When she woke up, Lucille was tied inside a cage, with duct tape on her lips. She tried to free herself, but the more she struggled, the more it got painful—tears falling in her eyes like raindrops as she watched her husband being slaughtered. Patrick was screaming for help as the werewolves put him on the long table, then his screaming stopped when their leader cut off his head with a sharp machete; blood dripped from his neck prolifically. They also cut his limbs and arms like a pig. Then they hung his body parts in the rope tied to two trees. Watching them, Lucille felt sick. I'm so sorry, dear; I couldn't save you from these animals, but I promise to get out of here. Our children are waiting for us, Lucille thought, encouraging herself to stay strong even if Patrick was already gone. "Finally awake?" The pack's leader asked, walking towards Lucille, blood still dripping from the machete he was holding. "Are you crying? What's wrong?" "What's wrong? Are you that naive?" Lucille's words couldn't be understood due to the duct tape. "My husband is dead, and you're asking me such a foolish question?" Claude, Drake's younger brother, the current leader of the pack, betrayed his own brother by killing him while he was asleep. The whole village requested Drake to be killed, as he wasn't worthy to be their leader, and then nominated Claude to be the next alpha of the pack. "Oh, I'm sorry, I can't understand your words," Claude said. He opened the cage and removed the duct tape from Lucille's lips. "So, what were you saying again?" "I'll fucking kill you!" Lucille growled. "Oh! You've got a sharp tongue there," Claude said, grabbing Lucille's neck. "Well, let's see what you can do. You're beautiful, so I'll give you a chance." Lucille was confused about what this jerk was talking about. Did he just say he'd give her a chance to kill him? Patrick untied her but kept holding her hands in the back. "I'll let you escape. Run for your life while you can, but if I catch you, you'll be my wife, and you'll serve me your whole life," Claude whispered. "I'd rather die than serve a jerk like you!" Lucille exclaimed. "Well, I like your bravery. So, I'll force you to be my wife. Now run!" Claude exclaimed, letting go of Lucille. The other werewolves were just watching, confused about what Claude was doing. In order to become the next alpha, the rule said that Claude needed to have a wife, a mate. If he couldn't have that, then he wasn't deserving. As fast as she could, Lucille ran for her life. Through the dark forest. Everything around her blurred as her eyes were filled with tears. She felt like his body was floating already, but she had to escape; her children were waiting for her. "Ahhhh!" Lucille screamed as she tripped off a wood, stumbled, and her body rolled. "My children," she said before losing consciousness. Claude laughed as he walked towards Lucille's body, transforming into his human form. He was about to touch her, but someone suddenly appeared in front of him and kicked him. He stepped back and growled. "Don't you dare touch her!" The man warned, his eyes red like a bloody full moon, and he had fangs, indicating that he was a vampire. He was wearing a mask and a black robe, covering his face. "And who might you be?" Claude asked, gaining back his composure. "She's my catch. Stay away from this if you don't want to die." Another woman appeared. She pointed a handgun at Claude. She too had red eyes and fangs. "She's my friend, and you're not in the position to say that. Now stay back if you don't want to die!" She exclaimed. Claude knew he was on a losing side since he was alone and there were two of them; one was holding a gun, and the other was good at combat. Both of them were vampires, so he decided to retreat for now. "I'll never forgive you for taking my catch," Claude said. He transformed into his werewolf form and disappeared through the woods. "Is she alright?" The man asked. "She's still alive. We have to get out of here before that wolf comes back and kills us," the woman said. The man nodded in response. He carried Lucille and disappeared through the woods. "Where am I? What happened?" Lucille asked as she opened her eyes. She looked around and realized she was in the living room of Rebecca's mansion. "You're finally awake," Rebecca said. "Are you alright?" "Rebecca?" Lucille asked, then she remembered what happened. Those wolves ate her husband. She was running through the woods and stumbled, then everything turned dark. "Did you save me?" "We did," Kwan replied. "But we didn't see Patrick." "He's dead," Lucille said. "I saw those wolves eat him. They are disgusting, and I'll never forgive them!" She stood up, her blood boiling, wanting to take revenge. "Calm down. Take a deep breath," Rebecca said. "You can't defeat them alone. You'll need help, and we're willing to help you if you want." "At what cost?" Lucille asked. "You're my friend, and if you really want to take revenge, then we'll help you, but you have to know that werewolves aren't to be taken lightly," Rebecca said. "You'll need strength to fight them." "In short, you'll need to become one of us," Kwan said. "Become one of you?" Lucille asked, shocked. "Do you mean become a vampire?" Kwan and Rebecca nodded. "Yup." Lucille stayed silent for a while, thinking. Was it really worth it to sacrifice her human form to take revenge? What would happen if she became one of them? "Don't worry, we are not forcing you to do it, but know that we're here willing to help you," Rebecca said. "Alright!" Lucille exclaimed. "I accept your offer. Even if I hate vampires, I'll do it to teach those monsters a lesson." "Okay," Rebecca said. "Are you ready?" Lucille nodded. Without further talking, Rebecca sank her fangs into her neck, sucking her blood while injecting the dark one. "Ahhhh!" Lucille screamed as her veins were moving; her eyes turned red for a moment, then they came back to normal. "Now that you're a vampire, let us tell you about the dos and don'ts," Rebecca said. "First, don't go out during sunny days, or you'll die. Second, control your urge to suck blood. Third, stay away from fire, garlic, etc.," Kwan said. "Got it," Lucille said. "So, where should we start?" Rebecca asked. "We'll have to know the numbers of those werewolves, as well as their location. We'll need a map of the surroundings," Kwan said. "Thank God I still have this," Lucille said, taking out her smartphone. "I can use Google Maps to see the location." "Oh, I didn't expect that to be useful, but we don't need it anymore; I have a map," Rebecca said, walking towards the cabinet. She opened it; there was a map, a little telescope, and a handgun inside. She took the map and went back. "So, this is the forest, our home is here, and this must be the village of werewolves," Kwan marked them on the map. "Are you sure about that, Kwan?" Rebecca asked. "Their village is nearby the lake; this must be here." Rebecca changed the mark. "Well, thanks for correcting me," Kwan said, his hand on Rebecca's shoulder. "All we have to do now is to know their numbers so that we can easily take them down." "That's your job; you're a professional spy, aren't you?" Rebecca asked, staring at him. Kwan scratched the back of his head and smiled awkwardly. "So, you still remember the past?" he asked. "How can I forget? It's magical how we turned from enemies to lovers, like a love story," Rebecca said. "I think I should leave for a while," Lucille interrupted. "Where are you going?" Rebecca asked, confused. Lucille did not reply, but deep inside her, she was jealous that Rebecca and Kwan were still together after all those storms they went through, while she and Patrick got separated just like that. How unfair.
