CHAPTER 12
Three more days passed and I was complacent that Constance would never come back again. At the same time, we joined Tary and Lavender again during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everything seemed okay.
"Just eat more so you can grow up fast, Magdalen." Tary smiled after he spoke and my daughter just smiled in response.
"Do you want us to have a baby, babe?" Lavender suddenly asked before she giggled.
I was just sad because she seemed to love Tary very much but the later didn't love her the way she did.
"Soon, babe." He smiled at his fiancée before he quietly resumed eating.
"Lavender, yohoo! We're here!" I heard a woman say.
"Omy! Wait. Manang Dore, please let them in. I didn't expect them to visit ah," Lavender said happily.
"W-wait. W-who are they?" I asked confused.
"They're Constance and ---"
"I'm with Constance, Lavender."
And at that point, I almost just wanted to be devoured by the earth. I couldn’t look back because I would definitely see what he looked like. My hands were cold; I just wanted to melt.
You're done, Yvo!
"Mom." I went back to reality when Magdalen spoke.
"Ah, eh, Magdalen and I will just go to our room."
I quickly stood up and held my daughter's right hand. We were about to take a few steps when Constance suddenly spoke and I stopped unexpectedly ...
"I know it's you. Don't try to run away again or else you'll live in jail forever." There was a hint of threat in his voice so I couldn't help but be scared. He could do what he said. He really could.
"Mom, come on." She tried to pull me away but I was unable to step forward.
"Go inside our room first, darling. I’ll come in later." I tried to sound just find even though I was already hurting inside.
Our hide and seek was over. He has already found us.
"Alright."
I sadly watched my daughter walk away with tears escaping from my eyes. I harshly covered my mouth with my palm so that they would not hear any noise, so that my child would not hear any sob. It's a good thing he didn't look back.
"You stole his child," the woman who’s with Constance's said.
My cheeks immediately warmed up because of what I heard, so I immediately wiped away my tears. I forcefully rubbed my cheek. I composed myself as soon as possible. I just couldn't let her threatened me.
She didn’t know anything!
I bravely faced them. "I'm not a thief. And if you can, lower your voice because my daughter might hear you."
"Pwe! What do you think you are? A great mother? Should we thank you? Wow ha!"
"Wait, huh. Why are you so talkative? Are you the mother? Who are you, huh? Ah, you're the fiancée. I heard your name last time during the party, so don't be surprised. You're the fiancée but you're not the mother! "
"Stop you two! I'll get my daughter!" Constance said. He was seriously looking at me and his gaze was full of anger. I couldn’t blame him because we’re talking about his child.
"You can't take her from me!" I said. "I won't give her to you."
Tary and Lavender were watching quietly, while Constance and Meyra were unable to sit down because they just kept arguing with me. I already looked stupid because I was acting so brave but I didn’t care anymore. All I knew was that I was fighting for my right to my child. I didn’t want to lose her.
"You talk like a fool, aren't you? From the beginning you knew you were nothing, but here you are causing this scene," Constance said without any emotion.
"Oh, wait. Maybe you want me to slap you with the truth, girl?" Meyra even raised an eyebrow at me. If my daughter would be with her, then Magdalen would be miserable.
"Leave her to me, Constance. Please," I said.
"We'll get her and that's final. She deserves better."
"But she won't be happy with you!" I was against what he wanted to happen because I doubted the attitude of her fiancée. I couldn’t let Magdalen be with her.
"And she'll be happy with you? Who are you to say that?" Meyra didn't really want to keep quiet, she's too talkative.
"You’ll give her to me or you’ll embrace the life in jail? You'll give her or we'll tell her the truth? You'll give her or you'll not be able to see her again? Now, choose."
I was not able to say anything for a moment. What would I choose? But no matter what I would choose, I was still the loser. They would still get Magdalen. I once failed because of my relationship with Tary, would I still fail as a mother to Magdalen? I just wanted to have a quiet life with her. Was that hard to give?
"See, it's really hard when you’re just an extra. Tsk. You have nothing against the real parent," Meyra said.
I gave Meyra a sharp look. It's good that Lavender wasn't completely like her.
"Shut up if you don't want me to sew your mouth close!"
"We're wasting time, honey. Take your daughter and let's go. Sorry for the drama, Lavender and Tary. We didn't mean to let you witness this pointless show."
