"Jay!" Jay's mother exclaimed loudly, but luckily the bedroom door was already closed tightly.
"Hi, Eomma. I miss you and Appa," Jay greeted, carefully hugging his mother since she was holding a glass of milk.
Jay’s mother returned the hug, as she honestly missed her son. The embrace was brief, as soon after, Jay yelped in pain when his mother pinched his ear rather hard.
"Ouch... ouch... Eomma... let go... that hurts so much," Jay whined, in a playful tone.
"You dared to make my beautiful daughter-in-law worry, even make her cry. This is your punishment," Jay's mother said sternly, still pinching her son's ear but not as hard as before.
"She cried...?" Jay mumbled.
"Yes... she just fell asleep after crying because you haven't contacted her for two days. Where have you been, you naughty boy?" His mother asked firmly.
Jay winced slightly before explaining what had actually happened.
"Alright, let me explain why I didn’t contact you all for one day. Not two days, Eomma, because I just came back today. So it's not two days," Jay corrected his mother's words.
"Hurry up and explain, Jay! Don’t waste time or avoid it," his mother said, sternly.
"Okay... I won’t avoid it. So, yesterday I finished a meeting. I forgot to take my phone with me, so it was left at my colleague’s office. Since I already booked a flight back here, I rushed to my hotel to pack. I left the phone there because my colleague said he’d send it to me when I get to the airport. I was afraid I’d miss my flight, so I just agreed. Plus, I was coming back to see you and my wife, so I didn’t think too much about the phone. But I forgot to contact you all, sorry for making everyone worry," Jay said, looking down.
"Hmm... okay, I understand now. Next time, you should be more careful with your actions. You have to explain to your wife later. Eomma feels sorry seeing her so upset since last night, worrying about you. Have you met your father yet?" his mother asked.
"Yes... I met Dad in the living room earlier. By the way, is this my wife’s milk, Eomma?" Jay asked.
"Yes, it’s hers. But she already fell asleep after crying. I’ll make a new batch of milk for her once she wakes up," replied his mother.
"You don’t need to, Eomma. I’ll make it for her. Thank you for taking care of my wife so well," Jay said sincerely.
"Since she’s your wife, she’s like my daughter too. So don’t hesitate to ask me. I’ll go and accompany your father now. You should go to your room. Don’t forget to clean yourself before touching my pregnant daughter-in-law," his mother replied, patting his shoulder before leaving.
Jay watched his mother slowly walk down the stairs and disappear behind the wall of the house. Then, he gently opened the brown-colored bedroom door.
Jay saw his wife’s small shoulders peeking out from under the thick white blanket, her calm expression making him want to rush and hug her. But he stopped himself, knowing he had just come from outside and might have germs on him. So, Jay decided to clean himself up first.
It took 20 minutes for Jay to clean up and change into his sleepwear. After drying his hair in the bathroom, he quickly walked toward the bed. Once there, he carefully climbed into the bed, trying not to wake his wife.
After settling under the same blanket, Jay gently kissed Meinny on the forehead, lingering a little longer to express his longing.
Since the kiss lasted quite a while, Meinny felt something on her forehead. Slowly, she opened her eyes and blinked, and when her eyes fully opened, she was shocked to see her husband lying beside her with a warm smile.
Meinny gently touched Jay's face, afraid this was just a dream. But Jay caught her fingers and kissed them. Meinny’s eyes welled up as she was confused about the situation. On one hand, she was happy her husband had returned, but on the other, she was afraid this was just a dream since she had just woken up.
"Hu... hubby...?" Meinny called softly, staring into the eyes of the man who looked just like her handsome husband.
"Yes, baby?" Jay replied with his usual gentle smile.
Meinny suddenly sat up in bed to face Jay.
Seeing his wife sit up, Jay quickly sat up and held her hand.
"Is this really you? You’re my husband, right?" Meinny asked, stammering, still in disbelief.
"Yes, baby... it's me. Your handsome and rich husband," Jay teased.
Meinny immediately hit Jay’s broad chest hard. But to Jay, it didn’t hurt at all.
"Hiks... why didn’t you contact me!" Meinny shouted, hitting his chest repeatedly.
Jay held her hands and pulled her into a hug. He kissed her forehead a few times to calm her down.
Jay then explained the situation, just like he had told his mother earlier. After hearing his explanation, Meinny lifted her slightly bigger body, now that her stomach was growing, and climbed onto her husband's lap. She hugged him tightly, careful not to squash her belly.
The two of them, now reunited, expressed their longing in a romantic embrace. After a while, Jay gently pulled Meinny into his arms again and kissed her face all over with love.
"Hubby, let me make you some milk?" Jay asked, still gently stroking his wife’s hair.
Meinny, who had been closing her eyes, immediately opened them wide. She shook her head, signaling she didn’t agree with her husband’s suggestion.
"Why, sweetie... hmm?" Jay asked, furrowing his brow.
"Later, you’ll take too long, hubby. Just ask the maid to make it," Meinny replied casually.
"Sweetheart, look at the clock. It’s already midnight. The maids aren’t around at this time. Let me make it for you," Jay answered.
Meinny finally nodded, albeit reluctantly, but she also had to think about their baby. Jay smiled at her response, then left the room to get dressed.
Only three minutes later, Meinny started looking for her husband. Fearing he might leave again, she slowly got up from the bed to follow him.
When she reached the kitchen, she saw Jay standing by the electric kettle, waiting for the water to boil.
She walked up to him, wrapping her arms around his waist. Jay was initially startled, but when he saw his wife’s fingers and her round belly pressed against him, he smiled and turned to face her.
"Why did you come down, sweetie?" Jay asked, gently wiping the sweat from his wife’s forehead.
"Mmm... I was afraid you’d leave," Meinny answered hesitantly, looking so cute in Jay’s eyes.
Jay hugged her and kissed her lips softly. "I’m not going anywhere, sweetie. Don’t worry, I love you and our baby," Jay said, then pulled her into another tight embrace.
Ding… the sound of the kettle signaling the water was ready.
Jay picked up his wife, carefully placing her at the dining table while he prepared the milk for her.
"Sit here for a moment, sweetheart. I’ll make you the best milk," Jay said, and they both laughed.
Meinny nodded and smiled.
Jay returned to her with a glass of milk in hand, looking so tempting. "Here you go, sweetie," he said.
"Thank you, hubby," Meinny replied, taking the glass from his hand.
"My pleasure, my love," Jay responded.
The two of them enjoyed the evening, filled with conversation and laughter, before Jay carried Meinny back to their bedroom to rest. The sweet night passed beautifully.
