It’s been a couple of weeks, and today is New Year’s Eve. We are busy preparing for our family’s celebration later at night. Both the Harris and the Zach are together in a private resort to welcome the New Year.
“Aw! Ouch! Sav help!” I turned to Vester and saw Via pulling his hair. I quickly grabbed my daughter from him and pulled her hand away. “Why does she keep on pulling my hair?! I’m not yet married but I think I’ll be bald even before I say I do!”
“Let me see your scalp.” I looked at his head and smirked as I thought to play a little prank. “Oh, my gosh. This is bad!”
“W-Why?! Am I going bald?!”
“There are bald spots. This is a major turn off to all women. Tsk, this is bad.”
“WHAT?! What should I do?!”
“Well, stay single for life, I guess?” I think he realized what I’m doing. He stood up straight and glared at me.
“You think that’s funny? If I get bald, you’ll have to compensate me on behalf of your daughter!”
“Only your hair will disappear, don’t stress too much!” Suddenly, mom shouted from afar, calling him. He immediately ran towards her to help her. “Why do you like your uncle’s hair so much, huh Via?” My little girl just laughed innocently, which also made me laugh.
 “Bitch!” I turned around and saw Irene walking towards me. “You turned around so you admit that you’re a bitch?”
“I never said I wasn’t. What are you doing here?”
“Oh, you didn’t know? Your father and father-in-law invited us.” I saw the rest of the Morgan’s enter the resort. “Hi, Via. Say bitch—”
“Hey! Don’t make my daughter’s first word bitch! Stay away from her. You’ll only bring her bad influence.”
“What?! I’m the best auntie of Via. Right, Aviana?”
“Who said that?” Cassandra asked as she approaches us. “You’re just a distant auntie. I’m the original and best auntie of Aviana.”
“You two, stop. She doesn’t need the best auntie when she has the best mom.” I flipped my hair and walked away with my daughter. I heard them scoff and call me but I just smirked.
“Hi, auntie! Looking stunning as ever!” I greeted Aunt Gianna as soon as I approach her. “Hi Uncle Jacob! It’s been a while.”
“Hi, Savannah! It’s indeed been a while. You look more mature but still stunning.” I smiled at uncle Jacob, aunt Gianna’s husband. “Is that your daughter already? Time really pass fast when raising a child, huh?”
“I know right. It was just like yesterday when Savannah can’t pee alone because she’s scared of ghost, now she’s got a daughter. How fast time flies indeed,” aunt Gianna jokingly said.
“So, you’ll celebrate the New Year with us?” I asked.
“Yeah, I think this is the first time your father personally invited us. Maybe, he also wants my dad to spend some time with his brother. How’s your grandfather’s condition lately?”
“He’s not getting any better. We can’t leave him unattended even for just a second because he’ll create a mess. His temper, I don’t even want to talk about it. I never got along with him before because of his personality, and it’s much more impossible now that he’s sick.”
“That’s just how life goes. We will eventually reach that phase too.”
We stopped chatting and went inside the resort. I approached my husband who’s talking with a bodyguard.
“Babe, can you take Via for a while? I just have to go to the bathroom.”
“Yeah, sure.” He grabbed Via from me, and I immediately left.
Actually, I have been feeling a little bit weird and sick for a week. This morning, I vomited and I don’t know if I ate something last night. However, I realized that this happened to me before. Also, my period is delayed for three days. So, I’m having a feeling I might be pregnant but I didn’t say anything to Cameron yet.
I went to the bathroom and took out a pregnancy test. As I was waiting for the results, I received a message and immediately read it.
‘Savannah, where are you?’ Sent by Stefano.
‘I’m at the bathroom. Why?’
‘You have a package from Kelsey.’
‘Kelsey? Who’s that?’
‘The address is from California. You don’t know? I’ll throw it away.’
‘Ah! I remember it now. I’ll get it later.’
Kelsey was my schoolmate, and an old friend, when I was studying in America. We lost contact after I went back to Casterdale. I tried finding her through the internet, but failed. I wonder why she suddenly sent me a package?
After I got the pregnancy results, I immediately went to find Stefano.
“Where’s the package?” I immediately asked when I saw him. He handed me a box which I immediately opened.
“Do you know who Kelsey is?”
“Yeah, she was my schoolmate and friend in America. We just lost contact when I went back here in Casterdale.”
I opened it, and inside is a book with a note on the top.
‘Hi, Savannah! It’s been a while! I actually have been thinking whether to contact you or not, for years, because I thought you might not remember me. Also, you’re a big celebrity in your place! What are the chances of you noticing me? But then, I saw this book. You let me borrow it once for a project, but then I never got a chance to give it back since you suddenly disappeared. Contact me when you received it! Congratulations on your wedding and baby!’
As I was scanning the pages, a paper fell on the ground. Stefano picked it up and handed it to me.
“Oh?” I noticed a familiar logo at the corner of the paper. “It’s the logo!”
“Syndicate?”
I opened the paper and read the letter.
“You won’t hear from me for a little while. I’ll see you again soon. Also, congratulations on surviving the bullet. I was the one who killed Jackson because he betrayed my trust. I told him not to hurt you, but he still did. I won’t let any of you die, until we finally meet. Send my regards to your father.”
“He kidnapped you but then doesn’t want you dead? What kind of criminal are they? Does that mean your friend, Kelsey, is involved?”
“Don’t assume. They keep doing weird stuffs just to send us a message. Let’s deal with this in another time. It’s a good day to let it get ruined.”
I placed the book and letter in my back, at the room, and went back in helping for the event later.
