CHAPTER 18
It was lunch time but I was on the 2nd floor instead of on the 4th floor. I was pretending that I was mad to the three eggs. They didn’t tell me that they were Constance brothers. They even asked for some viands in the past.
"Here's your order, ma'am."
"Thank you," I said before smiling.
"Enjoy your meal, ma'am."
I only ordered spaghetti because I had no appetite. It's sad to eat alone in the canteen.
[FLASHBACK]
"... By the way, I'm glad that you're friends with Tux Gallardo, Hots Lavega, and Iwo Aricheta."
"Madam, do you have a fever?"
"Fever? What do you mean?"
"It's because you smiled at me. It feels new to me," I said shyly.
"I'm just glad you became close to them. To tell you the truth, they are my sons."
[END OF FLASHBACK]
It’s really frustrating because they didn’t tell me yet. I still didn't know how they became Madam Bria's children because she didn't tell me. I would ask the three of them about it.
"Is the spaghetti delicious, miss?" I heard Tux say from behind me. I did not look back.
Did they look for me?
I didn't say a word until they sat in the empty chairs in front of my desk.
"You've been quiet since earlier, do you have a fever?" Hots asked worriedly.
"Do you want us to take you to the hospital?" Iwo was also worried and I felt that.
"Will I take you to the hospital after I beat you?" I thought.
"You don't have a fever," Tux seriously said after touching my forehead. He didn’t laugh.
"Oh, no! Dude, maybe–" Hots couldn't finish what he was going to say because Iwo suddenly spoke.
"Maybe she has a menstruation that’s why she's not in the mood right now. What should we do? Wait, I'll ask my girlfriend–"
"I don't have menstruation. I'll hit you three!"
"Finally you spoke. You worried us. We were looking for you earlier; we were from the 4th floor. We feel like you are avoiding us. Are you avoiding us?"
"Yeah, Hots."
"Huh? Why? What have we done?"
"Maybe you want to tell me something, Hots?"
"Ah, yes, there is. We have something to say," he sadly promised.
"Tell me," I said as I looked around at them.
"We have been promoted. We will no longer be cleaning comfort rooms. We will no longer be able to accompany you in cleaning there because we will also be moving. Our area will be on the 10th floor from Monday," Tux said. It felt different that he didn’t smile and laugh at all.
I couldn't be sad about what Tux said because I knew they're not real janitors.
"Besides, is there anything else?"
"Nothing more." Iwo forced a smile.
"Don't you really want me to know the truth?" I thought.
"Tux Gallardo."
Tux suddenly got up from his seat and looked at me, full of astonishment. "What? How did you know my name?"
"Hots Lavega."
Hots rubbed his forehead slightly. "H-how?"
"Last but not the least ... Iwo Aricheta."
"You already know us. We're sorry," Iwo said. "Please don't stay away from us, Yvo."
I didn’t say a word and just continued consuming the spaghetti that was on my plate.
It seemed that I couldn’t eat all the spaghetti that was on my plate.
"Forgive us. All right, I'll kneel here." There was no hint that Tux is joking when he said that.
I frowned at what he said. "Tsk. Just explain. Don't kneel. I'm just annoyed because you kept a secret from me. You already know almost everything about me. It's just unfair."
"Yvo, only Madam Bria and Constance know us here at the company. People here don't know us. Constance doesn't like us because we are mommy’s children from different men. My father is different, Hots’ father is different and Iwo's father is also different. Constance is mommy's first child, her son by her legal husband. It's a long story about how mommy gave birth to us who have different fathers, but the important thing now is that she is doing fine with her real husband. We are working as janitors to help the company, Constance doesn't want to accept our help unless we become janitors here. We just don't want anyone to know us so we didn't introduce ourselves to you. Constance really doesn't want others to know that we are his brothers. He is ashamed of the three of us." Tux's voice was not loud because the people inside the canteen might hear it.
I could not believe what he said. Constance didn't like them. That's why he called them 'three eggs'.
I felt great pity for the three of them. It’s not their fault that they became illegitimate children. But I also couldn't blame Constance because I didn't know how he felt.
