I got to the bar some minutes later. I looked for a better spot and parked my car properly, then I got down from the car and locked it. I looked around and noticed that the bar seemed a little bit filled outside and I hoped it wasn't like that on the inside. Maybe it should, perhaps it could keep me away from the noise for the meantime. I walked carefully and slowly into the bar and as I suspected, it was almost crowded. I searched for an empty chair, but it looked like I would be so unfortunate in getting bone tonight. That might mean that I will have to go back home, or maybe go find somewhere I will spend the night, because I am emotionally not ready to back into that house for any reason. I know it might sound so stupid, but then, I'd rather be stupid for a single night. Still looking around for a space I could sit down before these madness here subsides. I noticed three people occupying a complete table stand to leave, so I quickly walked over to the table, and sat down as soon as they left. I watched the little drama that was unfolding in the bar. With the look of things, I got to know that a man came around to buy drinks for everyone in the bar after winning some money from a gamble. "Stupid." I hissed silently while watching the scene infront of me. After a while, one of the waiters walked over to me and asked if I needed anything to drink. I had almost forgotten what I actually came here to do, to drink! "Oh yeah, yah, sure. What do you have here? I asked him. He handed the drink menu to me. "You can pick your choice here sir." He answered, smiling coolly. I glanced through the menu and picked a wine that caught my fancy. "Here, this, number eight." I said to him, pointing at the wine I chose. "The Chenet Divin Muscat white wine? He asked, to confirm my order. "Yes and I'll need two of that. I consider taking one back, yeah." "Okay sir, I will get your orders in a jiffy." He said calmly, then left. I was becoming a bit bored, as Eddy wasn't here to cheer me up. The thought of the recent family episode eating my heart up slowly that I felt and wished I could collapse atleast and maybe wake up to find out that it had all been a dream or something. The waiter returned some minutes later with the wine I ordered and a glass cup. He dropped everything on the table. "Thank you very much. So, uhm how much is my bill now? I asked him. "It's $200 sir." He replied. "Okay okay, I would pay with my card." I said to him, digging out my wallet from my pocket, I took out my card and handed it over to him. After processing my payment, he handed the card over to me and left. I popped the wine and poured myself a glass full, then I sat back to drink. By this time, the people in the bar had started dispersing. I guess the other man who was the center of attention had squandered all his loothes on costly drinks and whatever. Thesw gamblers, they never change, they are always the same. They have the same mindsets and ideology. Win money, spend it on drinks and girls. Some hardly take some of the money home for family upkeep. Some times, I think they actually forget for the moment that they have children or a family. They spend all their money in bars and bring nothing home for the wife to prepare something or maybe shop food items. Talking about wife? grrrh! I gnashed my teeth. After going through the test results, I have been silently insane for a little moment, not knowing what to think about but wishing I could get something enough to distract me entirely for the night. But, certainly not these streets ladies that disgusts me. Right now, I really don't know what to believe. The DNA test results that shows obviously that the kids aren't mine, or the mother of the children who claims not to have cheated or seen any other man since we both married. I don't want to believe that it's misfortune that have caught up with me. But for the meantime, I just want to get drunk and forget what happened earlier, till I get sober again. I had finished two full glasses of wine and was pouring myself a third one when someone walked up to me. It was a lady, well dressed and she looked pretty. I looked away and continued pouring myself a drink till it got to the level I wanted. I corked the wine and placed it back on the table. "Hello." She said, smiling broadly at me. I wasn't ready to start up a conversation with a total stranger and a lady for a start, but if this stranger could keep me company for the meantime while I am here, I guess I wouldn't want to bother myself again, right. "Hi." I said calmly to her. "Can I be of any help to you? I asked her. "Uhm, sorry to bother you, but I just want to find out if these seats were taken? She asked, staring at the other empty chairs. "Well, they aren't for the meantime." I answered. "Okay great." She replied, still maintaining those smiles. "Please, would you mind if I join you? You don't seem to be with someone, or are you? She asked again. "Yeah, you are right, I'm alone. The seat is all yours, you can have it." I said, while taking up my glass and gulping some of it's contents." "Oh okay." She answered. She adjusted the chair and sat down comfortably. We didn't speak for a while and I didn't really bother about that much. Something so important was eating me up and I doubt a conversation with a stranger would ease it up a little. The lady in question as I noticed, got out her phone from her bag and got glued to it. After a while, I saw her snap her finger and a waiter appeared to take her orders. She talked with the waiter for some time as she was having difficulty choosing a drink for herself. I didn't want to interfere, atleast, not in this matter, so I drank my wine calmly while observing. Finally, she was able to make a choice and the waiter left and returned some minutes later with her order. A red wine, which I could tell was not just an ordinary wine. This lady has some taste, I said to myself and I think I am a bit fascinated by her carriage. I didn't bother opening up to her or saying anything. I guess it was safer to admire from afar. The lady poured herself a glass and sipped it quietly, while still going through her phone. That got me curious though. These days, beautiful women hardly come to a bar like this alone. Even if they do, perhaps they have already set a date with someone. But the lady infront of me seemed a little different and I think I was becoming interested in knowing her. Still me, I just over looked the idea and went on with my drink, looking around and observing my environment. "Hey, are you okay? You seem disturbed or something. Am I keeping you uneasy or what? She asked, bringing back my attention to her. "Oh, what? What did you say? I asked, when I didn't get what she said previously. "I was just saying that you look uneasy or perhaps disturbed. I want to know if you are really comfortable with me here, maybe I could just find myself another table or something? "No no no, it's fine. I'm just." I stopped, looked away and turned back to her. "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me." I answered, trying to take a smile. "But then, is it that obvious? I asked, a little bit curious. "To me? Well yeah. I don't know about other people. But, it is to me." She replied. "Hmmm. Okay then. I wonder how you could see that when you have your eyes glued to your phone since your arrival." I added. "Maybe you are right on that, but that doesn't mean I don't know what's going on around me, atleast infront of me." "Nice." I complimented. "What is the problem with you? Why are you all like this? She asked. I looked at her for a moment, then smiled briefly. "It's nothing so serious. I'll get it sorted out soon. Thanks, for asking though." "mmm. Family issue I can see. You better do sort it out, or else it will eat you up." She replied. She took her glass and sipped. "How would you know that? I didn't say it was." "It's so obvious, written all over your face. It's usually married men that look like that. Again, the ring on your finger, says a whole lot." "You might be right." She was about saying something when her phone rang, so she excused herself to answer the call, while I pondered on her words, drinking from the glass.
