"What happened to him? You tried to kill him again, didn’t you?"
"Alec"
"what?”
“ She tried before."
Isabella didn't answer, she was carrying Evander on her back, taking him to her room.
"U hmm..Isabella, give him to me. He must be heavy."
She shook her head.
"I can handle it"
"give him to us. Why are you taking him to your room?"
"Because i want to."
She completed the flight of stairs and entered the room, closing it behind her.
"You seriously let her carry him? What if something happens?"
"She will take care of him, Alec. I'm sure you know that.”
Alec scoffed.
"But what do you think happened to Evander? He was bleeding from his head."
"He will heal. You know that."
Alec sighed.
"Let's go. I need to take care of the oldie's transport to new moon against the time he will regain consciousness."
Jake nodded and left with him, both visibly worried about their alpha.
She laid him on the bed, straightening his form on the bed. The blood on his head had made his hair Stick, but underneath that, he was healed, but still unconscious. She cleaned the wound, only a small scar remained and even that was fading away, slowly.
His shirt was stained with blood and she helped him remove it, changed him into another white shirt, combed his hair and laid him down on the bed. For the first time since she attacked him, his face was void of any sort of negative emotion. He looked peaceful, taking short, calm breaths.
His brows weren't furrowed, his lips weren't looking like he was going to cry, he wasn't lowering his head, emotions just passing through his eyes without him saying them. She touched his forehead to feel his temperature. He wasn't burning up. Good.
She covered him with the white blanket, and dragged the couch close to the bed, so she could watch him all through. It was past noon, and she sat there till midnight, remorse in the way she looked at him, guilt in the way she took care of him and love in the way she worried about him. It was dawn, and she woke up, expecting an empty bed, but she woke up to meet his eyes. There was a shade of blue in his eyes.
"Hey, you're awake."
He didn't seem to have heard her, and she shut up, holding his gaze the way he held hers. He lowered his head.
"Thank you"
She nodded as he stood up, removing the sheets she had used to cover him, and plopped himself off the bed. He had taken his clothes, wardrobe and all down, so she would have the room to herself, but then they were right there again, and he raised a questioning brow at her.
"I bought them back while you were asleep. This is still your room and if anyone deserves to leave, its me."
He didn't say a word, just took a hanger out, nodded at her and left, supposedly to the conjoining bathroom, one whose balcony led to his office. She thought it was weird, but someone from the outside would think it was a room, and not an impossibly huge bath house.
He didn't come back, even though she heard shuffling of feet, and somehow, she knew he had left to his office. Just to avoid her. She never prepared for this. She thought it would all be over with that massacre, but now, it simply wasn't.
"They are ready to go?"
Alec nodded.
"Melanie, the Grey wolf who lives just behind the second full moon mall, has a request for you?"
Evander broke out in laughter.
"You mean, nanny Mel. Is she here?"
"Yes"
"let her in."
The old woman came in, her steps indicating her age and sat, a small smile on he face, one that seemed old and loving and innocent at first glance. At first glance. Evander stood up and hugged her, resting his head on her shoulder lightly, and closed his eyes. She patted his back, before releasing herself from his grip and sat, clasping her hands together.
"Nanny Mel. Why do you want to take the child? You know that new moon is a pack of old wolves. Here is where she belongs."
Nanny Mel looked at him, a bit intensely, before her face fell.
"I told you I don't like it when you read my mind, Evander."
Alec quietly left, as he felt the energy in the room shift and his wolf was fighting, since the wolf energy of both Evander and the nanny came so strong. He closed the door behind him, and made to leave before Bella grabbed his arm.
"He can read minds?"
He looked at her from head to toe, and removed his hand from her grip.
"Yes, miss traitor. Now leave me alone."
"Then how didn't he know? How didn't he see what I was planning. It was all I could think of then."
He rolled his eyes and faced her.
"He trusted you. He didn’t think you would ever. I hate to say this, but he loved you and his wolf too. And that's why his eyes always turned a shade of blue whenever he looked at you. Cause even his wolf loved you."
He turned.
"Don't grip my hand like that again. I don’t like you."
He left, leaving her standing there, feeling even more guilty.
"So, nanny Mel. why do you want to take her? Why cant i see who she is?"
His voice was small and kind, and even the clown of the pack knew he would never hurt anyone. Nanny Mel kept her face stoic.
"She has no one. As for why you can't see her, I don't know. Maybe your magic is fading, nemesis finally catching up with you."
He sighed calmly.
"Nemesis?"
"Nemesis. For killing both your parents and framing it on your brother just to become the alpha of full moon.”
His eyes flared red for a moment, before turning to a shiny blue and he shook his head, trying hard not to cry.
"You know that's a lie, nanny."
She stood up.
"Try convincing yourself, Evander. I will take the girl to new moon tomorrow. You can't stop me."
She walked out and met Isabella outside, looking her up and down.
"You don't have the right to talk to our alpha like that."
"And you are the girl he's sleeping around with?"
She held her neck tight, the old woman losing her strength gradually.
"Evander won't be happy with this, so I’ll let you go. Just know that if you fuck around with Evander, you don't fuck around with me."
She released her, and the old woman staggered away, cursing under her breath.
