."He started smiling
"We should talk" I interrupted and he knitted his brows I'm confusion.
"Okay" He replied and I entered his office and entered.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked folding his arms,there was no way this man likes me. I tried to maintain a steady facial expression,I needed to show that I was upset
"You tell me,my sister says you came to ambush her at school yesterday?' I asked and he squeezed his face.
"I don't think ambush is the right word,I just wanted to say hi to her after the other day" He replied and I sighed.
"I told you to not get involved, didn't I?" I asked and he nodded and walked closer to me.
"We also agreed that we were already friends now, right? And friends help each other,I also didn't spend any money on her,I swear....apart from the chocolate...I didn't think it would be a big deal,I...."
"Why did you do it?" I interrupted again and this time he stared at me for a while before replying.
"I told you already, friends help each other"
"No not that,before we became friends, everything you have done since we met,why are you like this with me,sometimes you talk,sometimes you don't,sometimes you say hi to me and sometimes you don't and then you randomly invite me to your place on Sunday and treat me like some friend and then completely disrespect my wishes the next day,what is wrong with you?" I asked I didn't realize I was breathing heavily,he stared at me for a while and then sighed. Then he ran his hand through his hair .
"I....."
" Do you have feelings for me? My sister says you have feelings for me" I asked, hands sweating,my heart had started beating even louder,I just hoped he couldn't hear,I don't know why but for some reason I want him to say yes. I want Micheal Lancaster to like me. His eyes widened at the question and then put in face in his palm for almost a minute,then he walked closer and placed his hands on my shoulder, head facing the ground.
"I like......" He started "Fuck....I just... don't like seeing injustice" He replied quietly and my rapidly beating heart slowed.
"The other day, seeing your sister like that made me feel bad,and I felt that she deserved more than that,I just wanted to help her,I said that I liked you so she wouldn't find me suspicious,I didn't mean for you to get upset. I'm so fucking sorry" He finished head still facing the ground. We stood quietly like that for almost five minutes. Stupid stupid stupid. Of course he didn't like me,I removed his hands from my shoulder and stepped back. He still wouldn't look at me.
"Okay,I understand your need for justice Michael,but please stay away from my family when next you feel the need to help,we do not need you,and don't go around messing with my sister either. The next time you approach anybody I care about I will resign,I don't care how much I'm getting paid. I will resign and that would be it" I finished bowed and walked out. When I got out,I ran immediately to the bathroom and washed my face,I didn't think that him saying he was being nice to me out of pity would hurt so much.
