The room was so dark and it was really shown in its appearance that it was not used by someone or no one occupied this room.
“Hello?”, I called out.
The woman didn’t turn around. She was just standing still in this dark room as if she was looking at something.
“How did you get here, ma’am?”
She didn’t turn around and I didn’t get any answer as well.
I was shaking but I still approached the woman. I turned on the flashlight of my phone to have a look of the woman better. I grabbed her shoulder just to make her turn around and so she did.
I screamed from the top of my lungs when I saw her face. It was wrinkly and her skin were pale . Her eyes are all black and she does not show any emotion at all. I fell down because my knees weakened when I saw her face. For a second I realized it was my aunt, or is it really my aunt? Maybe this thing right here was just an imposter.
The woman whistled a familiar tune. It was the same as what I have dreamed last night. I curled up like a ball and I covered my ears while shouting “STOP”.
The whistling had stopped so I looked up to see if she’s already gone. To my surprise, she was already right in front of my face.
With a demonic voice she said, “Didn’t I said I’ll take her soul”. She step back while laughing like a madman.
“Let her go!”, I yelled. “Who are you?”, I asked.
“Would you believe me if I tell you that I am your mother?”, she asked. “I believe your aunt already told you my name”
“Rosemarie?! Bu-but that’s impossible. You don’t look like that when I saw you before”
“I have a lot of faces, darling”
“What do you want?!”
“I want her soul, and I want you to see how I kill her”
“GO TO HELL!”, I screamed.
“I was just there a while ago”, she replied and laughed. She paused for a while. She looks like she’s thinking. “What about I’ll kill you as well?”, she continued.
When I heard that, I immediately get up and run as fast as I could. I went to my room and lock the door behind me. I look around to look for something I could use to protect myself. I saw a scissor at my table so I took it and I hid at my closet.
Not so long after, I heard my door opened despite the fact that I have locked it after coming in.
“Come out, come out wherever you are”, she said in a creepy way possible. “You can run but you can’t hide from me, Pauline”, she continued. There was silence in the room for a minute. I was trying so hard not to make a sound and I even covered my mouth so I won’t be heard breathing so loud.
The closet door slowly opened.
“THERE YOU ARE”, she said while smiling. “I’ve been looking for you”, she continued.
My eyes widened and inside my head I was saying “what should I do?”.
“Get away from me!”
“Make me”
I was about to run but I suddenly froze.
“Where do you think you’re going?”, she asked. “You’re not going anywhere, you’ll be giving me your soul as well as your aunt’s soul”
I want to talk back but I couldn’t move my mouth. All I could do that time was to wait for something to happen. I tried so hard to make a sound and to signal her that I want to speak or I want to say something.
“You wanna say something?”. She unfroze me so I can talk. “Speak”, she demanded.
“Let her go”, I commanded. “Take my soul instead”.
“Your soul?”, she laughed. “If you insist, darling”.
Rosemarie did not hesitate to take over Pauline’s body and leave Cherry’s body lying on the floor.
Cherry was unconscious for a while. When she woke up she realized that she wasn’t at her house anymore.
“I know this place”, she said. “Pauline? Are you here?”, Cherry shouted.
Cherry checked the whole place looking for Pauline, from the first floor’s every room up to the 2nd floor. The mansion was so big so she got exhausted and decided to sat down and relax at the living room for just a moment.
“I see, you’re awake now huh?”, a voice from upstairs was heard.
“P-Pauline?”, Cherry stuttered.
Cherry displayed a smile on her face. She heard footsteps walking towards downstairs. She look at the stairs and waited for Pauline’s silhouette to be seen by her own eyes. Pauline did went downstairs and she approached Cherry who was standing beside the couch.
As Pauline went nearer and nearer, that’s when Cherry realized that it wasn’t Pauline at all.
“What happened to you, Pauline?”, Cherry asked.
“Do you like her new look?”
She was talking about the eyes. Pauline’s eyes was all black with a white in the middle that looks like just a dot. Pauline’s face was quite terrifying to be honest.
“Who are you?!”, Cherry asked.
“This is I, Rosemarie”, she introduced. “I know you remembered me too well,”, she continued.
“YOU!”
“Why did you killed me, Cherry?”, Rosemarie asked.
“Don’t tell me you didn’t know”
“Would I ever ask if I do?”
“You deserve to die and rot in hell!”, Cherry yelled.
“I WILL KILL YOU!”, Rosemarie yelled before charging towards Cherry. Thankfully, Cherry dodged Rosemarie’s attack and she escaped. She went upstairs and she looked for something she could use to protect herself, but in a blink of an eye Rosemarie was already upstairs. She realized she couldn’t run away from her forever, so has to end this.
“What do you want?”, Cherry asked.
“I want you to suffer”, Rosemarie replied. “I want to take her with me as well”.
Rosemarie planned on jumping from the second floor but Cherry knew that she’ll do that so she begged Rosemarie to not do it.
“Take me instead”, Cherry begged.
“Taking you with me was my first plan, but Pauline insisted that I should take her instead of you”
“Just take me instead, I beg you”, Cherry cried. “Pauline has a better life waiting for her ahead. I still want her to live her life to the fullest, have a child and grow old with the one she loved. I have not experienced that so I want her to experience that”, Cherry continued. “I have already lived enough”.
“What a loving aunt you are”, Rosemarie laughed. “Love does make people dumb”.
With Cherry’s persuasion, Rosemarie eventually gave in. She decide to take Cherry’s soul with her. When she already have taken control of Cherry’s body, she jumped from the second floor and that’s how Cherry died. Meanwhile, Pauline was totally conscious when that happened. She was about to grab her aunt but it was too late beciase Cherry already jumped off the 2nd floor.
Pauline couldn’t help but cry. It took her a while to call 911 for help. And that’s the last time Pauline saw her aunt alive. Just like what they did to her parents, Cherry was cremated as well. Pauline throw her aunt’s ashes at the beach. That incident traumatized her so she never stepped a foot on that mansion ever again. She was gonna sell the mansion but no one dared to buy it. She had no choice but to demolished the mansion so no one could ever experience what she had experience during her stay at that mansion.
With the help of her parents’ inheritance and the money had left for her, she studied very hard and graduated college. She met a nice guy who eventually became her husband and they had 2 beautiful, loving daughters. Pauline is now a lawyer and a loving wife. She already experienced what her aunt want her to experience. Even though years had already passed, she will always remember the paranormal things that had happened to her life . She will never forget the mansion’s yore.
