"Hubby... I'm cold," Meinny murmured quietly, her body shaking. She felt weak, and her vision was starting to blur.
"H... hubby... cold," Meinny said again before losing consciousness.
Jay, noticing that his wife's lips had turned pale, realized how far his behavior had gone. He hugged her slender body and gently patted her cheeks to try to wake her up.
However, his wife kept her eyes shut and ignored his calls. Jay became very panicked and worried, quickly carrying her to their bed. He could feel her smooth hands like ice, and her lips were slightly trembling.
"Baby... wake up, please," Jay whispered, then stood up quickly to grab his phone. He called the doctor who usually cared for their family when they were sick, asking them to come over right away.
It didn't take long for the doctor to arrive. Jay immediately allowed the doctor to check on his wife.
"She's cold, Jay. She might get a fever later, but don't worry, your baby is fine," the doctor said.
Jay nodded briefly, but his body suddenly tensed when he realized the doctor’s last words.
"Baby?" Jay murmured, confused.
"Yes. Baby. Your wife is pregnant now. Didn't you know?" the doctor asked, somewhat surprised.
"Yes. I just found out. Oh my God," Jay said, cursing himself for not noticing his wife’s condition.
"To be sure, you should take her to the obstetrician. I'm going to leave now. Don't let her get cold again," the doctor said, then left.
Jay felt a deep sense of guilt as he looked at his wife, lying weakly on the bed with her pale lips.
He approached the bed and gently kissed her forehead, which was starting to feel warm. "I'm sorry, baby. I’ve been so awful to you. Please wake up, we have some good news today," Jay whispered softly as he embraced his wife’s slender body from the side.
Jay lifted her shirt slightly, gently stroking her flat stomach, then spoke to the baby inside her. "Hi, little warrior. Daddy is so happy you're in our lives. I'm sorry, baby, for making you and mama cold," he said sincerely, kissing her flat stomach several times.
Jay held his wife tightly again to give her warmth. He cursed himself for being jealous and not listening to her explanation before reacting so harshly earlier.
Next time, he promised to always investigate something before taking action. His behavior had truly lost him his mind because of how he treated his wife brutally earlier.
After a few minutes of reflection, Jay fell asleep while holding his wife tightly.
"Erm... cold," Meinny murmured softly, shivering. She didn’t open her eyes, still keeping them closed, but she felt cold all over.
Jay, who had fallen asleep, suddenly woke up and hugged his wife tightly, trying to wake her up.
"Baby... hubby is here, darling," Jay said anxiously, seeing her shivering.
"Hubby... cold... hubby," Meinny murmured, nuzzling her face into her husband’s neck to seek warmth.
Jay gently stroked her hair, trying to calm her in every way he could.
"Shh... hubby is here to hug you, baby. You won’t be cold anymore... I’m sorry," Jay said, kissing her very warm forehead.
"Hubby..." Meinny called softly.
"Yes, honey?" Jay replied.
Meinny opened her eyes and looked at her husband’s handsome face with a sad gaze.
"I'm sorry, hubby," Meinny said, tears welling in her eyes.
"No, baby. It’s me who’s wrong for not listening to your explanation," Jay responded, hit by a wave of guilt. His wife was apologizing to him, even though he was the one who had hurt her.
"But earlier, Lion hugged me for a moment, even though he was just helping me. I still feel guilty toward you, hubby, for not taking care of myself," Meinny said, her tears now falling freely. The woman, who was pregnant, was becoming more sensitive to her emotions.
Jay wiped the tears from his wife’s cheeks and kissed her beautiful eyes softly.
"Yes. I’m also sorry for being harsh with you earlier. I didn’t mean it that way. I was just overly jealous, so it was hard to control it. Please forgive me," Jay explained.
Meinny smiled and nodded her head, with the remaining tears in her eyes. She nestled her face back against her husband's chest to feel warmth.
"Drink your medicine first, baby?" Jay asked, looking at his wife’s face.
"Hmm," she answered, nodding.
Jay got up from the bed and went to the nightstand nearby to grab the medicine the doctor had given her earlier.
"Here, darling," Jay said, helping her lean back on the bed.
"Thank you, hubby," Meinny replied, then took the medicine from him.
After she finished, Meinny gazed at her husband’s face as he cleaned up the cup and medicine.
For some reason, she felt a strange emotion inside. She was afraid of being left by Jay because she hadn’t been obedient, especially after remembering what had happened earlier. She was growing even more afraid of losing the husband she loved so much.
Hiks... hiks.
Meinny’s crying finally broke out as her mind kept imagining what she feared. Jay, hearing her cry, immediately panicked and ran toward her.
"Why, baby? Are you in pain? Tell me, baby," Jay said with deep concern as his wife didn’t answer but instead clung to him tightly, crying.
Jay lifted his hot wife and sat her on his lap. He leaned back against the headboard of the bed while holding her, gently caressing her back and trying to comfort her with soft kisses.
Once Meinny calmed down a little, Jay held her cheeks gently. She looked at him with soft eyes, but those beautiful eyes were still full of tears. Jay met her gaze and stroked the hair falling on her cheek.
