"What's going on?"
Alec shrugged.
"I don’t know either. I think it has something to do with membership of the pack, though."
Jake raised his brow.
"There hasn't been any problems with that. I mean, we haven’t had anyone coming in and requesting membership. Have we"
Alec simply shrugged.
"I don’t know, ask Evander. I have to get a lot of things ready. See you later."
He said and jogged off, leaving Jake to mull it over.
"Pack membership? What's with that?"
He mumbled, rubbing his chin. Just then he saw Isabella passed through the front porch, oblivious of her surroundings. If he was in a cartoon, a light bulb would have definitely light up on his head as his eyes twinkled with realization.
"Membership! Haha...sly Evander"
he laughed to himself, shaking his head.
"Bella, you have to be there."
She sighed.
"Why? I mean I am not exactly part of this pack."
He nodded.
"Exactly. That's why you have to come."
She rolled her eyes.
"Ugghhh...I said that to get out of having to go."
He laughed.
"I know. Now get ready. And.."
He handed her some papers.
"Give these to me over there."
"When?"
He shrugged.
"I'll call you out."
"You'll call me out? Why?"
He shrugged and gave her a quick peck.
"You'll know when we get there."
He closed the door behind him. She sighed and dropped the papers, then sat beside them. After whining, kicking and making a fuss, she finally stood up and went to take a bath.
"It's not my intention to disrupt your daily activities with these incessant meetings, but as a pack, we have to deal with important things together."
He started and a hush fell over the giant hall.
"As we all know, a pack, once in a while, might receive strangers or repentant rogues, who have intention of being part of them. We have received such a person. She lost her identity in her own pack and now wants to be identified as a member of the full moon pack. After my careful observation of her, I have found her to be learned, most especially in the field of medicine, diligent and of clean character. What else do we need to accept someone into our pack?"
The crowd remained silent.
"Careful observation, yeah yeah."
Alec murmured to Jake and he almost burst out laughing. Evander gave them a look which indicated that he had heard them and Jake lowered his head to laugh. He turned his attention back to the pack.
"Without further ado, let me introduce her to you all. Miss Isabella? Can you please come up and submit the forms?"
Isabella was confused. What forms? But she stood up nonetheless and stood next to him on the elevated podium. Realizing that she probably didn't get him, he outstretched his hand towards her hand, which she held the paper with.
"What?"
She whispered.
"Give me the papers."
He said, through gritted teeth, so no one would hear him.
"Oh".
She said and handed the papers over, even dramatically bowing which almost sent Jake over.
"What is she? Korean?"
Alec hissed and she eyed him, before plastering a smile on her face.
"As I said before, she has filled the membership forms and also volunteered to help the pack with her knowledge of medicine by being a nurse."
The crowd cheered and he looked sideways at her, the approval from the pack making her smile genuinely. The meeting was soon done and they walked out, side by side, but maintaining reasonable distance at the same time.
"So, that's what you wanted to do."
“ I didn't want to stress you so I filled the forms for you. I'm sure you'll do well as a nurse."
He answered her, kicking a stone out of his path. She smiled at him.
"Thanks."
He smiled back.
"Its alright. You're gonna be a nurse..."
He said and raised a suggestive brow.
"Until you become Luna."
He completed the statement and she laughed.
"Well, I cant wait."
"Neither can I."
It was late and the house was unusually quiet, since Isabella ran over to full moon clinic immediately, and he was left alone to do his work in his office. Suddenly, he felt someone lean over and kiss him.
"Isabella? You're back?"
"How did you know it was me? I wanted to scare you."
He laughed.
"Well, I know your scent, baby. You cant scare me."
She nodded.
"What if I hire some rogues?"
He laughed.
"Don't you dare."
She smirked, but then turned and smoothened her dress.
"Who knew I would be a hot nurse someday?"
He looked her over.
"Don’t let anyone hit on you."
She wrapped her arms around him and stepped closer.
"Do I need it? When you are here?"
He held her waist.
"Well, thank the moon goddess you know."
He said calmly and she released him.
"I'm tired and sleepy. Even my wolf is annoyed."
He went back to sit and gestured at her to come sit too.
"Why?"
She sat down next to him, but he carried her on his lap and started playing with her hair.
"I ran a bit...to split moon. I wanted to get this."
"Are you okay?"
She laughed. "Why wouldn’ti be? I've always wanted to get away. Anyway, here."
She pressed something onto his palm and he opened it to check. It was a blue necklace with a moon art in it. It was glowing.
"Wow."
She smiled.
"You like? I just wanted to see you wearing it."
"I love it. Thanks."
She took it from his hand and helped him put it on his neck. She smiled at it.
"It looks good."
"Thanks."
She stood up.
“ I'll get some rest now."
"Bella?"
She turned.
"Yeah?"
He stood and walked to her.
"Can I get a favor from you?"
She nodded.
"Yeah. What is it?"
"You know when we get married, you'll be given the Luna vow to read out loud. Its the typical vow for all wives of alphas. I want us to write our own vow. Something personal, something between us."
She smiled and nodded.
"We'll see who writes the most emotional one."
She said, and walked off. He turned to his desk, opened the drawer and brought out a paper.
"You don’t know how long I have been waiting to read this to you, love."
