COL 8°

Time seemed to dance in the shadows of our thoughts, moving quickly, then disappearing without us realizing it, much like Meinny's pregnancy which had now reached the 4-month mark. Her belly had started to round out, making it more difficult for her to do certain tasks.
Because of this, Jay, her husband, forbade her from going back to work as a doctor. At first, Meinny resisted his request, but after the incident a month ago when she almost lost their baby due to exhaustion from her daily duties, she agreed to her husband's request.
That morning, the soft sunlight filtered through the window curtains, illuminating the warm living room. The couple sat side by side on the balcony sofa of their room, Jay’s hand gently resting on his wife’s now rounded belly. They smiled at each other while talking about a hopeful future. Outside, birds chirped joyfully, greeting the bright morning, while inside, the peace felt so real, like a new life beginning to grow within them.
“How do you feel today, sweetie?” Jay asked, still gently caressing his wife’s swollen belly.
“I feel better than before, thank you, hubby, for always fulfilling my requests,” Meinny replied with a smile.
“Do you want to have breakfast now, darling?” Jay asked after glancing at the clock, which showed it was past 7.
“Yes, hubby,” Meinny answered briefly.
After enjoying the warmth of the morning sunlight, the couple rose from the sofa with soft steps. Jay, always attentive, gently held his wife’s hand with affection, guiding her toward the bedroom door.
Meinny smiled, feeling the warmth in her husband's hand, while her slightly swollen belly felt a bit heavy, but it was a feeling full of happiness.
They walked together toward the kitchen, their footsteps in sync with the morning music playing from the radio in the corner. Along the hallway, the open windows allowed fresh air to flow in, bringing the calming scent of damp earth. When they reached the kitchen, they were welcomed by the aroma of breakfast that the maid had just prepared. On the dining table were a plate of toast, eggs, and a glass of fresh orange juice, all neatly arranged and ready to be enjoyed.
Jay sat next to Meinny and smiled while watching his wife gently touch her belly. “Are you feeling better now, darling?” he asked softly, his eyes full of care.
Meinny nodded, smiling warmly at him. “Yes, just a little tired. But I’m okay, hubby,” she replied in a soft yet calm voice.
After enjoying the breakfast prepared by their maid, the warm morning atmosphere seemed even cozier. Meinny sat comfortably in her chair, savoring the last of her warm tea. Jay sat across from her, leaning back in his chair while gazing at his wife with love. However, suddenly, Meinny’s expression changed, looking thoughtful, as if something was bothering her.
“Hubby…” Meinny began, her voice soft but full of curiosity.
Jay looked at her attentively. “What’s wrong, darling? You seem like you're thinking about something.”
Meinny sighed, her eyes a bit watery. “I’m craving… but it’s strange. I really want to eat durian,” she said, her voice filled with confusion.
Jay frowned, a bit surprised by her request. “Durian? But you’ve never liked it before. Why now?”
Meinny rubbed her growing belly, her face looking serious yet slightly anxious. “I know it’s weird, but I really want to eat durian. But not here, hubby. I want to eat it at your office,” she said, her eyes looking at him with hope.
Jay was taken aback, then chuckled softly at her request. “At the office? Durian? There are going to be a lot of people there, sweetie… are you sure?” he asked, frowning, trying to imagine what would happen.
Meinny nodded slowly, a little awkwardly. “I know it’s strange, but I really want to eat durian there, at your workplace. I don’t know why, but I’ve been imagining the atmosphere there. I just want to feel close to you in the middle of your work.”
Jay looked at her for a moment, then smiled warmly. “Alright, if that’s what you want. I’ll bring durian to the office. But you have to promise not to make a scene, okay?” he replied, laughing softly, amused by her unusual request.
Meinny smiled in relief, a little embarrassed. “Thank you, hubby. I know it’s weird, but... I just want to eat durian, and it’ll only feel perfect there, with you.”
