Chapter 3 Northern Winds of Vengeance

Geo
My mind is still fuzzy as I ran and ran not caring where I was going until I heard a thunder of paws coming closer and closer. Deciding to stop and look around, I realized that I'm not on the free lands anymore as lights from houses flickered at the distance. I'm not in the Silver Moon Pack though because I made sure to run on the other side of the forest. The thunderous sound of paws became louder, and I'm guessing it's the pack's patrol coming for me, a trespasser, so I hid myself in a thick bush and waited for them to pounce on me. At this point, I don't really care if they're going to kill me, I lost my reason to live anyway.
But the pack of wolves just passed by me and none of them even noticed the stench of a rogue in their territory. Perhaps they have a bigger fish to fry, for all I care.
When the coast seemed to clear up, I slowly got out of the bushes only to be tackled to the ground by a golden brown she-wolf just about my size. Her eyes are a mesmerizing ocean blue and her lavender scent made me freeze on the spot, not having the will to fight her. It's the wolf from the river! And there's really something about her.
She loosened her hold on me and eventually stepped back, making me stand on all fours properly. We just looked at each other for a while, and then, she ran towards the flickering lights ahead. I was about to follow her, really curious about this wolf however, something snapped inside of me, it's like a bond that suddenly slipped away. My heart hammered at that. A rogue can never really have a true bond with anyone, except for their family. So this feeling only meant that sometimes bad happened to one of the members of my family.
Sparing the retreating she-wolf one last glance, I dashed back to our house, feeling as if I'm not running fast enough as that uneasy feeling only worsened. When I neared the house though, I saw flames engulfing it and the nearby trees and large wolves scattered in the area. I leaped forward to look for Ma and Pa but I was met by a male wolf larger than me so I raised my sharp claws and clawed him smack on the face. I then kicked him and met yet another wolf, until I was surrounded by three of them.
Okay, I may be good with doing heavy chores and hunting like most male wolves are but, I'm not a really good fighter. However, my parents are still out there somewhere in the flames, and I have to get to them, so I gave it the best that I can. When they leapt towards me, I quickly dodged backwards, making them hit each other instead. And then I climbed a tree and kicked its branch off, hitting one on the head. I then jumped down to meet the next one in mid air and tackle him to the ground, I scratched his face and when I felt the other one lunge towards me, I kicked him using my hind legs and seeing an opening, I rushed towards the house that's almost burned to ashes.
No! No! No! Ma! Pa! Please be okay... Please...
"That's enough boys! I think they got the message that this land belongs to the Golden Moon Pack now and rogues are not allowed to stay anymore!" A booming alpha tone resounded behind me but I could care less really as I am still trying to find my parents.
Maybe it's the heavy smoke, or the unbearable heat, or everything all at once that made me collapse on the ground, totally loosing everything.
"Glory... Glory..." My mother's voice whispered in my ears and my eyes shot open. The hard and lumpy surface that I'm lying on immediately registered in me, so I slowly sat up. Looking around me, I noticed that I'm in the bank of the river where I first saw the blue-eyed she-wolf and my father was sitting roughly two meters away from me, cradling my unconscious mother in his arms. My forehead creased as I thought I heard her voice earlier, what does this mean?
"Geo..." Pa's voice broke along with my already broken heart. "I tried to save her. But there were just too many of them. They're too strong for me to take." He sobbed and I just threw my arms at the both of them. I just feel so lost now and I honestly don't know what to do anymore. It hurts, it hurts so much to not be there in time to save someone so important. And now, I lost my mother. I lost almost everything by now and there's nothing I can do about it, so I just cried my heart out, along with my father.
"How are we going to tell them?" I asked when we both calmed down. I mean my brothers and sisters have to know about this, yet we are literally packs apart with no means of communication.
"They'll just have to find out later on, that's the least of our concern right now honestly. We need to find somewhere safe to camp. We'll just have to let your mother rest here." He stated and I agreed.
With a heavy heart, we buried Ma by the river and placed a boulder over the soil with her name engraved on it.
"It's getting late, let's just camp here for the night." I suggested, not willing to leave my mother but Pa shook his head.
"The land is awfully close to the territory of the Golden Moon Pack. We're still weak and injured, we can't risk another attack." He sighed.
He's right. With one last glance and bow at my mother's grave, Pa and I shifted into our wolves and ran towards the harsh terrain of the North, an area nobody would want to claim because of the difficult terrain and dull soil. At least here, we know that we are safe from those arrogant packs. We climbed a rocky mountain and soon found a cave inhabited by bats and decide to stay the night there.
The recent events flashed to my mind and rage just filled my heart. I would avenge my mother, and I will make Anne pay for what she did. I will destroy them all, the Golden Moon, and the Silver Moon, all of them are going to beg on their knees for the mercy that I would not give them.
The next month in the Northern Mountains passed by like a blur, but I didn't waste it by just mourning like my father did, instead I trained myself. I used the rough environmental conditions to strengthen my abilities and become more skilled in fighting and of course hunting. When the new moon came, I know that I'm ready.
"Where are you headed with those supplies?" Pa asked when he saw me stuffing wild yet edible berries into the bag that he weaved from the shrubs in the area.
"I'm going down the mountain Pa. It's time for them to pay for what they did to us." I stated. He just looked at me and without saying a word, nodded and went back to his meal, a roasted meat from a petite goat we hunted last night.
I didn't waste anymore time, I shifted and trekked down the rocky path to go to the Golden Moon Pack, that's where I'm going to start my revenge. It didn't take long for me to reach the river where Ma was buried and I paid her a visit before boldly crossing the gushing waters to enter the lands of the Golden Moon Pack. I heard rustling in the bushes and before their wolf patrol can pounce on me for trespassing, I leapt at it, pinning it to the ground, and digging my sharp claws on its neck, finishing it off.
I did it. My first kill. It felt too easy after my rigorous training, not sparing the corpse a second glance, I ran further into their territory until I neared the houses. I skillfully climbed a tree to get a better look at the village and devise some sort of strategy to get to the packhouse, the largest building in there which is unfortunately at the center of the complex. Well, I have to be stealthy then.
I shifted back into my human form and fished out a bottle of green vile from my bag. I sprayed some to conceal my scent with its strong mint aroma and then climbed down to execute my plan.
When I reached the first alley, I saw patrols running towards the border by the river, probably knowing what happened to their pack mate so I stayed still until the coast is clear. When they're far enough, I dashed from alley to alley before finally reaching the closest alley to the pack house.
There are a lot of guards patrolling the front so I moved to the side and found a door that's perfect to use for my entrance. Only one guard stood there sleepily and I fished out another bottle in my bag, covering my mouth and nose with the cloak that I'm wearing and sprayed it towards his direction. When he sniffed the air, his eyes rolled at the back of his head before he slumped down on the ground. I sneakily stole the keys from him and quietly opened the door. Once inside, I took the servant's staircase towards the very top where the Alpha's room would be. How do I know all of this? Well I was a servant in the Silver Moon Packhouse and the style of the building is very much alike.
When I reached the top floor, I was greeted by three huge double doors. I carefully assessed the sounds I can hear from all three of them before I heard footsteps coming up from the main staircase.
"Alpha Vlad! There's an intruder!" A soldier shouted. The double doors at the middle swung open, revealing the Alpha, fearing I would be caught, I twisted the knob of the closest door to me and opened it as soon as the alpha slammed his door shut. I entered a dark room and before I knew it, I was pinned to the ground by someone.
