CHAPTER XXIII ♡
After an enjoyable pre-wedding photoshoot, Jay and Meinny sat in a small café, savoring a cup of coffee while planning their next steps. The sun began to set, casting a warm and romantic glow.
"Darling, we need to reach out to our families soon. They need to know the wedding date and the preparations," Jay said, pulling out his phone.
"Yes, exactly. I’m worried about my family in Country A. They need to arrive early to help with the arrangements," Meinny replied, her expression showing concern.
Jay nodded. "Let’s start with your family. I can call your parents."
Meinny smiled. "Thank you, Jay. I’ll contact my siblings there."
The First Call
Jay took a deep breath and dialed his mother’s number. Before long, her warm voice came through the line.
"Hello, Jay! How are you, dear?" His mother’s voice was filled with affection.
"I'm good, Mom! I just finished the pre-wedding shoot with Meinny. Everything went smoothly," Jay replied, trying to convey his excitement.
"Oh, that’s wonderful! How is Meinny? Is she doing well?" his mother asked.
"She’s great, Mom. We’re both really happy! We want to tell you about our wedding," Jay said.
"I’ve already heard the good news from your friends! When’s the date?" his mother asked enthusiastically.
"We’re planning to get married in about a month. We hope you can come and celebrate with us," Jay explained.
"Of course, dear! We’ll get everything ready. I’ll let everyone here know," his mother replied.
Jay smiled, feeling grateful. "Thank you, Mom. But there’s one thing—we also want the family in Country A to come early to help with the preparations."
"Oh, okay. Has Meinny contacted her family yet?" his mother inquired.
"Not yet, but she’ll do it right after this," Jay answered.
"Good. We’ll prepare everything here. I can’t wait to see you both get married," his mother said.
"Me too, Mom. We’ll call you again after Meinny speaks with her family," Jay assured her.
"Alright, dear. Take care!" his mother ended the call with warmth.
The Second Call
After finishing, Meinny picked up her phone to call her sister in Country A, Verra. Her heart raced, eager to hear from her family.
"Hello, sweet sister! How are you?" Verra’s cheerful voice came through.
"Hello, sister! I’m good. I just finished the pre-wedding shoot with Jay," Meinny replied.
"Oh, wow! That must have been so exciting! How did it turn out?" Verra asked.
"It was fantastic! We’re really happy. I wanted to tell you about our wedding," Meinny said.
"Yes, everyone here has heard the news, but we don’t know the date yet. When is it?" Verra asked curiously.
"We’re planning the wedding in about a month. I want you all to come early to help with the preparations," Meinny said, hoping Verra could coordinate everything.
"Alright, I’ll inform our parents and the rest of the family right away. We all want to support you," Verra replied.
"Thank you, Verra! That means so much to me. We’ll prepare everything here," Meinny said cheerfully.
"Don’t worry, Meinny. We’ll do our best to help. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!" Verra added.
After chatting for a while, they said their goodbyes. Meinny felt relieved and happy. "Jay, they’re all very excited to come," she told him.
"Great! Everything will go smoothly," Jay replied, gently stroking the back of Meinny's hand.
After contacting their families, Jay and Meinny settled back in the café, planning their next steps. "We need to make a list of things to prepare before they arrive," Jay suggested.
Meinny pulled out her small notebook. "Okay, first we need to think about accommodations for the family here. Maybe we could rent a few apartments."
"I agree. And we also need to arrange food. My family loves Indonesian cuisine; we should showcase some local dishes," Jay replied.
"What about decorations? We need to decide on a theme and colors to ensure everything matches," Meinny continued.
"Yes, and don’t forget about transportation. We need to arrange vehicles to pick them up from the airport," Jay added.
They continued discussing various details, jotting down every important item that needed attention. Each time they thought of something new, their faces lit up with excitement.
---
A few weeks later, Meinny's family arrived in Jakarta. Jay and Meinny waited at the airport, brimming with anticipation.
"Jay, look! They’re here!" Meinny exclaimed, waving at her family.
Jay grinned broadly. "Let’s welcome them!"
They rushed to greet Meinny’s family, who appeared tired yet delighted. Meinny's mother immediately embraced her tightly. "Meinny, my child! I’ve missed you so much!" she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
"I’ve missed you too, Mom! Welcome!" Meinny returned her mother’s warm hug.
Jay welcomed the other family members. "Welcome to Korea! We’re so glad you could make it," he said, extending his hand for a handshake.
"We’re happy to be here, Jay. This is a very special moment," Meinny’s father said, nodding in understanding.
After introductions, they all gathered at Jay's home. Meinny and Jay arranged a meeting to discuss the wedding plans.
"Thank you for coming early. We really appreciate it," Jay said as they all settled in the living room.
"We're happy to help, Jay. We want to make sure everything goes smoothly for your wedding," Meinny’s mother replied.
"So, what do we need to do?" Meinny’s father asked.
Meinny opened the notes they had prepared. "First, we need to decide on the wedding theme. I’d like something elegant and simple, with pastel colors."
"How about adding a local touch? Maybe some tropical flowers for decoration?" Verra suggested.
"That’s a great idea! We can incorporate traditional elements for an aesthetic vibe," Jay added.
Everyone agreed with the idea, and the conversation continued about other details, such as the menu and the event schedule.
---
In the midst of the planning, a few challenges arose. "One concern we have is the weather. What if it rains on the big day?" Jay's mother asked.
Jay frowned. "We could prepare a tent or an alternative indoor location if necessary."
Meinny added, "We need to ensure everyone knows the backup plan just in case something happens."
They all agreed to plan for contingencies to avoid any disruptions during the event.
The Hustle Before the Wedding
After several weeks of bustling activity, the wedding day approached. Meinny’s family was involved in every detail, assisting Jay and Meinny in getting everything ready.
"Meinny, have you ordered the wedding cake yet?" Verra asked while helping Meinny try on her dress.
"Not yet; we can go to the bakery tomorrow to choose one. I want something special," Meinny replied.
"And we need to discuss the music. Have you chosen a band?" Meinny’s mother inquired.
"Yes, they’ll perform at the reception. I want the atmosphere to be joyful," Meinny responded.
Jay watched with gratitude, appreciating how enthusiastic their families were. "Thank you for helping us. This means a lot to us," Jay said.