With a light laugh, Jay nodded, happy to make his wife happy, even though her request was a little unusual. They set off to Jay’s office with the durian that the maid had already bought earlier.
That morning, Jay’s office was busy with employees preparing for their workday. However, the atmosphere remained calm and orderly. Inside Jay's private room, the desk lamp softly lit the space, creating a warm ambiance, even though the morning sunlight had already slipped in through the large window overlooking the city. The sound of typing keyboards and light conversations from outside seemed distant, as if time slowed down when the two of them entered that room.
Jay opened the door with a slight smile, followed by Meinny who stepped in, a little shy but smiling. A large plastic box was in Jay's hands, which he immediately placed on his desk.
“So, here it is... the durian you wanted,” Jay said with a smile, opening the box. The distinctive aroma of durian immediately spread through the room, making the atmosphere feel a bit different with the sharp and powerful scent, but it was just between the two of them.
Meinny stared at the box with sparkling eyes, then laughed softly. “I know this sounds weird, hubby, but… I think it’ll taste better here,” she said as she sat in the chair next to the desk.
Jay sat in his office chair, watching Meinny with full attention. “If that’s what you want, it’s fine, darling. But I hope the smell doesn’t disturb the people outside,” he replied with a smile, though he looked a bit worried that the smell of durian might spread throughout the office.
Meinny just laughed lightly. “They’re used to our weird things, hubby,” she answered, eagerly opening the durian. Without hesitation, she took a piece of the soft, sweet durian flesh and ate it with gusto.
“Wow, this is so good!” Meinny said, her face full of happiness. “I think this is exactly what I needed this morning.”
Jay watched his wife enjoy the fruit with such enthusiasm. “I know you’re craving durian, but I never thought you’d eat it so eagerly,” Jay said with a loving smile, though he was a little surprised to see Meinny enjoying the durian as if it was the best thing she had ever tasted.
Meinny looked at Jay with a smile full of happiness, not caring about the durian smell filling the room. “I don’t know why, hubby. But it feels... like what I need. Maybe because... I feel closer to you here,” she replied, savoring the durian. “And...” she paused for a moment, taking a breath, “and because we’re going to have a baby. Everything just feels more beautiful.”
Jay smiled, a bit touched by Meinny’s words. “I’m glad if you’re happy, darling,” he said softly, then picked up the cup of coffee on the table. “Maybe we can add another tradition, like having durian in the office. Who knows, this durian might bring us good luck.”
Meinny laughed, feeling more comfortable in the room, beside her husband. “Maybe,” she replied, taking another bite of durian. “I just want to enjoy every moment, and today... today feels perfect.”
They sat together, in the comfortable silence, with durian as their unusual breakfast companion. Outside the room, the sounds of office work began to return, but in Jay’s private space, there was only their laughter and happiness.
After enjoying the durian she had been craving, Meinny felt very satisfied, but sleepiness slowly started to set in. She looked at Jay, who was busy with his laptop, typing some emails. The atmosphere in the room was calm, only the sound of the keyboard clicking and the soft hum of the air conditioning filling the air.
Slowly, Meinny got up from her seat and approached Jay, who was absorbed in his work. Without a word, she stood beside him and gazed at him with soft, loving eyes.
“Hubby,” Meinny called softly, her voice full of longing. Jay turned to her, his attentive eyes meeting the tired but affectionate look on his wife’s face.
“What’s wrong, darling?” Jay asked, setting aside his work and giving her his full attention.
Meinny smiled sweetly, then slowly sat beside Jay. She gently wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned her head on his shoulder. “Hug me, hubby. I feel like being close to you,” she said in a voice that was soft and full of yearning.
Jay, who could never refuse his wife’s little requests, immediately pulled Meinny into his embrace. Without hesitation, he hugged her tightly, feeling the warmth of her body as she nestled comfortably in his arms. Meinny, as if the world belonged only to the two of them, slowly lifted her legs and sat on her husband’s lap.