"Actually, I enjoyed the show," Lavender said before she sarcastically applauded. Tary, on the other hand, silently stared at me. He probably didn’t know how he would react. Well, he didn't have to react. He didn't have to do anything.
"We'll get her later. Don't bother to prepare her things because she has nothing else to bring except the clothes she's wearing right now. And by the way, thanks for Lavender. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't know that my daughter is here."
"What is he saying, Lavender?" I asked her out loud.
"I didn't mean to!" she replied.
"How come you didn't mean to?" I really wanted to strangle her but I couldn't do it.
"Because I took a selfie and I posted it on my social media accounts. You were there in the picture so Constance saw you. I didn't really mean it."
"You're not careful, Lavender. Look what you did. Now, they're going to take Magdalen from me. My daughter is going to be separated from me. Do you know how painful that is for me?!"
"Wait! Why are you blaming me?! Why is it all my fault?! Why don't you just accept that they're going to take her?! Why don't you just leave her to her father?!" Lavender also raised her voice, a sign that she was also angry.
"Don't be surprised, Lavender. In today's world, who's at fault has the attitude to cause a fight. Just like that woman who has the courage to blame you while she's the one who stole someone’s child."
"I didn't stole his child!"
"You're a thief!" Meyra continued to accuse me.
"You, what do you know?! You talk like you know everything. You act like you know everything." If I could just slap her, I would probably slap her ten times. But I didn't want to be violent.
"Well, I just know that you're not the real mother. I just know that you’re fooling yourself. I just know that you’re thinking like you've given birth already. What else do you want to know from what I know? HAHAHA!"
"You’re an assh*le!" I rushed to her and pulled her hair.
"Ouch, my hair. L-leave my hair alone, you b*tch!"
But I didn't stop, I just kept on pulling her hair until Constance and Tary calmed us down. Lavender did not intervene even though her friend was already asking for a back-up. Maybe she just didn't want to get into our trouble.
"You're a war freak, Yvo. You just proved that I shouldn't entrust my daughter to you," Constance said weakly but with disgust. "I won't allow you to raise my child. If you were able to fool Ivy, well, not me. You have no rights to Vyvyan. She's not your child."
"But I love my friend's child. She entrusted her to me! She said I should take care of Magdalen!"
My tears could no longer stop from escaping from my eyes. Ivy entrusted their child to me before she passed away.
"Yes, Magdalen is not my daughter and it's that piece of the story that I couldn't tell people before," I confessed.
"See, you’re just an extra!" Meyra teased me but I didn't mind her.
"My best friend is the real mother of Magdalen or Vyvyan Artiles. She told me that Constance left her and abandoned her. A few months after she gave birth, she was hospitalized due to her diabetes. At first it was okay because I could still talk to her, but what I didn't understand then was why she kept on telling me about her son. She said I would take care of her son when she was no longer in this world. She said she loved her daughter very much. We both didn't have parents anymore, so she entrusted her child to me. She said it would be better for me to take care of her child than her relatives with bad habits. I told her not to think that way because she would live longer with her little angel. But one day, she suddenly had a mild stroke and relapse. She also had blood complications. Then, I was shocked by the news that she had passed away. The lack of money was one of reasons why there was a low possibility for Ivy to survive, if I only had enough money that time. I felt sorry for her because there was nothing I could do to help her, so I promised her that I would never leave her princess no matter what. I swore that I would treat her as my real child. I hope you all understand what I am fighting for here. I love my friend's child. I consider Magdalen as my real child. Real child. "
"I didn't want to leave Ivy then. I was just afraid that my parents might take away my inheritance. I also didn't know she was pregnant. If I only knew ... I hope she's still alive right now," he said with low spirit.
"It's all too late, Constance." I couldn’t help but to sound sarcastic.
"It’s not too late, Yvo. I can still do something for my child. I asked someone to investigate so I found out that your name is Yvo Heneroso. I'm not surprised that you know me because Ivy is your friend. I'm amazed that you managed to hide my daughter and run away from us. But I'm sorry because I have to take her now. "
"Mom, it took you so long to go inside." She smiled at us just a few steps away from our seat.
"Darling–"
"My princess!" Constance sounded that he really missed his child before running to Magdalen and hugging her.
He spoke again while he was still embracing his daughter "I'll take you home with us."
Magdalen didn't hug him back. "Mom, who is he?" she asked in astonishment.
I was unable to answer her right away. I couldn't tell her the truth.
“He is your daddy and I am not your real mother,” I hopelessly thought. Download Novelah App