"Why... hrmm...?" Jay asked.
Meinny quietly replied, "I love you, hubby. Don’t leave me. I promise I won’t get close to any other man except you," she said through sobs.
Jay, hearing this, was initially surprised that his wife was thinking this way. However, knowing she was pregnant, he understood why she was more sensitive.
"Hubby loves you too, baby. I’ve never had the intention to leave you, even if it’s just for a short time," Jay replied, causing Meinny to furrow her brow when she heard his words.
"You… you and who else?" Meinny asked.
"Yes... you and our baby," Jay responded, then moved his hand to her flat stomach.
"Our baby is already here. So don’t be sad anymore, my beautiful wife," Jay added, smiling happily.
"Wow... I have a baby. I’m pregnant! Hooray! Hubby, we’re going to be parents!" Meinny exclaimed, jumping lightly on Jay’s lap. Jay held her to prevent her from falling.
"Baby... don’t move too much, remember, we have our baby in here," Jay warned with concern.
"Okay, Papa. I will take good care of it," Meinny replied.
"Hubby will take good care of both of you, baby," Jay said, kissing her sweet lips lovingly.
"Tomorrow we’ll go to the hospital to check on it. That is, if you’re better. If not, we’ll postpone," Jay added.
"I’ll be better tomorrow so I can see Jay junior!" Meinny said excitedly.
Jay then held his wife tightly to sleep so she could recover her health. Occasionally, Jay woke up to check on his wife and give her more medicine before going back to sleep.
---------
The next morning, Meinny was no longer suffering from a fever. She was preparing to leave for the hospital where she worked to check on the condition of her baby. Jay, seeing how excited and eager his wife was, walked over to Meinny and hugged her tightly.
"Let's go now, Hubby. I can't wait!" said Meinny, then released her husband's arms from around her waist. She pulled his hand, urging him to hurry down the stairs.
Jay stopped her and quickly lifted her in his arms.
"Ahh..." Meinny was a bit surprised by her husband's sudden action.
"Shh... don't move too much, baby. You might fall if you're not careful," Jay said, carrying his wife in his arms as he descended the stairs.
Before leaving, the couple had breakfast together to fill their stomachs. Meinny ate with more appetite and her portions increased slightly due to her pregnancy. She wanted to make sure her baby stayed healthy inside her.
Jay felt happy and grateful that his wife wasn't experiencing the nausea that often comes with pregnancy. He occasionally accepted bites of food from his little wife whenever she offered.
After breakfast, the couple made their way to the car parked in front of their house. Jay had already instructed the security to warm up the car's engine before they left.
Jay drove at a moderate speed, holding his wife's hand with one hand and steering with the other.
They chatted during the drive to the hospital where Meinny worked, occasionally laughing at their jokes and light-hearted conversations.
They arrived at the hospital quickly, and Jay took his wife's hand as they entered together. On their way to the examination room, they crossed paths with Lion. The man smiled at them, but his gaze lingered on Meinny.
Jay, sensing where the man’s gaze was directed, immediately told his wife to go ahead into the room first. He would follow shortly.
After ensuring that Meinny had entered the room, Jay turned to speak with the man.
"Don’t get close to my wife," Jay said firmly.
"What do you mean?" Lion asked.
"I think you understand what I just said. You need to let go of your feelings because Meinny is mine," Jay replied coldly, then turned and walked away to join his wife in the examination room.
Lion, hearing the firm warning, could only smile faintly and tried to strengthen his resolve. He knew it was his mistake to fall for someone who was already taken. He would quickly let go of his feelings to avoid getting too hurt.
Looking at the door they entered, Lion sighed. "There’s no hope anymore, Lion. Stop," he muttered to himself. The sign outside the door read: For pregnant women only.
Lion left with a heavy heart, feeling defeated and disappointed.
---
Meinny, anxiously waiting for her husband to enter, smiled when she saw him open the door.
"Are you done, Hubby?" Meinny asked.
"All done, sweetheart. Let’s check on our baby now," Jay replied.
Jay gently patted his wife’s head, then wrapped his arm around her slim waist as they headed to meet the doctor.
After the examination, everything was fine. Meinny and their baby were healthy and strong. Meinny was only in her third week of pregnancy, which was initially a surprise, but after some explanations from the doctor, they both felt relieved.
"Congratulations, Dr. Meinny and husband," said Dr. Tira, who had examined Meinny.
"Thank you, Dr. Tira. We'll be on our way now," Meinny replied as she and her husband left the room, their hearts full of joy.
Before heading to the office, Jay took his wife to her workplace.
"We've arrived, Hubby. You can go to work now. I'll take care of myself and our baby while I'm working," Meinny said, gazing into her husband's eyes.
Jay smiled and chuckled softly, as his wife seemed to know exactly what he was about to say. He stepped closer to her, hugged Meinny with all his love, and kissed her soft pink lips gently.
After savoring the moment, Jay left the room, closed the door behind him, and walked to the parking area to get into his car. He was headed to the office now and planned to pick up his wife later.Download Novelah App
