CHAPTER 11
CELESTRIA POV
My attempts to calm the crying child took an unexpected turn when an accident led to a surprising kiss with the alpha. Before I could process what had happened, embarrassment and anger surged through me, and I instinctively slapped him across the face.
His cheek was still stinging, I couldn't believe what had just happened. Anger and surprise filled me as I looked at him, demanding an explanation. "What was that?!" I exclaimed, frustration in my voice. How dare he think he can get away with his foolish actions?
He rubbed his cheek, a mix of pain and confusion on his face. "I... I don't know. It just... happened," he stammered, failing to find the right words
As the child cried, I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Great job, he managed to upset me and the kid. In the midst of chaos, he found a way to make things even more complicated. Just great.
I turned away from him, unable to bear the sight of his bewildered face. The weight of my slap and the silence that followed hung heavily in the air. He deserved every bit of it for his thoughtless behavior.
As the child's cries continued to fill the room, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. My outburst had only made things worse. The poor child was suffering because of his incompetence, and now I had made matters even more complicated.
I took a deep breath, trying to regain my composure. I needed to focus on the child, to calm their cries and make up for the mess that he had caused. It wasn't fair for the child to suffer because of his idiocy.
Slowly, I approached the child and tried to soothe them. I whispered comforting words and gently rocked them in my arms, hoping to bring them some peace. But the guilt still gnawed at me.
As the child's cries gradually subsided, replaced by soft whimpers, I couldn't help but reflect on my actions. Yes, he deserved that slap, but maybe I could have handled it differently. Maybe I let my anger get the best of me.
I glanced back at him, still standing there with his hand on his cheek. There was a mix of pain and confusion in his eyes, and I couldn't help but feel a tinge of remorse. But he had brought it upon himself.
The mother of the crying child bursts into the scene. Great timing, really. She looks at me, confused and concerned, probably wondering why there's drama in the midst of chaos.
"What happened?" she asked, her voice filled with worry. I could see the confusion in her eyes as she noticed the tension in the room.
I give her a forced smile, trying to act like everything's fine. "Your precious bundle of joy is ready to roll," I say, my tone dripping with sarcasm. She takes the baby, clearly oblivious to the stormy atmosphere.
The mother took her baby, shooting a glance at Damien. "Well, I hope things settle down. Take care."
Once she left, I turned to him, arms crossed. "You've really outdone yourself this time. Kissing me and ruining my vibe. Real smooth."
He tried to speak, but I wasn't having it. "Save it. I need some space. Figure your stuff out or whatever." With that, I stormed out, leaving him to deal with the mess he'd created.
As I walked away, my mind was filled with a mix of emotions. Anger, disappointment, and a deep sense of betrayal stirred within me. How could he have been so thoughtless? How could he have ruined what was supposed to be a simple moment?
I needed time to cool down, to gather my thoughts and process what had just happened. The weight of the situation hung heavily on my shoulders, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of hurt and frustration.
As I tried to process the chaos, he walked in, Ugh, can you believe it? The Alpha actually had the audacity to try and apologize to me for that stupid accidental kiss. Like, seriously, doesn't he know I don't want to see him, and I'm not ready?
I watched as he approached me cautiously, a mix of nervousness and guilt painted across his face. I'll admit, seeing him squirm a little gave me a small sense of satisfaction.
He cleared his throat and started speaking, his voice filled with a hint of desperation. "Celestria, I... I wanted to say that I'm really sorry about what happened. It was a complete accident, and I never meant to disrespect you."
I crossed my arms and looked at him skeptically. "Accident, huh? Well, it was a pretty darn clumsy accident, if you ask me. Your lips conveniently landed on mine like it was some kind of magic trick."
He fidgeted with his hands, a sign that he was definitely feeling guilty. "I swear, Celestria, it wasn't intentional. It was a moment of confusion and misjudgment, and I deeply regret it."
I let out a deep sigh, trying to keep my cool. "Look, Alpha, you need to understand that actions have consequences. That little accident caused quite a stir, and it's going to take more than a half-hearted apology to make things right."
He nodded earnestly, his eyes filled with determination. "I get it, Celestria. I messed up, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to fix it. I want your forgiveness, and I'll do whatever you ask."
I raised an eyebrow, testing the waters to see just how far he was willing to go. "Well, for starters, you can publicly acknowledge that what happened was your mistake. No excuses, no downplaying it."
His face paled slightly, but he didn't hesitate. "I will make a public statement, taking full responsibility for my actions. I want everyone to know that it was my fault and not yours."
My frustration boiled over, and I couldn't contain my anger any longer. "Are you stupid?" I exclaimed, my voice filled with disbelief. "I don't want anyone else to know, and you want everyone to find out? I could slap you right now!"
His eyes widened, a mix of surprise and remorse evident in his expression. "I... I'm sorry," he stammered, his voice filled with genuine regret. "I didn't mean to upset you further. I just thought it was important to acknowledge my mistake."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. I realized that my anger was getting the best of me, and I needed to find a way to communicate my boundaries more effectively.
"I appreciate your willingness to take responsibility," I replied, my voice softer but still tinged with frustration. "But I want to keep this between us. I don't want others to know about it."
He nodded, a mix of understanding and remorse in his eyes. "I understand now. I'm sorry for suggesting something that made you uncomfortable. I will respect your wishes and keep it private."
I couldn't help but chuckle at his desperation. "How about this? You owe me a favor. Whenever I call upon you, you have to be at my beck and call without hesitation."
His eyes widened, but he quickly composed himself. "Consider it done, Celestria. I will be at your service, no matter what you need."
I looked at him, my gaze softening just a little. Maybe, deep down, he truly did regret what happened. "Alright, Alpha. If you're sincere about making amends, then I'll consider forgiving you. But let it be known, one misstep and it's all over."
He nodded, a sense of gratitude evident in his expression. "Thank you, Celestria. I won't let you down."
As he sat beside me, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. Maybe, just maybe, forgiveness was possible. But only time would tell if he would truly make things right, or if this was just another empty promise.
As he said, Damien approached me with a request that caught me off guard. "I want to announce to everyone tomorrow that you are my mate," he said, his voice filled with determination.
I blinked in surprise, my mind trying to process his words. The idea of such a public declaration made me feel uneasy. I needed time to adjust to our renewed connection and to rebuild the trust that had been shaken.
"Wait, hold on," I replied, my voice tinged with uncertainty. "I'm not sure if I'm ready for such a public announcement. Can we take things slowly?"
"Wait, hold on," I replied, my voice tinged with uncertainty. "I'm not sure if I'm ready for such a public announcement. Can we take things slowly?"
He looked at me, his expression a mix of disappointment and understanding. "I understand your hesitation," he said, his voice gentle. "But I want the world to know how much you mean to me. I want everyone to see that I'm committed to you."
"I appreciate your intentions," I replied, my voice firm yet gentle. "But I need more time. I need to feel secure in our relationship before making such a public declaration."
He nodded, a flicker of disappointment crossing his face. "I understand," he said, his voice laced with understanding. "I don't want to rush you. We'll take things at your pace."
His words touched something deep within me, stirring a sense of warmth and affection. Despite my reservations, I couldn't deny the sincerity in his eyes or the depth of his feelings.
Taking a deep breath, I met his gaze, a sense of resolve settling within me. "Okay," I said softly, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "Let's do it."
As he walked away, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. Maybe, just maybe, forgiveness was possible. But only time would tell if he would truly make things right, or if this was just another empty promise.Download Novelah App
