“We’re here”. My aunt said. It might not be visible to others but I can really see how fascinated my aunt was.
We’re standing at the gate while glancing at the big mansion. I noticed that Claudine is shivering.
“What happened to you? Why are you shivering?”, I asked her. She was looking at the mansion, I was startled when she looks at me. Her face shows that she is scared and she was pale.
“A-are you okay? Do you want to go home?”, I asked her since she does not look okay.
She looked away and said she’ll help me. I don’t know why she made that face, but I hope she’s okay.
When we entered the mansion, Claudine’s facial expression stayed the same. She really doesn’t look well; but she was fine before we came here.
My aunt asked if will I be fine being alone here. “Don’t worry about me auntie, I’ll be fine”. I said, assuring her that I'll be okay being alone.
When we started to unpack my belongings, Claudine acts more and more strange. She starts to whisper to herself unrecognizable words.
“LEAVE ME ALONE”, Claudine suddenly yelled. We rushed to her since she was at the kitchen.
‘What’s wrong?”, I asked. She never replied and just ran away. “I think you have to go home now, auntie. Please drop Claudine home too, I think she’s exhausted”. I told aunt Cherry.
“Will you be okay here?”, she asked. She looks really worried for me and she was raising her two eyebrows showing her worried look.
“For the last, I’m fine here. I’ll be fine”, I assured. I smiled to her so that she won't be worried anymore and.
She somewhat listened and went home. I was left alone there in that big mansion. The place was clean, I guess someone cleaned it while there was no one here. I was so exhausted so I sat down on the couch at the living room and closed my eyes, I never realized that I already fell asleep.
Claudine’s POV
“What happened back there?”, Aunt Cherry asked. Her other eyebrow were raised while she was asking me. Her eyes are still focused on the road.
I did not respond and stayed quiet. Because even if I’ll tell her what I saw, she won’t believe me. Back there, when we haven’t entered the building yet, I saw a lady. She wasn’t a normal lady. She was headless and she was holding her head. She was looking at us from the second-floor window. And on the first-floor kitchen, I saw a woman, she was wearing a red dress. It wasn’t really red; those were blood stains. She has a knife in her stomach, while blood was dripping from her. She was gritting her teeth and she was following me. Her eyes were full of anger and she looks really angry. I cannot help but be scared, her aura feels so heavy like she wants revenge.
“Will Pauline be okay there, Aunt Cherry?”, I asked. I look at aunt Cherry. She was still so focused on the road while she was driving, and then she smiles sweetly but her eyes look worried.
“I don’t even know, Claudine. I just hope she will”, she replied.
Aunt Cherry wasn’t sure too, how can I?
“Please be okay, Pauline”, I whispered to myself. That mansion of hers is scarier that it looks.
Pauline’s POV
I was awoken by a strange sound. I opened my eyes and look around. It was very dark and I realized that I fell asleep. I turn on the flashlight in my phone and I grabbed one of my bags and went upstairs where the bedrooms are. I roam the second-floor and look for a room that I would like. The place was sure huge and it’s exhausting if I’ll clean this by myself.
“I’ll call auntie tomorrow, and ask her if she knew someone who could help me clean this mansion”, I said to myself.
After minutes of roaming and walking around, I finally found a perfect bedroom for me. I immediately went inside and put my bag on the bed. I opened my bag and took clothes from it. I changed my clothes and then lay down on the bed. I took my phone and was kind of playing on it for a while. When I feel sleepy, I closed my eyes and went to sleep. The next day, I woke up like any other day. I did all my routine before going to school. After I've done all my routine, I went to school and hurried so I wont get late.
“How was your first day at the mansion?”, Claudine asked me when I arrived at school.
“It was fine. It was really big though; I don’t think I can clean it by myself. Want to help me?”, I asked.
Her eyes widened. I thought she’ll be excited and would be enlighten if I say that.
“S-sure”, she stuttered.
The way she said it, it feels like she hesitated. Knowing Claudine for too long, I knew that she had a hard time saying no to others, especially to me.
“But don’t worry, the house is still clean and I think it’ll take days for it to get messy”, I informed. “And I’m looking for a housemaid and I hope I could find sooner, so wish me luck”, I continued.
She nodded and sat on her chair. I also sat on my sit since the teacher arrived already. It was a normal day for me, but somehow, Claudine looks and acts strange. I can’t concentrate knowing that she was not on ease. So, when the bell rang, I immediately asked her what’s wrong.
“Are you really sure you’re going to live in that mansion?”, she asked.
“Yes, why?”, I asked back.
“It’s nothing”, she said.
“Oh, come on, tell me”, I begged.
“Even if I’ll tell you, you won’t believe me. So, it’s better if I’ll just shut up”, she said and walked away.
I don’t know what’s wrong with her, and I won’t stop until she will tell me. I chased her and stopped her from walking away.
“Okay, tell me. I promise I won’t laugh and I’ll believe you”, I said.
She looks at me with an angry look. “Okay, fine. But first, let’s go to the cafeteria because I’m starving”, she said. Today is Tuesday so I think I’ll call her for help this Saturday.