The atmosphere in the room grew even more intimate as Meinny rested completely on Jay’s chest. “Are you comfortable?” Jay asked, his hand gently stroking her back, caressing her as if he wanted to provide her with perfect peace.
Meinny nodded, her eyes slowly closing. “Very comfortable... I just want to stay close to you, hubby. You are my home,” she answered in a voice barely audible, yet full of meaning.
With their embrace growing tighter, Jay felt his heart race, experiencing how perfect the moment was. Meinny, so calm in his arms, made him feel as though the world existed only for them. He no longer cared about the unfinished work, because the only thing that mattered at that moment was holding his wife, keeping her safe, and protecting her.
Meinny, slowly drifting off to sleep, felt the comfort of the embrace, resting in her husband’s lap as he continued to gently stroke her hair with affection. Her whole body felt light, as if she were in an embrace she never wanted to leave. In that moment, there was nothing more important to them than each other. The room was filled with genuine love and peace that could only be found in the embrace of a true couple.
Jay, even though his work was waiting, allowed himself to be swept away by the tranquility, savoring every second as he held his sleeping wife. He gazed at her peaceful face.
Gently, Jay lifted Meinny’s body from his lap, feeling the warmth of her body so comfortably in his arms. Slowly, he stood from his chair, ensuring that Meinny stayed asleep in his embrace. The room felt so quiet, with only their hearts beating in sync, creating a rhythm that only the two of them knew.
Jay walked slowly, carrying Meinny toward the door. Every step was filled with care, to avoid waking his wife, who was sleeping soundly. Before exiting, he took a quick glance at his messy desk, piled with paperwork, but his heart felt light, as if the world had paused for a moment to make space for this precious time.
When they reached the door of his private room, a room he had often used when staying late at the office. This was a room full of memories, a place where he spent much time working alone before meeting Meinny. But now, the room felt different. There was a new warmth that came with his wife’s presence.
Jay carefully opened the door and stepped into the dark room, only illuminated by the moonlight streaming through the window. He walked toward the bed, gently placing Meinny on the mattress. Slowly, he pulled the blanket over her, tucking her in with great care, making sure she was comfortable.
Meinny, still asleep, let out a soft moan, as if feeling Jay’s gentle touch, but did not wake up. Jay sat at the edge of the bed, gazing at his wife’s peaceful face. His hand stroked her hair with love, his fingers gently touching her skin with affection.
“Good night, darling,” he whispered softly, as if speaking only to himself. “I will always be here for you.”
With great care, Jay stood, giving Meinny space to sleep soundly. Before leaving the room, he glanced once more at his wife, peacefully asleep. A deep sense of peace filled his heart, as if the world was perfectly in place. At that moment, Jay knew that their life, filled with love and happiness, must be protected.
As he quietly closed the door, a warm feeling filled his chest, a feeling that could only be experienced by a husband deeply in love, journeying through life with his wife.
Hours passed, and the quiet room was only filled with the sound of the wall clock ticking softly. Meinny, still asleep in bed, began to stir. Slowly, her eyes opened, and the light from the window illuminated her face, which still looked tired but peaceful. She lifted her hand, touching her warm face, realizing that she had slept for quite a long time.
With a slight squint, Meinny sat up slowly, feeling a bit dizzy after such a deep sleep. She looked around the room, which was starting to darken, and in an instant, memories came flooding back. This room was where Jay often worked before they were married, and although it felt different now, there was still something familiar that soothed her heart.
“Hubby?” Meinny called softly, her voice hoarse from just waking up. She looked around the room, searching for her husband’s figure. But there was no answer. Only silence filled the room.
Meinny got out of bed and slowly walked toward the door. Her mind was a little fuzzy, but the warm, safe feeling she had while sleeping made her smile to herself.
As she stepped out of the room, she saw Jay still busy with the paperwork in his hands.
"Hubby..." Meinny called again, her voice a little clearer this time. Jay turned when he heard his wife's voice, his handsome face breaking into a soft smile.
