Chapter Forty-Four: Michael's Own Lovestory

Fifty One Sweet
Dana looks around at the ancestral house of the family where her Maternal. Aunt lives, which is Aunt Maggie. This ancestral house was built during the Spanish era. The sliding window is made of capiz.. .The houses foundation is made of red bricks, and they have a grand staircase. She feels like she's being transported back to the past.
Dana smugly smiled at her strange thoughts.
This would be a perfect place for hopeless romantics. But for a realistic person like her, this place looks boring like hell.
"This might be an old house, but I can assure you that it's safe here and comfortable. You have a king-sized bed in your room." Aunt Maggie told her, as they are climbing up the grand staircase.
Dana just sighed in frustration.
"Yeah, whatever." she mumbled, while rolling her eyes heavenward.
This will be your room, Dana... This is also where your mom used to sleep." Aunt Maggie stated, as they enter a certain room.
Dana saw a King-sized bed which is a good thing for her. The dresser and the study table are still in a good condition. Everything in this room was maintained well, so she can't really complain.
At the corner of her eye, she noticed her late mother's picture frame on the bedside table. She bit her lip to stop herself from crying.
"I know you're still in pain because your mother already left us in this world. But you still have a father, and we're still here to guide you and support you, just like what we promised to your mother." Aunt Maggie gently told her.
"Thanks. By the way, can I take a walk outside, Auntie? I just need some fresh air." Dana suddenly asked for her Aunt's permission to excuse herself.
"Of course. Go right ahead." Aunt Maggie nodded in return.
Aunt Maggie watches Dana go, while feeling concerned about her niece...
==============================
Dana is walking at the muddy road of this very small. town. It rained so hard in the morning, and now her boots are all wet and dirty.
She feels like she's in the middle of nowhere, and all she can see are muddy fields, animals, trees and mountains...
There isn't even a single grocery store or convenience store in this area. This place is entirely different from the big, Metropolitan City, and she doesn't have any idea if she will survive living in this place or not!
She badly needed a smoke to help alleviate her stress. She grabbed a pack of cigarette from her pocket, but she groaned inwardly when she realized that she got no more cigarette sticks.
She decided to walk further, hoping that she will be able to see a very small store which sell cigarettes...
She had been walking for about half an hour when she  finally saw a house with a small store. She immediately went towards that house to buy a pack of cigarette.
"What will you buy, Miss?"
Dana screamed because of shock when a guy suddenly appeared inside the store.
Dana's eyes secretly surveyed the guy. He got a nose which has a high nose bridge. Even though he's a bit tanned, he still got the looks, and her tanned skin makes him even more manly...
"Why are you staring at me like that, Miss? Are you alright?" she suddenly heard his voice again.
"Oh, sorry." Dana casually apologized.
Meanwhile, Marcus surveyed the girl. from head to toe. She got this crazy hair color, which are a combination of purple, red and pink colors. She's also wearing a gothic-type of make up. And she's also. wearing fashionable boots at the middle of a muddy road!
"Are you from the big city?" Marcus can't help himself but to ask her a question.
"Yeah. How did you know?" the girl responded.
"Oh, just a hunch. Anyway, what are you going to buy?" Marcus decided to change the subject.
Fifty Two: Sweet
"A pack of cigarettes, please." Dana responded.
"A pack of cigarettes? You're too young to be smoking like a chimney!" Marcus suddenly blurted out.
"Whatever. Are you going to sell me cigarettes or not?" demanded Dana.
Sorry, Miss... We don't sell cigarettes especially to minors and beautiful girls like you." Marcus smilingly winks at the girl.
At the same time, Dana is fuming mad while looking at the weird guy who's grinning from ear to ear.
If only she could erase that stupid grin from his face!
"I feel sorry for you for being so old-fashioned. Smoking is a normal thing in the big city regardless of your age. Why can't you guys open your mind to new and modern things?" Dana started complaining.
"Again, we're not selling cigarettes to minors. Sorry but not sorry." Marcus enunciated, while looking determined.
"You're unbelievable!Fine, I'll just look for another store!" Dana retorted. Then, she started walking away from the store.Dana said annoyed. He started walking away from the store.
She was just walking for a few seconds when she suddenly stepped in a wrong way, and in the end, she twisted her left ankle!
Dana felt a severe pain in her left leg and she suddenly crouched at the middle of the muddy road.
"Are you okay, Miss?" the young man at the store hurriedly went towards her direction and checked her swollen left ankle...
"We need to do something about your foot. Come on, let me invite you to our house." Marcus suggested.
Dana wanted to protest, but her left ankle hurts like hell, and she really needs help. to lessen the pain.
She helplessly accepted the stranger's help as she doesn't have any other choice.
The chatty guy was gently escorting her as they make their way back to his house. There, they were greeted by his Aunt, and after he explained everything that happened, the middle-aged woman lets them in and she started preparing things to help alleviate the pain of her swollen ankles.
Dana doesn't know why, but she was touched by the warm gestures of these people, eventhough she's basically a stranger in this small town...
