Chapter 18 A Comet on A Luna's Life

The comet, red and fiery, passed swiftly, its coming one that hasn't been seen for hundreds of years. Nanny Mel breathed hard, wishing it would be someone else. She knew the legends of the comets and she knew what this could mean. She clasped her hands.
"Moon goddess, please."
"You....found her?"
She asked, hoping she hadn't heard it right the first time. He nodded, smiling.
"I gave up on her when you came along. I thought I could just leave her since I had you. Maybe you proving to me that I never did was the moon goddess's way of telling me that she had someone else in store for me."
Her heart sank with those words, but she tried to ignore the fact that he hasn't said the mate was better. She didn’t want to give herself hope. He spared her another glance, before walking to his closet, the closet they both had never removed, even though he had given the room to her. He took out a hanger, smiled at it and literally skipped out of the room excitedly. She let herself go down, her body supported only by the bed post and her hair covered her face.
"Well, yeah. You deserve this, bitch. You...are not good for him."
She told herself, hitting her head with her fist. She heard him humming from the adjoining bathroom and she shook her head. Yeah, he's happy. Sometimes, the right way to love is to leave. But she wasn't going to. He wouldn't want her to. She stood up, a new resolution in her mind. He would be happy, even if she wasn’t the cause. No matter what.
"Where are you going?"
She looked at him after adjusting her shoes. He was wearing white, but not the normal white he wore. This white was styled like well, something Indian grooms wore. A long coat that covered small inner shirt. The coat was double breasted, and the gold buttons were at the right, down to just above his knee. He wore tight white trousers and white sneakers. His blond hair messy, but styled. He looked like...a dream. Her dream.
"I'm going with you to get her."
She said, trying hard not to stare.
"There is no need."
"I want to go"
she insisted, standing her ground.
"You'll intimidate her."
"I won't"
"you'll try to kill her"
she squeezed her eyes shut.
"I won't"
"you'll tell her we are dating"
"we aren't"
he looked at her.
"Okay. Lets wait for complete sunrise. We'll take the jeep"
"what jeep?"
He looked at her
“I wasn’t talking to you"
"oh." S
he walked past him, and went out, ignoring the pain she felt. How could she tell him not to meet his mate just so he could be her alpha? She shook her head, just as Jake and Alec came into the living room, smiling wide. Alex held his face and gushed, his eyes going wide as he saw Evander.
"Oh my! Such a handsome groom. Thank God we got rid of all the "distractions"."
He said, looking at her, smirking. He dragged Evander, who was laughing out, supposedly to get the car.
"I'm sorry."
Jake said to her and she looked up.
"Sorry for what?"
"You love him, don't you?"
She gave him a look and he let out a humorless laugh.
"I know you do, Isabella. Its there. And I’m sorry. I understand how you felt when he made you feel so much. When he made you feel things you've never felt before. You are a really brave and courageous woman, but you can't handle these feelings. You can't handle your love. I'm really sorry you had to lose him to someone you can't even fight with"
he said patting her shoulder. She smiled a bit, not saying any thing.
"And yeah, I think you should smile a bit more. It's nice"
he smiled at her and ushered her out, where they met Evander and Alec laughing about how Alex had met his own mate. Jake and Isabella got in the car, and Alex started to drive.
"Evander?"
Alec said, keeping his eyes on the uncleared road. They would have been stuck if it was a smaller car, but this car was fit for an uncleared trail like this.
"What are you doing to do with her?"
Evander looked at the back seat, where she and Jake shared and he blinked, as if brought back from his reverie.
"What?"
"You know no woman would like a...I hate to admit, gorgeous, single woman hanging around her husband and staying in his room"
He looked at her again, and only Alec missed the blue in his eyes.
"I...u hmm.."
He hasn't finished thinking up a response for Alec before he screamed, throwing his head back and holding his chest.
"What's wrong?"
Everyone in the car rushed to him, concerned, even though the space wouldn't allow them to. He was panting and Alec had stopped the car.
"Don't....I can smell her. Its strong here."
He had suddenly grown weak, and his words came slowly.
"Are you alright?"
He nodded and adjusted his sitting position.
"Let's just go."
Alec continued driving and all was silent, even though they kept sending concerned glances towards him. His hand was on his heart, his eyes shut.
"Stop."
He said suddenly and Alec stopped the car.
"Let's walk"
"you are not feeling well."
Isabella said, and from the way Jake shut his mouth, he was going to say that too.
"I want to smell her out here. Its stuffy in the car."
Alec nodded and locked the car, then came to his side while Jake supported him.
"Its okay."
He said to Jake, but he insisted. They walked slowly, before Evander stumbled on a blue bag. He took it and sniffed, and somehow, he looked a bit healthier.
"Its her."
Alec laughed and clapped his hands, before Jake said.
"Why is her bag here?"
They looked at each other, alarm bells ringing in their heads. Isabella came closer, looking at the contents of the bag. Some clothes, shoes, make up, comb, basically things she knew she would take....if she was running away. She shook her head.
"I seriously don't wanna be the first person to say this."
