I was already distressed because of Jenny and this asshole just had to butt in.Even after I told him to wait in the car,he still followed me anyways.What was I thinking? Why did I even let him follow me in the first place?This was probably fun for him.He was just a bored rich guy having fun.
" Huhm,why are you asking about the girl's parents?" Mrs Jones asked confused,I turned to Micheal hoping he would read my facial expression and shut the fuck up.
"It's nothing,just listen to me....
" I can have my people talk to her parents and this can all blow over and then the family will punish jenny properly at home" He replied smiling at Mrs jones
" Your people?" She asked confused and he brought out a business card from his jacket pocket and passed it to her,her eyes shot up and she looked back at him.
" Oh wow, Mr Lancaster,it is such an honor to have you here" She said quickly changing her demeanor from earlier.I just stared at their interaction.
" The honor is all mine,so back to what we were talking about,the girl's parents?" He asked.
" Oh we'll deal with it.We'll try to help you talk to them,as long as Jenny stays out of trouble from now on... everything will be fine.She's such a smart girl".Mrs Jones said obviously trying to butter him up. I rolled my eyes hard and got up.
" Thanks Mrs jones.we'll take our leave now"
" Of course.. and Jenny can return to class" She finished. I walked towards Jenny and held her hand then I dragged her out of the office.She was looking down at the floor.
" What the hell is wrong with you?!" I snapped as quietly as I could. She did not reply.
" Are you stupid? Violence? Really jen? I thought I raised you better than this! How could you do this to me?? Did you forget about law school? Don't you want to do something with your life? You want to drop out as well? How...." I stopped shouting when I saw tears fall from her eyes.I lifted her face up and she was full on crying. My heart dropped.I hugged her.
" Fuck,I'm so sorry,I just don't want you to have anything bad on your permanent record,I just want you to take care of yourself" I said quietly patting her hair.
" They called me a low life" she said quietly,I pulled her to look at me.
" What?" I asked shocked.
" The girls,they called me a low life.They called me poor...they've been looking down on me for a while now. I don't want to this this anymore" She replied full on sobbing now.I was starting to cry too.
" Hey, you're not a low life, okay? You're my sister. And don't you ever let anyone step down on you okay? I'm so sorry" I hugged her and just let her cry. We stood there in front of Mrs Jones office for about 5 minutes. And then she sniffed and looked up at me.
" Who the hell is that guy?" She asked, and I realized she was referring to who I forgot was even there. He was standing a few feets from us,staring at us with a blank expression on his face. I couldn't tell if it was sympathy or disgust.I wiped my tears off.
" My boss" I replied quietly still hugging her.
" He's kind of attractive" She whispered and I chuckled.
" He's an asshole" I replied looking at him. I pulled Jenny out of the hug and made her face me.
" Please....please let me know if you're going through something.And then we can work through I together.i'm your sister and I would always protect you" I said and she nodded.
" If anybody ever bullies you again just let me know okay? And I will come here and beat the shit out of them.You don't have to do anything" I said and she smiled.
"I love you,you know that?"
" I love you too dahly"She replied smiling.
" Are you feeling better? We can go straight home right now.You don't have to return to school" I said and she shook her head.
"I can take care of myself" She replied and I helped push a strand of hair behind her ear then pecked her.She looked back at Micheal.Then walked away. I watched her walk towards her class and then I started walking away too.I could hear Micheal's footsteps behind me even after I walked out of the school. I turned to him in anger.
" Can you stop? You've done your part now,you can leave" I snapped and he knitted his brows in confusion.
" You're upset? I helped you"
" Yeah,by throwing money in the air! I could have fixed it,okay? It was my family problem and you had no right to butt in.I guess I only have myself to blame for even asking you to come with. But anyways you've done your monthly charity work. Thank you so much. If that isn't enough I will write you a letter of appreciation first thing tomorrow." I replied sarcastically and turned to walk away. He held on to my hand.
"I'm sorry"He said slowly.His eyes soft and apologetic. I looked away.
"I literally don't even know with you,first you ignore me and now you won't let me go,do you pity me or something? You think i'm some damsel in distress that desperately needs your help? " I asked and he shook his head immediately.
" Of course not... it's just... you're my friend,and I wanted to help you.I don't think you're some damsel in distress. I think you're an intelligent young lady you just needs help sometimes...like everybody else" He finished. When did we become friends? I sighed.
" Fine.okay? I'll let this slide,just please don't throw your money in my face again" I replied and he smiled brightly.
" Okay. Let me drive you back to your house,you shouldn't go back to work anymore. You must be tired" He said and I immediately felt better. Why was he being so nice to me? I nodded and we headed towards his car. He opened the passenger seat and I sat down,then I explained the street to the restaurant instead since I needed to talk to jason and we started driving. I stole glances at him throughout.he was a weird man but a nice one too. I was really grateful about his help. I just didn't like the way he did it.
" Thank you." I said and he turned to look at me
" I meant thank you for your help.I haven't said that yet..at least not sincerely" I said and he smiled.Then returned to driving. I closed my eyes and tried not to think about Jenny and what she must have been going through all this time. Micheal switched on the radio and just then Sex,drugs,etc by beach weather started playing. I smiled,it was my favorite song. Micheal started singing along really quietly. I turned to him surprised.
" You know this song?"
" It's my favorite song" He replied smiling. I turned back to the window and started singing along as well. I was having so much fun that I didn't know when I got home. Jason was outside the restaurant talking to someone. When he saw me get out of the car he stared at me confused.
" Thanks for today." I said
" Sure,hey you know that guy?" He asked referring to Jason who was still staring at me.
" Oh yeah...he's a really close friend" I replied smiling and Micheal turned away.
" Cool." He muttered and drove away. I smiled.

I ran over to Jason who was still watching the car drive off.
" Who was that?" He asked suspiciously.
" My boss, it's a long story I'll explain properly" I replied tired and turned to leave.
" I don't know Lia,I have a really bad feeling about this guy" He said seriously. I rolled my eyes.
" Oh come on. You're only saying that cause he's rich okay? Stop discriminating against rich people you weirdo." I said jokingly and dragged him back to the restaurant.
