55: Chapter Fifty-Five
“No! No! On the left!” “Use the sniper!” “I said left!” “No! Now we’re dead! It’s game over! We lost the game!” “How could the great-genius Stefano lose a simple game?!” “What simple?! It’s hard and also stupid! What kind of person would be alive even after five shots of bullet? Is that dude immortal?” “It’s a game character! It’s fictional! What kind of boring life did you live that you don’t even know how game logic works?!” I just shook my head and sighed as I listen to the childish fight of my brothers. It’s been three weeks and I’m now having the last fit for my wedding gown, and I don’t know why those boys came with me and mom for the fit check. They’re so noisy like a child. “I can’t believe the famous Harris brothers are this playful,” said by the gown designer who’s helping me dress-up. “Yeah, I’m like taking care of three toddlers at this point.” “You’re all set! Wow, the gown looks to pretty on you! Of course, you’re the great Savannah Harris after all.” “It’s good that the gown looks great on me, because if it’s not I’ll probably have to rush you to make another one.” The expression of the designer and her assistant changed which made laugh. “I wouldn’t say that I’m kidding, because I’m not. Of course, what kind of bride would walk down the aisle with a gown she doesn’t like, right? But I had my full trust on you, and thank you for exceeding my expectations.” Their faces glow and I could see a genuine smile. “Sis! Aren’t you done yet?! Because I’m so done with the nagging and rants of these two already! I want to get out of here!” Skyler shouted. Oh, gosh, I can’t escape them for once. Ever since we started to get along, they keep tagging along with me. I can’t with them anymore. “Hey!” I heard mom shout. “What’s going on with the three of you?! You are all noisy that I can hear you from the outside! You’re all behaving like a kid! I just left for a while to take a call and you’re all noisy!” “That’s the exact same thing I have in my mind, mom!” I shouted. “I’m coming out now! Don’t be too shock of my beauty! The gown is a masterpiece!” The curtains, that served as divider from the dressing room and the waiting room, opened. I saw my brothers sitting on the couch and my mom standing. They didn’t say anything and just stared at me. “W-Why? Is it not—” Suddenly, my brothers started clapping slowly. “Wow! You’re so pretty, why don’t you become a doctor?” I glared at Sylvester. “You call that a joke?” I sarcastically said. He faked a cough and sat up straight. “Right, that’s not funny. Anyway, you look fabulous! I mean it.” Mom walked towards me with tears in her eyes. She held my hands and as she speaks. “I can’t believe my daughter is getting married. It was just like yesterday that I used to chase you at the park because you run too much.” “Savannah already gave birth, and you still can’t believe that she’s getting married?” Mom turned to Stefano and, probably, glared at him. “Stop ruining the moment! I can only say and do this to Savannah! It’s not like I will be emotional when the three of you get married! I’ll probably cry, but not because I’m happy, but worried on how your brides can handle you!” “It’s just Stefano! Why do you—” “I worry about you the most Sylvester!” Mom turned back to me and smiled. “You look really pretty, my child. I’m so happy for you.” Mom pulled me for a hug and I hug her back. “Thank you, mom. Thank you for everything.” I looked at my brothers and reached out for them. Skyler pulled Vester and Stefano and hugged us. “Hugging isn’t really a thing—” “Shut up Stefano and just go with it for once.” Me, Vester and Skyler laughed after hearing mom say it to Stefano. After finishing the final fitting, we all left and went to have lunch at a restaurant. While I was eating and chatting with my brothers, I noticed mom starring at us instead of eating. “Mom? Why are you not eating? Don’t you like the food?” I asked. Mom shook her head and smiled at us. “No, I’m just enjoying the view.” “What view? It’s just the traffic in the highway,” Sylvester said which made mom chuckle. “I just can’t help but feel emotional. I realized... that the five of us never had this kind of meal. We only see each other on the mansion’s dinning table, and it’s always awkward and full of tension. I didn’t realize how much my kids grew. I can’t remember the time we last had this kind of meal where the four of you chat and laugh together.” I smiled as I also realize that. It’s really fascinating how we are enjoying ourselves today. “Why are you being so emotional today mom? Is that what they call menopause?” Oh, my gosh. He did not— wow. “Ah! Mom! Why did you hit me?!” Stefano yelled when mom suddenly smacked his arm. “What do you mean menopause?! Are you saying that I’m old?!” “Aren’t you not—ow! Mom, stop hitting me! I’m just being realistic. It’s not always about the age, sometimes it’s the hormonal—” “Look at this man trying to teach me science.” “You deserve those hits at this point,” I said as I shake my head. “Mom, I think he deserves a few more slaps.” “I guess so too. Who are you lecture me about science? I existed before those!” “Then that means you’re old old, like very old... since you existed way before science.” I feel like we all turned to Sylvester after he said that. I heard mom sighed and I just bowed my head trying to hide my laughter. “You are all good at ruining moments, aren’t you?” “I think we should go to lunch dates more often! There’s plenty of restaurants that we haven’t – or maybe only me – tried. Right mom?” Skyler said. “Right, we should bring Aviana with us and Cameron too!” I took a sip of juice as I listen to mom. “You know what? I really like Cassandra! She’s really nice and such a fine young lady. You should date her, Stefano.” And just like that, I almost ended up dying. I spit and chocked on the juice I was drinking. They immediately gave me a bunch tissue. “You really have to spit it that way?! In front of me?!” Stefano complained as he wipes his self with tissue paper. “Mom! Why would you say that!? Oh gosh, I nearly died,” I said as I catch my breath. “How could you tell Stefano to date Cassandra? She’s, my sister-in-law!” “Why?! There’s no law in Casterdale that forbids that! There are even twins marrying another set of twins. Besides, what’s wrong with you brother?” “Seriously mom? You’re asking me that? After what he said and did earlier? Seriously? Well, everything about him is wrong.” “H-He’s going to learn eventually! He’s smart and a lot of women is after him!” “Think about Cassandra! She doesn’t deserve him! She’s too good for him!” “Can you at least remember that I’m here? You both are arguing like I’m not existing.” “I can date her.” “NO!” I firmly said to Sylvester with a matching glare. Oh gosh, this is fun but a mess... and tiring, but I love it.
