Scarlett knew that she couldn't afford to be swayed by his charms. She had a mission to complete, and she wouldn't let anything or anyone stand in her way. With a steely resolve, she stood tall and faced him head-on, determined to uncover the truth about her pack's massacre, no matter the cost. Her gaze was laced with bitterness and her fists were clenched tightly. She was growing increasingly frustrated with his insinuations and attempts to seduce her. "I have no interest in your idea of 'fun'," she spat out, her eyes flashing with anger. "I just want to leave." Her words were sharp and firm, conveying her determination to not let her guard down around him. His face darkened. "You're in no position to make demands, little traveler. You're in my palace, and you'll do as I say." Her hand tightened around the hilt of her dagger, ready to defend herself if necessary. "I won't be intimidated by you, Tobias." As Tobias took another step closer to her, his eyes flashed with anger. "You should be. I could crush you like a bug if I wanted to. But maybe... I won't." His eyes glinted with a dangerous intensity, his voice cold and calculated as he spoke to her. Scarlett felt a chill run down her spine, realizing the gravity of the situation she was in. His threatening tone and the way he advanced towards her made her feel powerless. "You should be afraid," he repeated, his words laced with a veiled threat. "I have the power to destroy you, and I won't hesitate to do so if you're guilty of anything." Scarlett stood her ground, her eyes locked with his as she felt a mix of fear and defiance. She could see the suspicion and anger in his eyes, and knew that she needed to find a way to prove her innocence and gain his trust. "I understand," she said calmly, trying to reason with him. "But trust me, I had nothing to do with intrusion. I’m not your enemy." Tobias considered her words for a moment, his eyes scanning her face as if searching for any sign of deceit. "Very well," he said. "But until I’m convinced of your innocence, you’ll remain here in my chamber. And if you try to escape or deceive me in any way, there will be harsh consequences." Scarlett felt a sense of resignation wash over her. She knew that she had to find a way to escape, but for now, she was trapped in the king's chamber, a prisoner in all but name. Tobias stood tall and firm, his eyes fixed on Scarlett with an unwavering stare. He could feel her frustration and anger, but he knew that he had to be resolute in his decision to keep her confined in his chamber. He couldn't take any chances with a potential intruder, especially one who had refused to explain her presence. "I know this may not be what you want to hear," Tobias said in a stern tone. "But until I’m certain of your intentions, I cannot let you leave. You must understand that I have a duty to protect my kingdom and its people, and that includes ensuring the safety of the palace and its secrets." Scarlett glared back at him, her fists clenched in frustration. She knew that she had to find a way to convince him of her true intentions. But for now, she was trapped, confined to his chamber with no way out. She felt her frustration growing. She knew she couldn't reveal her true intentions to Tobias, but she also couldn't let him keep her prisoner indefinitely. "I understand your position, Tobias," she replied, forcing herself to sound calm and composed. "But I assure you, I mean no harm to you or your kingdom." Tobias narrowed his eyes at her, studying her carefully. "You expect me to believe that? How did you even get past the guards and into my chambers?" Scarlett hesitated for a moment, trying to come up with a convincing lie. "I... I found a hidden passage. It was a stroke of luck, really." Tobias raised an eyebrow skeptically. "A hidden passage?" he repeated. "And you just happened to stumble upon it? That seems unlikely." Scarlett shifted uncomfortably under his gaze, realizing her excuse was weak. "It's the truth," she insisted. "I was just trying to find a way out of the palace." Tobias shook his head, unmoved. "I'm sorry, but I cannot take your word for it. Until I’m certain of your true intentions, you’ll remain here as my captive." Scarlett's heart sank at his words, knowing that he would never give in to her reasons. She would have to find another way to escape and continue her search for the truth about her pack's massacre.
