Chapter 32: Joseph.

At this point, I no longer know what or where I am going, I am stranded in this thick woods, not knowing whether I should keep heading forward or backward, maybe I should be going left or maybe right, I am just confused and annoyed. I saw a rock nearby and went and sat there, bringing out the last snack in my pocket, this is it, the do and die, when I am done with this, then it's definitely over, nothing more to do or even eat.
I finished with my snack and made my way again, heading towards the direction I feel is right, far away from the vampires I just escaped from their sight with the help of the same sun that took my friends away. All I can hear are birds chirping, my foot stepping on the fallen leaves, nothing else. Those vampires will definitely come to hunt me tonight, they possibly know that I am far lost to find my way and that's a huge advantage for them, all the need is to smell my scent and it's over.
I stumbled upon a stone, losing my balance and falling down a small valley which was just at my side. Luckily, I didn't hit my head anywhere, would have been the worst thing that happens to me in here, passing out in the den of wild animals, never.
Standing up from the floor, the ray of the sun shining like that of late afternoon, my clock is ticking, those vampires are going to come for me and safety is what I should start looking for, despite knowing it was of no use, that doesn't mean that I am not going to try. I picked up a broken branch which width was just the size my hand can cover and hold firm, was something like four feet tall in length, would probably serve me better than nothing, I looked around in search of something hard, a rock or an ordinary stone can serve, let me at least try as much as I can to give it a sharp edge. Saw some distance from me, I went to pick it up, then saw something scary, something that took my breath away, throwing me off my feet to the floor.
They're dead, Mary and Jessica, they're dead. Two skeleton where lying dead some feets away from me, trills rush through my body knowing that by the look of their condition, they were roasted by the sun. How come did Michael and Daniel allowed this to happen, they probably know that the sun out here is dangerous to both Mary and Jessica, they definitely wanted them gone and now I am part of the puzzle, stepping in on what I never should, I am gone, will never make it out of here alive, since both of them are gone, best for me to give up the chase now, wait for the vampires to come, then give in to their attack.
I heard a crack, a loud one, signalling that someone or something was close, Oh shit, it's almost evening, the weather is getting dark, the sun gone and the cold whether gently taking over, no, I have to run now. Immediately I stood up, I saw another predator ready to strike, it was a jaguar. I picked up my branch weapon, pointing it towards it, as I began taking a step back, then noticed that behind me was the rock where I rested my back to sleep, there's no other escape route than getting pass the jaguar which was now gnarling its teeth at me, no, I can't make it out of here. I saw another two coming behind the one ready to strike, there are now three of them, a dead end for me, any sudden movement now means danger.
My branch was still pointing towards the predators as I began moving side by side with my back on the rock, they followed suit, gingerly coming towards me like they too were having fun with their dinner before them. Without any hesitation, one pounced on me as I swinged the branch, hitting it out with full force which also made me to lose balance and fall down the floor, the others attacked immediately but as I was getting ready to stand on my feet, someone caught the jaguar in the air by the tummy, flinging both of themselves down to the floor, the other turned its attention to what just happened at the other jaguar but was also caught off guard by a familiar figure. Jessica.
It was a tough fight because both of them looked so weak but managed to defeat the jaguars, drinking it's blood dry, both of them jumped to the other one which was fatally wounded by my swing and began devouring it too, I am happy to see them here, but I am scared because I don't know if I am safe right now with the way they look so hungry and having burns on their skins, caused by the sun.
