Alec looked at Isabella. "Shut up. Let's keep going." Evander looked at the bag again and clutched it, before they resume walking. Jake and Isabella stayed behind, their minds occupied. Another shout from Evander, and all of them came to their senses. "What's happening?" He was panting and gasping for air, clutching his chest and crying. "I don't understand this.” Jake turned. "There is a house..." He strained his eyes. "Maybe a mile from here. I'll carry him there. Get ready to run." They all nodded, and he carried Evander, who was a bit quiet now, but sobbing nonetheless. They started running, ignoring the shrubs, Isabella ahead of them. Once they reached the house, three people, who were wearing black masks came out and ran the opposite direction. "No...." Evander breathed, but none of them thought anything of it, before they entered the house. There was a redhead, lying down on the floor, her hair scattered, her eyes open, in a pool of her own blood. Isabella squinted her eyes and went to her, touching her. "She's dead." She said curtly. Alec gasped, and Jake almost threw up. "Evander? Lets’ leave. Can you still smell her?" Jake said as he put him down, holding unto him. Evander looked at Jake, before his legs gave way and he fell right into the pool of blood. "Who?? Why?? Moon Goddess, why????!!!" He cried as he held the cold body, burying his face in her neck. Alec looked at Jake, confused. Isabella took was confused. "Evander, do you know her?" Evander held her body tighter to him. "She's...She's my mate." He said, and all eyes widened. Even Isabella gasped in horror. That explained it. The pain was his mate bond severing. "I'll go get them" Alex said and went out, leaving Jake and Isabella to console Evander. It wasn't hard, since he passed out not long after. Isabella watched calmly, tears filling her eyes too as she saw the damage that had been done to the girl. The girl looked around 18 or at most, 20 but not more than that. She was pretty, even in death. Alex came back panting. "I couldn't locate them." Isabella nodded. "They are not our priority right now. Let's get Evander home. And her too." Alec moved to take Evander, but she held him back, her eyes pleading for the first time towards him. "Please, let me." She said softly and Jake behind her nodded to Alec. He moved away from him, and stood as Jake took the girl from Evander, while she carried him. "You're strong, ain't you?" Alec said and she simply shrugged. They went out, forming a line, to ensure no one was left behind. They ran to the car they had parked, and Isabella tried to make the journey smooth, so Evander wouldn't be hurt. "Bella...?" She heard his voice and she slowed down. The car was already in sight. "There....there is someone behind you." She couldn't make out the words, before someone tackled her, and both of them came tumbling down. Jake was already setting the body in the trunk of the car, while Alec had gotten into the driver's seat. "Bella!" Jake shouted the same time Alex shouted "Evander!" Isabella turned, meeting a wolf, who just seemed more or less hungry. Well, she wasn’t the one to feed. Before the wolf could do anything more, she elbowed his face, kicking him in the guts. He stretched back, and she brought out her knife, advancing. The wolf seemingly repelled backwards, so far away she couldn't see him anymore. She turned and saw Evander's eyes return to his normal silver. "You don't need to kill him." He stood up, his feet wobbling, but stopped her before she could help. He smiled a bit, and what he said after that, she thought she had imagined it. "I am not dying. It's a mate bond, not a green eyed delta's charm." "She belongs here." Evander was fast asleep, after washing up, being checked by a doctor who gave him some pills, and disposing of his now soiled white clothes. Alex was talking to Jake, while Isabella stood beside Jake, daydreaming. "Its a mate bond, not a green eyed delta's charm" she laughed, clapping her hands like a child and the face Alec gave her made her immediately drop the hand and clear her throat. "So, Uhmm. What were we saying?" Alec gave her another look. "Confess. Did you kill her?" She eyed him and rolled her eyes. "She was raped. Did I do that too?" Alec hissed and continued talking to Jake, who was now struggling to hide his chuckle. "I'm going to give her body to the nurses for a proper clean up, before Evander wakes up, and also request a cross examination on the body. We'll find out if she really belongs here, but I have a strong hunch." Jake nodded, and Alec left the room, eyeing Isabella and she stuck her tongue at him. He rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath, shaking his head. "Evander has been through a whole lot, I pity him. But.....it won't kill him." He said, a funny look on his normally calm face and she sighed. "I know. Seeing his mate die like that would have traumatized anyone." He nodded, moving closer, his hands behind him. "But...." She raised an innocent brow. "But what?" He smiled, showing his teeth. "It wouldn't kill him, would it? after all, it was just a mate bond. Not a certain green eyed delta's charm." He said and laughed his way out of the room, leaving her blushing like a mad woman. "That little...." She said, laughing to herself and shaking her head. Evander was sleeping peacefully on their bed, so to say, since he had given the room to her. There had been no arguments about it. She smiled to herself. "I swear, I didn't want her to die...but now that she is....why don’t you be my alpha?"
