Chapter Twenty-Nine: Heart-Thumping Moment

After doing warm-up exercises, they finally started with the rehearsals. Nate and Celine are called onstage to practice their scenes together.
Once they were finished, Mr. Alford called Nate and Celine to give them his feedback.
"The way you deliver your lines is too strong, Celine. Remember, not too strong nor, not so soft. You should say your lines clearly and with conviction. Am I making any sense?"
"Yes, sir." I responded, while nodding in return.
"And Nate, I think that you were amazing. Your voice perfectly blends well with Celine. My advise to you two, is just to continue practicing. Both of you should practice, even on your free time." Director Alford suggested.
"Thank you for your one-on-one talk, sir." Nate thanked their Director.
As the both of them started going down the stage, Nate suddenly moved closer to me. Then, he whispered:
"Sir Alford is right. We should practice more, just the two if us." he informs Celine.
“That's a good idea.” I whispered back, trying not to sound too eager.
Nate then excused himself, then afterwards, he went back to their director to talk to him.
Celine bit her lip to suppress a smile.
“Is this a date? No,it’s simply musical play thing only. Oh, Celine... Stop thinking other things!" she secretly lectures herself.
After 15 minutes of break time, Director Alford called for their attention again.
"Alright, everyone! Resume with your rehearsals!" commanded the old man.
All of us started to get busy with the rehearsals
“Uh, where should we begin again?“ Celine suddenly asked, while flipping the script folder.
“Hmm… Turn your script to page 88. Let's start from there." Nate instructed.
Nate simply went on Celine's side, while busy looking for the line that they are supposed to practice on.
Celine secretly froze on my seat, while blushing. Just being beside Nate sends butterflies in her stomach.
But she got to admit, she likes what she's feeling right now. She pretended being just casual, but deep inside, her heart is thumping violently...
============================
Celine snaps out from her reverie when she heard Nate's voice again.
“Celine...” Nate suddenly whispers at her.
Celine glances at him, and she was startled because his face is too close to my face.
"Y-Yes?" she stammers, while getting nervous, in a good way.
“I need to tell you something. Can we talk later? Just the two of us?" Nate asks her.
"Sure." Celine nodded in agreement.
Nate's smile widens afterwards.
“Super! I’ll talk with you later, ok? “ he excitedly said, and puts his attention back to reading the script...
===============================
After a few hours.
Nate and Celine are both on the rooftop of Waldorf Auditorium, as they both agreed to meet there to talk about something.
"Thank you for meeting me up here, Celine." Nate started.
"Of course.What do you want to talk about, Nate?" Celine asked, trying to sound casual as possible, eventhough her heart is beating so fast.
Nate unconsciously bit his lip then afterwards, he spoke again.
"Don't laugh at me,okay?Please let me explain first." he said, still looking a bit hesitant.
Celine's brows met in a curious frown.
"Okay, I promise." she nodded in return.
"If you can still remember, Sir Alford told us we can privately practice if we have a chance... So, I was thinking that maybe we can actually go ahead with it?" Nate suggested.
"So... Do you want to have a one-on-one practice?" Celine inquired.
"Cool! How about starting later? Is that alright with you?" he readily suggested, while looking excited.
"That's a great idea." Celine agrees in an instant.
"Okay, here's what we're going to do... " Nate started telling Celine his plan for their one-on-one rehearsals.
While Celine is listening to Nate, her mind is flying elsewhere.
"Is there something to look forward to?" Celine excitedly asked to herself...
=============================
It was already 8:00 in the evening, and the rehearsals for the day is finally over.
“As always, good work for today, everyone!" Director Alford announces.
"Thank you, sir!" the cast said in unison.
Director Alford nodded in return.
“We still a have a long way to go, everyone! Please be careful not to get hurt until the Gala Night. Don’t do anything stupid, is that clear?“ the old man firmly stated.
"Yes, sir! We promise."
“Well, then. See you tomorrow. Same time and same place. And don’t be late.“ the old director told them again and again.
“See you tomorrow,Sir.“ Nate responded.
“Nate, you are almost the leader of this group. And you’re doing a good job. Keep it up.“ said the director, while tapping his shoulder.
"Thank you, sir. I will do my best." Nate replies with a smile.
When Director Alford is finally out of sight, the boys heaved a sigh of relief, as they can finally relax.
"Whew! Director Alford is like a dragon breathing down on our necks!" Nick suddenly said.
All of us chuckled at Nick's description of their director.
"Guys, the guard is going to lock down the Auditorium in a few minutes, so we better get going now." Justin informs them, while looking at his watch.
“Let’s go before we get locked up.“ Gale suggested.
All of us went to the Locker Room to get our stuff.
“I’ll go ahead the Girl’s Locker room.” Celine informs the boys.
“Do you want me to go with you?” Gale suggested, while looking concerned.
"Oh, it's alright. I'll just be quick and I'll be with you in a minute." Celine reassures then.
"Okay, we'll meet you at the gate." Gale said in return, then afterwards, he walks with Nick and Justin to go to the Boy's Locker Room.
================================
At the Boy's Locker Room.
“Hurry up!We still have 10 minutes before they lock the gates!” Gale informs everyone.
“By the way, has anyone seen Nate?” Nick suddenly asks.
“Come to think of it, I haven’t seen him since the director left.” Justin suddenly realized.
"I’ll try calling him.” Gale said, as he bought out his mobile phone and dialed Nate's number.
The others patiently waited. After a few seconds, Gale shook his head.
"He's not answering.” he said.
"Oh, I got a text message from Nate. He said that he needs to do something at home right away, so he went ahead of us." Nick informs everyone.
"Alright he got his own thing. Let's just wait for Celine." Gale stated.
"Sure thing." Nick and Justin nodded.
============================
Meanwhile, at the Girls' Locker Room.
Celine closed her locker as she finally got all of her stuff. She checks her backpack again just to make sure that nothing important has been left behind. When she finally made sure that everything is inside her bag, she started walking out from the Girls' Locker Room.
“Five minutes for me to run like crazy.” she said to herself after she checks the time. In five minutes, the Waldorf Auditorium will be closed for a night.
She was about to run when someone suddenly grabs her arm and pulled her inside a dark room. Her eyes widened in shock, while feeling terrified.
She tries to open her mouth to scream, but a big hand suddenly covers her mouth.
“Am I going to die?Am I going to be buried here as well?” her mind went into a frenzy, and she can't think straight anymore.
============================
At the same time, Gale, Nick and Justin are getting antsy while waiting at the gate.
“What’s taking her so long?” Nick anxiously asked, as he nervously paces back and forth.
"We should have waited for her inside the auditorium." added Justin.
"Maybe she still needs time to do something. But she really needs to come out or else she will be locked inside." Gale pronounced, while getting more and more worried for Celine.
The security guards suddenly walk towards the three of them.
"I'm sorry boys, but we need to close all the doors in 3 minutes.” the guard informed them again.
