Chapter Seventeen: Goodbye, Michele

"You're right. I shouldn't be wasting my time on you. And it's your lost , not mine. I can find a better man compared to you." Celeste haughtily stated.
At the same time, Clarissa wanted to give Celeste a big hug to comfort her. As a woman, she fully understand her pain, and she wants to support her in anyway she can.
"I have to go. I have better things to do. Goodbye, Michele and Clarissa." Celeste finally said her goodbye. Then afterwards, she turns her back on them, and started walking away without looking back.
As she continues to walk away, big tears started to stream down her cheeks. She doesn't want to glance back at Michele because she doesn't want to see her crying like a pathetic fool. She has to maintain her dignity as a woman.
And as soon as she steps inside her car, she finally lets herself cry out loud, pouring out all of her pain, frustration and heartbreak...
======================================
When Celeste was finally out of sight, Clarissa started to speak again.
"Michele, aren't you too harsh on Celeste?" she gently asked him.
"Yes, I was harsh, but I didn't have other choice. She might look like a vulnerable and spoiled rich woman, but she's more than that. She is a very strong person, mentally, emotionally and physical. I grew up with her and I know she can recover from this in no time." Michele reassures Clarissa.
"But you didn't have to ask her about the bombing incident." relayed Clarissa.
"Clarissa, you have to understand that both of our families are involved in the mafia world and we hear our parents talking about weapons, money and their so-called businesses, so we got used to it. And as we grow up, we openly talk about violence, illegal things and other topics that are really strange. It's perfectly normal for us to talk about incidents such as bombing and many other things." Michele explains the dynamics of a Mafia family.
"Well, I don't know what to say about it." Clarissa responded, while feeling confused.
"You don't have to understand the world that I grew up with. And don't dwell on it too much. Anyway, I am going to leave the Mafia group and start a legal, simple and normal life with you." Michele lovingly tells Clarissa.
"My world is not easy as you think it is, Michele. You grew up in a world where everyone crawls at your feet at one snap of a finger. In my world, you have to start from the scratch. You have to work your bone off for you to be able to survive. Do you think you'll be able to endure all the upcoming hardships?" asks Clarissa, as she did a reality check on Michele's future plan.
"I want to be able to live an honest life. It's much better than my life now. I'm been dreaming of living the life you have right now ever since I was old enough to think for myself." Michele related.
"You don't need to worry. I'm giving you my promise right now that I'm going to be with you in every step of the way, and we will do this together." Clarissa lovingly promised Michele.
"I can't wait to restart my life with you, darling." Michele, responded, as he stares at Clarissa with so much love.
===================================
Later that night.
Celeste is in her princess-like huge and expensive-looking room. She is currently drowning herself with a glass of high-class wine. She is drinking right now, hoping that she can make herself feel numb, so that she can forget about the pain that shes feeling right now.
She is also looking at photo album where it's full of pictures, mainly her and Michele's photos, ever since they were in diapers up until their adult years.
Celeste stares at a certain picture. She remembers that it was her 16th birthday, and Michele has been her escort. She wore a very beautiful and dream-like gown, she had a lavish party for a 16-year old girl. She was showered with expensive gifts, but she didn't care about all those things.
What really made her happy is the fact that she gets to spend her special day with her first love, Michele, and they danced the night away. It was a perfect night for her...
She continues to browse through her album, and she saw a photo of her and Michele during her College graduation. She finished her studies in Switzerland, and she was the happiest person in the world when Michele surprised her, attending her graduation. It really means a lot to her because the fact that he travelled from the United States, where he was studying to Switzerland just to show his support for her graduation, it really made her feel that he is inlove with her.
But unfortunately, Michele doesn't feel the same way just like her. It was just an unrequited love on her part.
Celeste finally closes the photo album after she finished looking at all of the photos. Fresh set of tears started to flow from her eyes, but she decided to let herself cry throughout the night. She promised herself that this is the very last time that she will cry for Michele Montserrat...
She wasn't aware that her door was a bit open, and someone is watching her outside, not making any move or noise...
==============================
As days quickly passes by, Clarissa tries her best to continue living her life, as she helps Michele get ready to adjust to the normal way of life and to be able to fit into the society.
That Monday morning, she went to work as usual, having a positive attitude that she will start the week in a good day, however, she had a shock of her life when saw a certain old man, who absolutely looks like the older version of Michele.
It was Michael Montserrat, and this is the third time that they're meeting each other.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Montserrat." Clarissa greeted him first, to show her respect towards Michele's father.
