Ven Finally, it's my turn to speak up. I just hope what I've got to say would help Geo win the case. "Yes it's true ma'am. While we were caught up in the magical storm, there were a few desperate rogue wolves that attacked us, and me directly. And he saved me, thrice. The third time is during the time we faced the witch who created the magical storm and he killed her." I narrated. My grandmother nodded slowly and appeared to be thinking, however Alpha Archer interrupted her thoughts when he spoke up. "He saved you and protected you? But why do these medical records say otherwise?" My eyes widened at his words as he handed my grandmother a folder that contains my X-ray results. She looked at me with a worried expression and then showed the results to everyone. My jaw dropped at the photo in front of us that shows dislocated and broken bones. "That's fake! I have the real one, right here." I said confidently as I pulled out two papers from the folder that I brought. It's the copy of the results that Mrs. Samson gave me. I knew these would come in handy. I gave it to my grandmother and she compared the papers, along with the other elders and they seemed troubled. Geo looked at me with a worried look on his eyes and I gave him the same look. I'm worried that they won't believe me and that we'd lose the case. "Can we call Mrs. Samson to confirm which one of this is true?" Someone from the elders asked. My dad's eyes glistened, indicating that he's mind linking to someone, and then he said, "She's attending to the needs of the injured soldiers who just arrived from the war of the Platinum Moon Pack and the Emerald Moon Pack." He said and I pouted. She's supposed to be my greatest hope right now. "We can't wait for her then, the treatment would probably take days. I have a proof that what Ven gave you is fake." Alpha Archer strongly stated and we all watched as he gave my grandmother another folder. "So you were hexed?" She asked, looking at me. Oh gosh, Archer provided yet another made up copy of my other test! I was about to deny it but my father spoke up. "So that's why you had been defending this moron and even went as far as faking your own health condition. That's it! There's no need for this trial to continue as that man obviously deserves to be punished by death!" He stated using his alpha tone that made everyone, except me, bow their heads. "He will be executed by sunrise, tomorrow." With that said, he stood up and didn't wait for any of us to speak. His decision is clearly final and I feel livid! "Ven..." I snapped out of my thoughts of fury when I heard Geo's voice beside me. Apparently, he's going to be taken back to the dungeon now. "You know their lying right?" I muttered and he nodded. "But there's nothing we can do to change their minds." He whispered as he was dragged away by the two guards. I held back the tears that are threatening to fall from my eyes as I watched their retreating figures. "I don't know what you see in him that made you stand up for him." I spun around to face my grandmother. Apparently we're the only ones who are left in the room. "Maybe it's still the effect of the hex. But honey, I'm here to tell you that, your father is doing his best to keep you safe. You're more important to this pack than you think Ven Elise." She sighed and that's when I exploded. "Important? You call me important? So important that no one would believe in me? That you'd choose to listen to Alpha Archer more than me?" Her eyes widened at my outburst. "And my father? He's not really doing his best to protect me. He's doing his best to sell me off to Archer and use me to gain more power. Perhaps, that's why I'm important, isn't it? I'm a golden wolf after all!" I almost screamed at her face and for a second, I saw a glimpse of empathy in her eye, but it immediately disappeared. Before she can say anything, I stormed off the building and headed to the community houses. I knocked on a yellow door and Carson, the guard in the dungeon opened the door, surprised to me. Apparently, after escorting Geo back to the dungeon he’s off to his house as his shift is during the night. "I need your help." I said as soon as he lets me in. "Again? You haven't paid me for not telling on you last night." He chuckled. "I didn't forget about that, but this is bigger than last night." I said seriously. "What is it then?" He asked. "Do you mind if I call my friends here first?" I asked permission and he nodded. So, I mind linked Ella, Jules, and Aliyah. We waited for like, 15 minutes before the three of them arrived. "We heard he lost the case Ven. What are you gonna do about it?" Ella said. "I'm gonna sneak him out, and I'm going to need your help." I boldly stated and they all looked at me like I've lost my mind. "I understand why you need my dad's help, I mean he's a well trained guard with 10 years of experience in the dungeon, but us? What can we do?" Jules pointed out. And yes, he's Carson's son. "You're complaining when you're training to be a soldier? How about me? I'm a pack doctor's daughter and I barely got my affinity! How am I supposed to help?" Ella seconded. "Guys, you're the only one who understands why I have to do this." I pleaded. I really can't pull this out alone. "Uhh, I don't." Carson said, raising his hand. That's when his wife, Julia, came in and joined us, and then my friends spilled the beans. "Oh, you're in big trouble then. But let's hear your plan. Perhaps it's worth the shot." I told them my plan and thankfully, they willingly agreed. I was worried that they wouldn't. I mean this was urgent and we don't have any other time to do it but tonight. After the six of us made a pact, I immediately went back to the packhouse only to be met by my older brother, Von. "Hey." He greeted me with a hug and I hugged him back. "Finally you're back! How's your training?" I asked, genuinely happy that I'm still able to see him before I'd go rogue in this pack tonight. He's an amazing brother and friend after all. I couldn't just leave him without saying goodbye. Not that I could directly say goodbye. "Tough, I'm tired though, I don't want to talk about it." He sighed and I just nodded as we headed to the kitchen. "By the way, I asked them to cook a lot, care to join me?" He offered with a chuckle. "You bet!" I cheered. It didn't take long for the omegas to serve us all the food Von asked them to cook and he wasn't kidding, he really did asked them to cook a lot. Of course he asked them to join us too. It's like we're having a dinner feast. A welcome home party for Von and secretly a farewell party for myself. It's bittersweet, really. "Can we join the party?" Von froze and I let out a sigh when we heard Alpha Archer enter the kitchen with our dad. "Dad, Alpha Archer." Von greeted whilst I remained quiet in my seat. "Come join us. We're just umm..." He trailed off, seemingly flustered. "Welcome home son. I'm glad you initiated this mini-celebration because we do have a lot of reasons to celebrate. Your return, Ven's rescue from that kidnapping incident, and her engagement with Archer." Von and I choked at his words. I thought I already declined, why is he still pursuing that arrange marriage? "I didn't know you're already engaged!" Von's voice resounded in my head as he mind-linked me. "Trust me, I did not agree to that!" I answered and he just looked at me with wide eyes. "I know it's a lot to take in but, it just seemed meant to be. We're past 18 and still mateless. Plus, we would make a great couple, won't we?" Archer boastfully proclaimed and I just lost my appetite. "Oh that's nice." Von said dryly. "You know what, the fatigue from all the training I've been through is really taking a toll in me. I think I have to retire for the night. Carry on though, don't mind me." He expertly excused himself and I begged him with my eyes to take me with him. I don't want to be stuck here with these liars! "And Ven, I have something for you in my room, you can just knock on my door later." He added. "Why wait for later when I could come with you now? I'm done eating anyway." I enthusiastically responded as I stood up and practically ran after him, not sparing my dad and Archer a glance. "Thanks for rescuing me." I said as soon as Von and I reached his room. "Nah, it's nothing. And I don't really have something for you anyway." He shrugged. "So, what's the deal with Archer?" "They want to merge our pack, dad and Archer. They want us to get married and even have pups that he claimed, would be the strongest, considering I'm a golden wolf and he's a white wolf." I said with my jaw clenched and my eyes narrowed, glaring at the floor. "Why? Did you not find your mate yet?" He asked and I met his eyes sadly. "I'm actually leaving with him tonight." ----------