"How long will you be janitors here?"
"We don't know either," Hots replied. "Forgive us, please. You're our only friend here and then we'll lose you. Unfair!"
"I don't want to forgive you," I seriously said and it made them sad.
It’s revenge time!
"You're hurting us big time," Tux said before sinking his face into the table. It’s really his thing.
"Give me fries, so I can forgive the three of you."
"Hey, guys, she said fries. I'll buy it–"
"I’ll buy, Tux."
"I’ll buy it, Hots!" Iwo said.
"Oh gosh, how about I buy on my own?" I teased them. They were confused and couldn't decide who would order. "You three can order there."
"Let's go!" Tux said to the two and they ran like children to the counter.
But I frowned when Iwo returned to my seat.
"Oh, why?" I asked.
"What flavor? Hehe."
"Barbecue flavor."
"Oh, new flavor?"
"I just want to try a new flavor. Go back there."
"Yes, madam."
"Okay, go back there," I said before he went back to the counter where the three eggs were waiting… I meant my three friends.
They also immediately returned with a lot of fries that if I were to be asked, we would definitely not able to consume.
"Why so many?"
"To be forgiven HAHA!" You already know who spoke.
"Okay, forgiven. Hey, but what are your real jobs? Did you finish school?"
"You’re a gossiper, Yvo. HAHAHA!"
"Hey, Tux, you’re so noisy. They’re looking at you oh," I said after I looked around.
"I was just carried away."
"I predicted your real jobs when I first saw you all," I said softly. "Just lower your voice when you talk."
"Really?" Iwo asked.
"Yeah. You don't look like janitors. You're probably an engineer. Tux is a resort owner, a businessman. Hots is an owner of a mall, also a businessman."
"Tux is actually a pilot. Hots is an accountant."
"Woah, great! You, Iwo?"
"I'm a chef," he proudly said before smiling.
"It's saddening. I don't think I've tasted your cooking yet. You asked for some viands, but you have a chef with you, guys."
"Can't I make it up?" said Iwo.
"That's a promise, ah? It's recorded so there’s no turning back."
"Eat the fries we ordered for you. The others are for our nephew so don't worry if you can’t eat all of those," Hots said happily.
"All right, but you'll tell a story while I'm eating ah."
"What story? We're going back to work so hurry up," Iwo said and still scratching his head.
Oh, okay. I was just really excited to get to know them even better.
CONSTANCE'S POV
"I'm tired, Constance." I never thought she would say that while we were at the rooftop of the mansion.
It’s true that I didn’t love Meyra but I never hurt her. I didn’t make her jealous of other women. I didn't do anything to hurt her feelings. Or if there was anything that hurt her feelings, that’s maybe because she didn’t feel that I love her. Mommy wanted me to marry her and I obeyed her in exchange for my search for Vyvyan. Mommy managed the company during the times I was looking for my little princess. Even though I already found Vyvyan, it never entered my mind to leave Meyra. I believe that she loves me. I don't want to hurt her even if I already like someone else.
It’s not my thing to hurt a woman just to be with another woman.
"What made you say that? Are you giving up on me?" I asked casually but I was worried deep inside.
"I thought I could be a mother to your daughter. Look, she's kind. Actually, I like her. But when I see her, I just remember how much you love Ivy. I was your best friend before I became your fiancée and I know how much you loved Ivy. I love you but I realized that it's time for me to have my genuine happiness. And that genuine happiness means letting you go. I couldn't afford to jail you in my arms. I want you to be genuinely happy too. "
She smiled after she spoke. A smile saying that she was brave and she did what could set her free. Not only did she set me free, she also set herself free.
"You deserve better and you know that. You know your worth," I thought.
"You're so brave and I'm so proud of you. Thank you for everything you've done for me, for my family." I tightly embraced her for the last time. Nothing intimate had happened to us when we were in a relationship. Marriage before s*x.
After a minute, I freed her from the tight hug. I felt how happy I was because of what she just did, she freed me.
