LIS: 38

CARTER AND CHESKA looked up at the options on how to get around Nami Island. "Biking or biking?" he asked, smiling.
“Or, we could just walk. It’s gonna be tiring pedaling on a bike all day.”
“How about we try the double bike? I’ll do all the pedaling,” he volunteered. "You don’t have to do anything but appreciate the scenery while taking pictures."
"Just like in Korean dramas?” she asked.
He took out a piece of paper from his pocket. “Just like the ones on your bucket list.”
Her eyes widened. "Are we really going to do the things I’ve written there?"
"Yes. Every single one of them. Let's get started," he said and lined up behind the sweet couple who were always hugging and giving each other kisses from time to time
"Go get a room," Cheska muttered as she cover her eyes, cringing at the sight of people displaying affection in public.
“This is Nami Island, arguably the most romantic place in Korea. Get used to it,” Carter said calmly. “You don’t have to be jealous. You got me. We already pretended to be lovers yesterday and even installed love locks on Namsan Tower. Just bear with me.”
Why was he making it look like she was forced to accept him because she had no other choice? Come on now. He’s the best choice she could ever have as a tour companion.
Cheska was in awe as they tour around Nami Island riding the double bike. It's autumn now, so the shade of the trees varies from yellow to reddish-brown. For someone like her who grew up in a country where there was no winter season, it's fun to watch these different shades of withering leaves.
"I thought autumn was sad and boring, but it turned out to be a colorful one." The wind blew and the leaves swayed against the breeze. Cheska giggled and held out her palm. "It's like raining with leaves."
"Autumn is my favorite season here in Korea. It’s fascinating to see the change of colors on the leaves. The weather is also getting colder as it prepares for winter. Nami Island is one of the best places for autumn. If you notice, there is no pole of electricity here on the island because they buried the electric lines in the ground to maintain the natural feel of the island."
Cheska squealed when she saw the row of mesquite trees with their yellow leaves. "This place seems very familiar to me."
"Maybe you've seen it before. Do you know that this is the location of Winter Sonata?”
"Yes. I’ve watched that," she said as she remembered the Korean drama.
"And they also have a scene with a double bike like this."
"And you feel like you’re Bae Yong Joon," she was referring to the lead male actor who played June.
"I'm more handsome than him."
"Oh, wow! Calm down, boy. You’re not there yet.” He really think he was more handsome than a showbiz actor. "Just do the bike pedaling there. I want to enjoy this moment, pretending that I’m Janice." Then she leaned her cheek against his back.
"I'll sing you the theme song of Winter Sonata to make you feel like you’re in that drama."
She leaned her head against his back. "The Tagalog version of the song? All right. Let’s hear it."
"Langit ka, lupa ako. Hanggang tanaw na lang ba tayo?"
His voice was deep. It was as if he was serenading her in that romantic place. "It's nice," she whispered as she savored the song and recalled the scenes that were shot in the area. He was singing for her under the row of yellow mesquite trees.
"Mahal kita, mahal mo ba ako? Hanggang pangarap na lang ba ito?"
Cheska's smile faded when instead of Park Bae Yong Joon, she was thinking of another. "Jodie? Cholo? Tristan?" she whispered the names of other Korean dramas that seemed more in line with what Carter was singing.
"Kaya kong gawin, ngunit di kayang sasabihin.” Carter belted out with his emotional singing. "Ang pag-ibig mo sana'y mapansin."
She slapped his shoulder. "Carter, it's not the theme song of Endless Love: Winter Sonata you're singing."
"What do you mean it's not? It’s my favorite. I watched that in Winter Sonata.”
“It's in Stairway to Heaven,” she clarified.
"Is it? Oh. Maybe it's because both dramas have the same female lead so I thought it's just one and the same. She’s my crush, by the way."
"The story is still different. What are you talking about?" she scolded him. She was already in the zone feeling the Winter Sonata ambiance of the Nami Island, and he had to ruin with the soundtrack.
He stopped the bike. "So, what should the song be?" he asked and looked back at her slightly.
