Celeste smilingly glanced at the small paper bag that she's carrying. Inside the paper bag is the latest model of Patek Philippe watch and it's worth thousands of dollars. It's her present for her beloved father, who is celebrating his 60th birthday today.
And before his father's grand 60th birthday party begins, she wants to be the very first one to greet him and give him his special birthday gift...
She knocked at her father's home office door. A few seconds later, she heard his voice from the inside.
"Come in!"
Celeste went inside the room, while smiling. She immediately walked towards her father and gave her a big, bear hug.
"Happy Birthday, Daddy!" she happily greeted her father.
"Thank you so much, sweetheart. You look so beautiful, my dear daughter. I'm sure you'll be the center of attention at the party tonight." said Carlo Vitale, while looking at his one and only daughter with so much pride and joy.
"And you're dashing as ever, Daddy. That's why my stepmother fell inlove with you after all these years. Anyway, you'll be more handsome like a movie star back in the Golden Era once you wear my gift for you..." Celeste excitedly announced. She gave her gift to her father.
The old man's smile widened when he saw the Patek Philippe watch and he obviously likes it.
"Wow! This is the latest product of Patek Philippe! This is amazing! I finally have something new to add to my watch collection. Thank you so much, sweetheart."
Celeste took the watch from her father, and put it on his left wrist.
"You're already 60 years old and you're not getting any younger, Dad. You should take a holiday leave from the company and go on an European tour with Auntie Margaux. That has been your long-time dream, right?" Celeste suddenly relayed, as she also talks about her father's new partner in life. 
The old man lets out a deep sigh after he heard his daughter's remark.
"Well, you're right. It's been our dream eversince we got married. But I just can't easily leave the company. I have to work because we have many employees who relies on me."
"How about Mr. Mendoza? He's the Vice President, right? I'm sure he can handle the company and our employees well." Celeste suggested.
"You're right. But he has been always strict and he's not a flexible person. He can't deal with people from different walks of life. I always believe that we should also prioritize our employees because we wouldn't be this successful without them." her father seriously stated.
"I couldn't agree more, Dad. But who do you think can take over the management of the company?" Celeste asked curiously.
Her father looked at him seriously.
"I think it's time for you to know my plan, Celeste. I hope you can listen to me with an open mind."
Celeste curiously frowned at her father. She also feels a bit serious while looking at her father's serious face.
"Okay, Dad. I'm listening."
"I want someone to lead and manage our company who deeply cares about the employees, and gaining profit should only be the second priority... Your mother and I are expecting you to be running the company. You're a smart and sensible girl, but we don't think that you can handle it alone." the old man explained, in a serious manner.
"Well, the other employees in the company can help me until I can stand on my own, right?" Celeste replied.
"I'm actually thinking of someone who will stand by you... In a long term."
Celeste is at loss after she heard her father. He's been talking in circles and she doesn't understand he is trying to tell her.
"What do you mean, Dad?" she asked, in a confused manner.
"My dear, I want you to marry someone that I trust with all my heart." her father went straight to the point.
Celeste's eyes widened in shock after she heard her father's suggestion.
"Wait, did I hear it right? You wanted me to marry someone just to run out company?!" she asked in disbelief.
"Chele,dear... I won't choose someone I can't trust. I chose this person because I know he will protect, take care and love you in return." her father insisted.
"How do you even know if this person that you're talking about will be able to love me and protect me?" Celeste did a follow-up question. She knows her father well. Her father always have valid reasons before he can make a decision on everything and anything.
"I've only met him once, and it might be strange for me to say this, but I have a strong feeling that he is the right person for you and for the company. And besides, he is the son of my best friend back in the University. He financially helped me and supported me until I was able to stand on my own and became a successful entrepreneur. You know how your mother and I lived in poverty before we become part of the "La Famiglia, right?" the old man enunciated.
Celeste just nodded in response. Her parents told him over and over again on how they started from the bottom, until they reached the pinnacle of success. Her father also told her about one of his best friends back in College where he used to help him when it comes to his financial needs. They became best of friends throughout College, but they had to separate because his best friend had to migrate to America to be with his family.
Eventhough many decades have passed, their friendship became stronger.
"Can you give me more time to think about it, Dad?" Celeste asks her father, as she can't make a decision rightaway.
"Of course, sweetheart. But just remember this... Whatever your decision will be, your Mom and I will respect it." her father reassures her.
Celeste believes that her father always thinks about something hundreds of times before he can make his one final decision.
But the idea of marriage for convenience or arranged marriage isn't really her cup of tea...
