"Kwan," Rebecca said, walking towards him, fresh blood still dripping from her mouth down to her chest, staining her clothes. "W—what have you done?" Kwan asked in fear, stepping backward. He slapped his forehead in disbelief. It was too late when he got downstairs; the policeman was already dead. He was bitten in the neck too. Kwan couldn't believe Rebecca could kill someone. What if she would kill him too? He needed to escape from here as soon as possible. Even if she'd say she loves him and wouldn't hurt him, to what extent? "Kwan, wait, please, let me explain!" Rebecca screamed, watching Kwan as he ran away from her. She fell to her knees, blaming herself; she shouldn't have done that, even if she just wanted to protect him from those people looking for him, but now he feared her. Kwan continued running through the forest, afraid that Rebecca would chase after him and kill him like she did to those police officers. It didn't matter anymore how much she tried to control her thirst for blood and hunger for flesh; he had to escape from her. After a few moments, Kwan stopped, panting as he touched his knees. It seemed like Rebecca didn't bother to chase him, but he wasn't safe, so he continued walking until he found blood on the ground. He followed it and discovered a small village of werewolves. "What are those things?" Kwan asked, confused, seeing a group of people who turned into a pack of wolves. "What are they eating? Is that flesh too?" Kwan was surprised when someone suddenly touched his shoulder, but he was more shocked to find out it was Rebecca. The blood from her mouth was gone, but she still had that bloodthirsty look in her eyes. "Shhh..." Rebecca hissed, covering Kwan's mouth just in case he would make a sound. "See those wolves? You wouldn't like being eaten by them." Kwan took a deep breath to calm his nerves. Rebecca didn't seem so much more dangerous than those wolves they were looking at. "There are enemies," the leader of the pack said, spotting Rebecca and Kwan. "This is bad; we have to get out of here," Rebecca said, holding Kwan's hand, and then she had no other choice but to carry him, as he wasn't a fast runner. The wolves chased after them, but Rebecca was so fast and eventually reached the mansion. Rebecca put Kwan down and said, "You're safe here, so please don't try to escape again. I don't want to see your dead body." "What are those things?" Kwan asked, confused. "They are werewolves; you wouldn't like to see them again. They eat people, not just suck their blood," Rebecca told him. "There are a lot of dangerous creatures out there, so we have to be careful from now on." "Scary," Kwan said, although for him, Rebecca was scarier, as she could kill two people without any weapon, and their bodies were already gone; perhaps she buried or disposed of them somewhere. "Don't worry, as I've said, I'll always protect you from everyone," Rebecca replied with a smile. "So, please, don't be stubborn. I don't intend to hurt you." "I'm pretty convinced now," Kwan said, and then he followed Rebecca inside the mansion. Rebecca locked the door to make sure that nobody from outside could enter. Their lives were in danger now that those werewolves had seen them. Soon, they'd find this house and launch an attack. They had to be ready before that happened. "Have this." Rebecca gave Kwan a handgun. "This will help you. You have to learn how to protect yourself, because I won't always be around you." "Why? Where are you going?" Kwan asked. "I have to go downtown to buy our needs here," Rebecca said, putting on her thick robe. "Will you be alright here?" "But you said it's dangerous?" Kwan asked. "Are you worried about me now? I thought you were still afraid," Rebecca said. "Please don't leave me alone here," Kwan replied, hugging Rebecca out of nowhere. "Alright, alright, I'll take you with me, but you should behave," Rebecca said with a smile, patting Kwan's head. "Here, take this basket." Rebecca locked the door of the mansion before going out. She was glad that the weather wasn't sunny, or else she'd have to stay in her coffin and hibernate. She couldn't go out in the sun because she'd die. "Are you ready?" Rebecca asked. "Let's go." Kwan and Rebecca made their way out of the forest towards the capital. They eventually reached the market riding a bus. They stepped out, blended with the crowd, and bought what they needed to survive. While picking the vegetables, Rebecca noticed two people watching them. They had been following them for a while now since they arrived in the market. They must be one of those werewolves. "Hurry up, Kwan, we have to get out of here as soon as possible," Rebecca said, picking the last tomato and putting it inside the basket. "What's wrong?" Kwan asked. "I'll tell you later, but first we have to leave," Rebecca replied, fixing her hood. They blended with the crowd, but they weren't lucky because they got inside the same bus with the two guys. Rebecca didn't feel good about this. The two guys had been staring at them—they looked strong with their muscles. "So, why did you tell me to go quickly?" Kwan asked. The bus wasn't running yet, as it was still waiting for other passengers, and the two guys didn't show any motive yet, so Rebecca held Kwan's hand and dragged him out from the bus, but one of the guys blocked the way, stopping them. "Hey! What's going on here?" The conductor asked, but the other guy punched his face. That punch was so strong that it sent him to the end of the chairs; blood streamed down his nose, and he fell unconscious. "Who are you?" Rebecca asked, sharply. "Rebecca San Jose, someone told us that you killed Granger. How true is that?" The big guy asked. "What's going on there?" the driver interrupted, seeing them through the mirror, but he didn't get any answer as the other guy pointed a knife at his neck and told him to drive. He didn't know how they could do this in the crowd; they weren't even afraid. The bus started running. Kwan stepped forward to protect Rebecca, he tried to punch the big man, but he was so strong that he just elbowed his back, and he felt like his spine was fractured. "Kwan!" Rebecca screamed. "Let him go!" She ran towards the guy, attempted to bite him, but he grabbed her hair and raised her up. "Don't be stubborn, beautiful girl. I won't make this difficult for you," the big guy said. Rebecca struggled as the man grabbed her neck. She tried to kick him, but he was so strong, and she fell unconscious. The bus stopped nearby the forest. The other guy killed the driver and left him behind.
