53: Chapter Fifty-Three

We left the Zach’s residence and went to our mansion to talk with dad. I was anxious on the whole ride. I feel like talking with dad would be tougher than dealing with the kidnappers.
Minutes later we arrived. I saw dad as soon as I entered the house.
“Dad—”
“I saw the broadcast, and you know my answer. Also, if you’re going to pay that ten million, make sure not to get it from the company.”
See? See what kind of man he is?! I wanted to shout, curse and call him names but I have to control my anger knowing that I’m asking him a favor.
“Dad, I know you don’t care about Aviana. You never cared about us, your own children, so why would you care for your granddaughter? I know—”
“You’re the one asking me a favor but you dare talk to me like that?!”
“Sir, please... we want to bring our daughter back,” Cameron pled.
“Then think of another way. It’s your responsibility as parents.” I lost it. I laughed as I glare at him.
“Responsibility as parents? Who are you to say that to us when you never knew or did that?! What did I expect from you? You can even sell us if it means saving your reputation.”
“Stephen! I’ll do deals with S&H as long as you get my granddaughter alive and safe,” Cameron’s dad said but my dad did not budge.
“It could be trap like what happened on the warehouse! What’s the use of those deals if I can die in there?!”
“How could you be so cold hearted?! There’s a child in danger! Most importantly, it’s your granddaughter!” Mom shouted angrily.
“Dad, Casterdale is watching us. If you don’t show up, won’t you turn out to be the villain for them? Your reputation will reach rock bottom if Aviana dies.” What Sylvester said changed the expression of dad.
“Syl is right dad, you will lose everything you’ve worked hard for if something happens to her,” Skyler adds.
“Nothing can change my mind. I can’t die right now, especially that my own father is sick. If something happens to me, how can I be so sure that you will take care of your grandfather? You hate him just like how you hate me.”
“Is hate even the right word? We despise you,” Sylvester said.
“Think of another plan.” I suddenly received a message and read it out loud.
“You have one hour. Savannah, leave the money at the nursery room at CDL Hospital. Your father has to go to Norths Hospital to pick your daughter. Don’t be late, you know the rules. Also, don’t bring any security team or police if you don’t want your daughter to be harmed.”
I heard multiple sighs as I finish reading the text. I looked at dad but he just shook his head as he speaks.
“I’m not going. Your daughter is not my responsibility.” He was about to walk away, but I kneeled and held his hand.
“Savannah! Stand up!” I heard my mom shouting. My brothers are also telling me to stand up but I did not listen. Kneeling down is something I never did but I will do it for the sake of my daughter.
“I-I know we were never in good terms.” I looked up to him with teary eyes. “But I beg you... I’m begging you, p-please save my daughter. P-please... get her back. I will do anything you say! I will do everything! Just please get my daughter back. I’m begging you.”
Suddenly, Cameron kneeled beside me. His father loudly shouted but he did not move.
“Sir, I’m begging you. Please save our daughter. I will pay you or do anything, just please save our daughter.”
“Cameron! You stand up this instant!” His dad tried to pull him up but he still did not move.
“Sir! Please, we need your help. We need our daughter back. I’ll compensate you with the best I can. Also, don’t worry because we’ll have the security team to spectate you from afar and make sure you’re safe.”
A moment of silence filled the whole room, until Stefano broke it.
“Save my niece. I never did anything against your will. I always did whatever you want. I never asked you for anything. Just this once, I’m asking you to save my niece. Save Aviana.”
I bowed my head in despair. The time is running and we’re only given one hour.
I heard a deep sighed before a voice speaking.
“Tell them to prepare the money... and the car.” I quickly lifted my head and smiled.
“Thank you—”
“Don’t thank me yet. Also, stand up you two. A Harris and a Zach kneeling isn’t ideal for a prestigious family like ours.”
He walked away and Cameron assisted me as we stand up. They started preparing the cash money and I also prepared to leave.
“Isn’t this the hospital where I gave birth to Sylvester?” Mom suddenly asked.
“It’s downtown, why did you give birth there?” Stefano confusingly asked.
“I was on business trip and I went there. It was an emergency labor so they brought be there. You, Savannah and Skyler are all born in CDL. But I heard it stopped operating only two years after I gave birth to Vester.”
“I’m always the outsider.”
“This is not the time for drama, Sylvester.”
“Then is that hospital abandoned now?!” Dad asked. “This is dangerous we should—”
“Stephen! Be the man of your words for once! Get your granddaughter out of there!” Mom loudly shouted.
We didn’t take long and we left. Dad and I went to our respective locations.
The hospital was busy and I had to make sure to hide my identity. I am alert as I take every step towards the nursery room. I went inside and there wasn’t any nurse, it’s only the newborn babies. I placed two black bags with the money on the floor and was about to leave but two men, dressing like a nurse and doctor, entered. One man pointed a gun on me and the other closed the blinds in the windows.
“We’ll let you leave after we count the money. Just to make sure that you are not toying with us.”
“W-Why would we do that when my daughter’s life is in danger?!”
“Good point, but madam has trust issues... especially to a Harris.” The other man started opening the bags and counting the money.
“Who is your boss—”
“Don’t ask anything... if you want to get out of here alive.”
“We’re at the hospital, I can get immediate medica—”
“Not when I shoot you on your head.” I flinched when he pointed the gun closer and harder at my head. Maybe that wasn’t appropriate to say in this situation. “Madam was right about you, you’re the most fearless and toughest Harris to exist.”
“What does she have—”
“I said do not ask!” He shouted as he presses the gun harder at my head. I’m seriously shaking and scared for my life.
“Sir, the money is complete,” said by the other man. They brought the bags and left the room. As soon as the door closes, I held on a table when I almost lost my balance.
Oh, gosh I thought I was going to die.
