A month has passed and Kassie could only just observe some suspicious movements in the household. It is not only that she never saw the master of the house with the madam, but also the mystery of Inna going into the madam’s room once a week.
She was having a hard time thinking of something to know about it and she could only wait for a good opportunity to get into the files of the madam inside her room. Now that the madam went to a vacation with the other maids, she purposely made herself sick in order to be left behind.
She walks around the house and thought of going to the only place she never got the chance to go with.
To the master’s library.
“Excuse me, you can’t go in.”
Kassie looked up to the tall guy who blocked her way.
“May I ask why?”
“The master does not allow women inside his library.”
She was not able to speak and just looked at the door. She remained standing there until she thought that there might be a surveillance camera there so she looked for it.
She can’t just back down.
This family’s situation is unusual and she felt like she needed to move and help this family.
“Good afternoon, sir.” She spoke. The pitch of her voice was a bit high so she could be heard inside.
“I am Kassie Anres and I would like to have a word with you not because of the madam’s stead but mine. I wanted to talk to you about something serious.”
“Please leave, miss. You should just give up.”
She sighed and remained standing there.
“Fine. I’ll be straight. I want to talk about Jacob.” She declared.
There was silence there and she waited for a response from inside.
“Come in.”
Her lips immediately curved when she heard that. She opened the door and went inside. Her eyes also instantly widened when a spacious and clean library appeared in her eyes. And it is not only the magnificence of the place but the library looks antique that has lasted for generations. It is just like the Astarial hotel, they have history.
“What brings you here?”
Her eyes instantly searched for where the voice was coming from. She is also excited that she could finally see the person she really wanted to meet. So then, he was seated on his antique throne-like seat. The table in front of him seems to be pure gold and very expensive.
She did not just get mesmerized by the materials she saw everywhere but also the surreal beauty of Jacob’s father. It was like she was looking at the mini version of Jacob that she could not stop admiring while imagining how Jacob could be this handsome in his later age.
“You look so much like your sons, sir.”
His brows furrowed. “What is your business here? And how do you know my son?”
“I am originally named as Kassandra Rivera. I am from France and I am your son’s girlfriend.”
Kassandra saw the surprise on his face but he immediately flattened it.
“So why are you here in this household disguised as a maid?”
“The story starts when I met Jacob and made a deal with him. He helped me gain my properties by having a contractual relationship with me. And in return, I will help him access information about this family.
I believe that he had a lot in mind and he felt guilty upon leaving the household but it was just natural to him to act that way because he had lost his loved one and his ignorance to the truth. But we spend so much time together, enough to make us fall in love with each other. And I am here because I am giving him time to move on from the painful past he had been through.
It was not only the reason why I am here, sir. I wanted to investigate the mystery of your family in the name of Jacob. I am capable of helping you, sir. I already have a lead which is, that the madam is not the wife you want to spend your life with.”
Mr. Des Fluers was not able to speak and remained looking at her.
“Who are you and how did you find out about that?”
Kassandra’s lips curved.
“I am Kassandra Rivera, your future daughter-in-law, papa. I will dedicate my life to solving this mystery for Jacob’s sake and I would like your approval for our relationship.”
“So you are saying that you are the daughter of Arto Rivera? That money hunter old man?” His eyes are menacing and examining.
She groaned, losing the thrill all over her body.
“You can say that I am his illegitimate daughter but I am now an independent woman and I had nothing to do with that man.” She replied nonchalantly.
Mr. Des Fluers scoffed, “If you act like that in front of that woman, you’ll be discovered.”
“Are you worried, sir? Hayay! Thank you but I didn’t come here to be discovered that easily.”
He laughed. “No wonder my son fell in love.”
“Yes?”
“Please have a seat, Miss Rivera.” He requested.
“Thank you, sir.” She followed what he said and sat properly to show that she is interested in listening.
“Please pardon me if I have caused inconvenience. Shall we have tea while we’re having a conversation?” He beamed.
“As you wish, sir.”
Mr. Des Fleurs commanded a butler to get tea for them. When the butler left, they were left alone.
“So, can I ask you how Jacob is doing?”
She stilled when she saw the sorrow lingering in his eyes when his face didn't express it. He is just like his son.
“Jacob is doing a very good job in his new business. He made use of the 55.5 Billion into a good business. He already knew the truth that it was not his real mother who killed his former fiancée.”
Mr. Des Fluers held his temple.
“I failed as his father. I was so afraid to hurt them that I had to let that woman do what she wanted. If only I have leads… if I have leads to my wife…”
“The real madam will be fine, sir.”
Mr. Des Fluers looked at her.
“It appears that she was locked in an underground basement in a town in Australia.”
He immediately stood up.
“Is my wife okay? When did you find her? C-Can I see her?”
Kassndra showed a smile but she changed it into a serious one after a bit, when she remembered the situation of his wife.
“I am afraid to say that you still can’t see her, sir. Due to trauma and sudden exposure to a different environment, she is under observation from a psychiatrist.”
“W-What?”
Kassandra could see how Mr. Des Fluers loves his wife now, to the point that he is trembling and was about to cry because of what he heard. It seems like he had been worrying about her for so long and that he missed her so bad.
Somehow, Kassandra got the urge to see Jacob.
“But you have a chance to see her, sir. You just don’t need to show up, you can watch her from afar if you wanted to check it yourself.”
His eyes circled like he saw an angel bringing him hope.
Kassandra’s lips crept up. “She is your most beloved, after all.”
