Chapter Sixty-nine

After having a good time with Rebecca, Kwan set off on his journey to spy on the werewolves. He used his spying ability and vampire instincts, watching them from a distance through the small telescope he borrowed from Rebecca. He was confused when a werewolf stared directly at him, as though it knew he was there.
"This is bad," Kwan muttered. He quickly rushed back to the mansion before the wolves could catch him.
"The enemies aren't to be underestimated. They can sense my presence from afar," Kwan reported to his team.
"There must be another way. We can't just attack without knowing how many there are," Rebecca replied.
"I have a plan," Lucille said. "But it's dangerous."
Kwan and Rebecca exchanged curious looks. "What plan?" they asked.
And so, the three of them went to the werewolf village. Lucille pretended to be a hostage, while Kwan and Rebecca tied her up and brought her to them.
"Is this what you're looking for?" Kwan asked, drawing the werewolves' attention.
The werewolves eyed Lucille, while Rebecca stood beside her, mentally counting their numbers. Then the leader emerged from his tent. Rebecca and Kwan looked familiar to him, but he couldn't quite place where he'd seen them before.
"Did you catch her for me?" Claude asked, studying them. He recognized them as the ones who had saved his previous catch. Why were they giving her back? Or were they planning something?
"Attack!" Claude suddenly ordered.
Kwan and Rebecca realized their plan had been compromised—Claude had recognized them. With no other choice, they braced for a fight. Rebecca aimed her handgun, and for a moment, no one moved.
"What are you waiting for?" Claude growled, glaring at the other werewolves. "I said, attack!"
"But you're not in the position to order us around," one of the werewolves retorted. "Now it's your turn to prove you're worthy to be the next alpha."
"Shit!" Claude cursed, then shifted his focus to the three of them. "You've made the wrong choice by coming back. I'll never let you escape again." He transformed into his werewolf form and charged.
Rebecca fired at Claude, but his speed made him nearly impossible to hit. He leaped toward her. Fortunately, Kwan acted fast, saving Rebecca as they both tumbled to the ground.
Claude didn't relent. He jumped again, but this time, as he was mid-air, Rebecca fired, hitting him in the head. He fell to the ground, dead.
The other werewolves were shocked, but true to their nature, they didn't fight. Instead, they bowed their heads in respect to the three for killing Claude. The chieftain, an old man, stepped forward.
"I’ve seen the three of you fight," the chieftain said. "And I’m convinced enough to become your follower."
Kwan, Rebecca, and Lucille exchanged surprised glances. If he wanted to pledge his loyalty, then perhaps there was no need for further conflict. This could mean peace between vampires and werewolves.
"We too," the other werewolves cheered.
"By the way," the chieftain continued, "I am Neru, the chieftain of this village. It is our privilege to serve you, masters."
"I’m Kwan, and these are Rebecca and Lucille," Kwan introduced himself and the others.
Kwan thought about it for a moment. If the werewolves were truly loyal, he could rely on them for protection in the future, especially when their lives were threatened again.
After establishing the alliance between the werewolves and vampires, Kwan, Rebecca, and Lucille returned to the mansion. Exhausted, they reflected on the events. Though their original plan hadn’t worked, they had succeeded in a different way, realizing they didn’t need to kill all the werewolves after all.
"I'm relieved they didn't fight us," Rebecca said. "I don't know what would have happened if they had."
"Exactly," Lucille agreed. "At least I've finally given justice to Patrick's death."
"I hope his soul rests in peace," Rebecca said.
"I think it's finally time to go home. Our children are waiting for us there. I don't know how I can tell them about what happened to their dad," Lucille sighed.
"You can stay here for a while until you're ready," Rebecca suggested.
"I'd love too, but you know, I've promised Patrick's parents that we'll be back after a week, and it's been two weeks already. I'm sure they are worried now, I don't know how they'll react once they find out that their son is dead," Lucille said.
"That's really a difficult situation you're in, but you have to tell them the truth," Rebecca replied.
"Hey guys, aren't you tire already?" Kwan interrupted, he was holding a glass of wine.
"What's that for?" Lucille asked.
"Not now," Rebecca said.
"Come on, I just want to celebrate our victory," Kwan said. "Don't you want Lucille to taste this imported whiskey before she go back?"
"Alright, but don't sleep with me after, okay?" Rebecca asked. "You're gonna puke on me again."
"How weak," Lucille teased, punching Kwan's stomach.
Kwan poured them a glass of wine. A few moments later, the three of them were drank, but instead of sleeping with Rebecca, Kwan mistook Lucille as his wife and slept with her.
"Ahhh... Patrick, don't stop," Lucille moaned, not knowing that the one fucking her was Kwan.
The next day, Rebecca woke up early to prepare for breakfast. She was confused why Lucille was in a hurry that she left so early without even saying goodbye. She was confused what happened.
"Are you okay?" Kwan asked, hugging his wife from the back while she was cooking.
"How can I be fine?" Rebecca replied. "Lucille left too early without even saying goodbye. Did something happened last night?"
Kwan was speechless. He couldn't tell Rebecca the truth as he knew it could ruin their relationship, so he kept it to himself.
"She might be so worried about her children," Kwan said. "You know, she's been talking about them."
"Maybe you're right. So, what do you want for breakfast, my dear?" Rebecca asked.
"I want your lasagna, milady. I'll always want it over anyone's," Kwan replied, nibbling Rebecca's ear.
Rebecca was confused by the way Kwan said those words as if he meant something else, but she didn't overthink it and prepared his lasagna. Although they were vampires, they still want to eat human food.
"What are you doing?" Rebecca asked. "Go and take a seat. I can't focus on cooking."
Kwan followed Rebecca's order like a good dog. He sat down in the chair beside the table and wait for his lasagna to be cooked. Then, they had breakfast together, but their happy days didn't last for long when Lucille sent a letter to Kwan, saying that she was pregnant with his child.
"What's that letter about?" Rebecca asked, confused. She grabbed the letter from Kwan and read it. "Lucille is pregnant? Who's the father?"
"I... I..." Kwan stuttered, he still couldn't tell the truth. He didn't know what he felt or what to feel.
"We should visit her sometimes. I want to ask her who's the father of her child. It couldn't be Patrick since he died already," Rebecca said.
"But what if they had sex before they died?" Kwan asked.
"Oh, maybe you're right," Rebecca said. "Anyway, I still want to visit her to ask how she's been."
Kwan didn't feel good about it. What if Lucille would tell Rebecca that he was the father of her child? That would be a big trouble. What if he would just tell her the truth? But no matter how what he'd do, he couldn't put it into words, as he knew how much it could hurt Rebecca.