"Ah, you're awake, darling," Jay said affectionately, placing his papers on the table and standing up to approach Meinny. "You slept really well. Do you feel better now?"
Meinny smiled, feeling the warmth in her husband's gaze. "Yes, I feel much better and full of energy again."
Jay hugged Meinny gently, feeling her body still a bit stiff from just waking up. Meinny rested her head on Jay's chest, listening to his calm heartbeat. Jay smiled at his wife's behavior and tightened his embrace slightly.
---
When their car stopped in the driveway, the clock showed it was 7 p.m. The silence of the night enveloped their home, with the warm light from inside casting soft shadows on the yard. Meinny got out of the car, took off her shoes, and took a deep breath, stretching her body. A long day had finally come to an end, and now they were home in their cozy house.
"Hubby, I want to play soccer," Meinny suddenly said, smiling widely as she looked at her husband.
Jay, who had just locked the car, stared at her in surprise. "What?" Jay asked, almost unable to believe the sudden request. "Play soccer? Meinny, you're pregnant, darling. That's dangerous."
Meinny frowned, unsatisfied with Jay's answer. "Why not? I just want to move around a bit. Just for a few minutes, it won't be long. It should be fine," she said, looking a bit disappointed.
Jay shook his head, worried about Meinny's enthusiasm. "I know you want to move, but it's not about what you want, it's about your safety and the baby. If you fall or get too tired, I... I can't even imagine it."
Meinny looked a little pouty, her lips jutting out. "But I really want to play," she said in a softer tone. "I feel refreshed, and I just need a little fun."
Jay sighed deeply and then moved closer to Meinny. "I understand, darling, but this isn't just about the game. Our baby is important," he said gently, trying to calm his wife’s heart.
Meinny huffed softly, looking disappointed. She lowered her head, feeling a little upset that she couldn't do what she wanted. For a moment, she was silent, deep in thought, then finally looked at her husband with a slightly different expression.
"I know you care," Meinny said softly, "But... if that's the case, I want something else."
Jay furrowed his brow, feeling confused. "What is it, darling?" he asked, looking at Meinny with full attention.
Meinny smiled slightly, her eyes sparkling with desire. "I want you to wear my nightgown tonight. That's it, as a substitute for the soccer," she replied, her voice teasing and a little playful.
Jay stood still for a moment, surprised by the unexpected request. "Your nightgown?" Jay asked, laughing softly. "Are you serious?"
Meinny just nodded, her face full of hope. "Yes, hubby. Just for tonight. Don't say no, okay? I really want you to do it. I'll feel better," she said, her voice full of playful desire.
Jay sighed, realizing he couldn’t refuse anymore. "You...," he said, smiling helplessly. "Alright, alright. I'll wear your nightgown, but you have to promise you won’t tease me the whole night."
Meinny laughed, happy to see her husband finally agree. "Promise," she replied as she walked toward their bedroom.
After a few minutes, Jay emerged from the bathroom wearing Meinny's long pastel-colored nightgown with small floral patterns. The nightgown was too big for Jay’s muscular frame, making him look comical, but also cute and sweet.
Meinny looked at her husband, now standing in front of their bedroom door, wearing her nightgown. She couldn’t hold back her laughter at how different he looked. "You... look great, hubby," she said with a soft laugh, though her heart was warm because her husband was willing to do this for her.
Jay just shrugged and smiled. "If that’s what you want, darling," he replied as he walked closer to Meinny. "I’m always ready to do anything for you."
Meinny shook her head, smiling contentedly. "You really are the best husband," she said as she wrapped her arm around Jay’s. "I love you so much."
Jay smiled softly and hugged Meinny tightly. "I love you too, darling," he replied with all his love, though in his heart, wearing his wife’s nightgown remained an unforgettable experience.
That night, they laughed together, enjoying their time together, even in such an unexpected situation. Meinny, the active pregnant woman, finally fell asleep in her husband’s embrace.
